Why would you start with the highest proof on the table? That's one surefire way to completely blow out your palate. The order should have been Sinatra Select, 10, 12, SBBP.
I just picked up my first bottle of JD Bonded (not typically a JD guy), and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Well worth the MSRP that I paid.
Hands down for me, Single Barrel Barrel proof is my my favorite right now of the JD offerings. Great show as always, guys !
Hands down, the 12 year blows the SBBP out of the water, as it should be. And I have a hard time believing you wouldn’t prefer the JD12 over every barrel of the SBBP. The JD12 is one of the best Bourbons of 2023, the only problem is the availability - and the price you have to pay.
I love the SBBP, but I wouldn’t claim it’s my favourite JD because that would be .. strange. It’s my favourite of the available JDs.
Who had "I got swoll" and "my mouth is juicy" on their SLB bingo card today? Not me!!! LOLOL
Yes, let Trenton bring in whatever he wants for the Friday night blind. :-)
JD12 definitely my favorite whiskey of the year (so far)
Almost pulled the trigger on the single barrel it was 69 and some change but got a knob creek 7 rye. Kicking myself maybe but I’m a huge knob creek guy. Great channel you two are genuine and give very thorough reviews. Keep doing it!!
I wish I could find even half of the stuff you show in the videos. It all sounds good until I try to find it. There are still tons I have not tried here but I wish I could try some of the ones you guys do. None the less, I really enjoy watching you taste them and the banter. Thanks for sharing.
My first SBBF this week. From a friend. Wow that proof but man it hits the spot! Great show guys!!!
If you want to get a sense of what grooving the barrels does to the flavor of the whiskey, try Cooper’s Craft. They use the same barrels for it, but instead of filling them with JD distillate they fill em with OF. I’m sure it’s also not aged as long and whatever as the Sinatra. I recommend the 100 proof version. You can drink it side by side with OF 100 and taste the difference for sure.
I much prefer the OF. One of my all time favs, especially for the price!
cant find any coopers craft in ny
My SB BP is 133 proof and I absolutely love it! I keep it chilled and truly enjoy it.
I love the tap himself on the shoulder. Good on you Trenton
I haven't had JD since my 20"s except mixed at receptions, so when I saw a bottle of single barrel barrel proof, I decided to give it a try. The first pour or 2 were a little proofy but after that I think that it is a pretty good bottle, not one of my favorites but definitely worth repeating sometime. TonyB
Passed up on Sinatra Select while in Lynchburg earlier this month on vacation with wifey. Did distillery tour ( Angels Share ) my wife who doesn't drink whiskey loved it. They had it at distillery for $170😃🥃
Awesome JD review (part 2) boys! Really have to pick up a bottle of the JD 12 year….and yes Trenton, add whichever bottle you like to tonight’s blind on the livestream. Should be fun! Cheers!
great video. Just wondering out of all 8 JD products you both tasted this week, how would you rank them all?
I really like the 12 year and the Single Barrel Barrel Proof. Will try the Bonded soon.
Love these. Haven’t ever really been a fan of Jack, but if I find one of these at retail I may try!
In other news, I got my first toffee note! Old Elk double wheated.
Throw in some JD Gold 27.
I prefer the regular Single Barrel Select over the Barrel Proof. Even adding water to the barrel proof version doesn’t seem to make it as good as the SB Select.
Sounds crazy, but I find the JD single barrel barrel proof tends be a higher proof in the smaller bottles such as the 375ml
Really enjoying the video this morning. Ya'll are so funny. These sound good to me, just to pricey for my budget. Maybe someone will get me one for my birthday...lol
One of my favorite things you do is the “value decisions.” The price per quality vs the A/B ranking. What would your rankings from part 1 and 2 look like per price? Is the markup from bonded and triple mash to SBBP and 12 year worth the jump?
Awhile back Trenton has mentioned in one of the videos that a bourbon you were tasting was like woodford reserve double oaked on steroids. Can't seem to find that certain video and would live to try the bourbon you were referring to. Thanks and love your content
I would be curious too. The Woodford DO is ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ .
I found the 12-year at a store near me. They wanted $529 for it. That is not a typo. I understand it's rare, but...no bottle is worth $529.
My local spot has one for $299 and I still can’t justify it.
I left a 499 too... just asinine.
That is crazy!
699 where I’m at.
Paid $199.99 for the 12yr. I’d pay that again but haven’t seen it. Gotta conserve what I have 😏
I checked in with my local stores for 2 month's before finally finding the 12-year, and when I found it, it was $400! I'm willing to pay over MSRP, but that's just NUTS! I can't find it anywhere in my area for less, and online was even worse. If anyone can get it for less in their area and are willing to ship to me, I'd be grateful. Perhaps I could repay the favor someday. Gee, if only we had a club, or an APP, where we could all get together and share our good fortunes with fellow subscribers. 😉 (Hope that's not breaking any rules.)
Best way to randomly find them at close to retail is major supermarkets in major metropolitan areas, not liquor stores. I found the 10 year for $69 by accident while shopping for food at my local supermarket (Ralph’s).
Love the barrel proof with a block of ice😉
Sinatra option deserve more love than it gets. If your cabinet is all the similar volume it fits right in.
Agree with assesments for this line up, ❤ JD & have most LE’s except the Sinatra… passed on it a few times at $ 130 (not juicey enough 😂)
Yes, All Jack Daniels products should be on the table for the blind tonight! Excited to tune in.
On the Sinatra. I looked at the barrel pictures I took on the tour and the grooves are post burn.
Groving the Barrle increases the surface area, allowing more wiskey to penetrate the wood.
Ahh, Glad to see this part II - I was disappointed that the last episode didn't have the SBBP, which is a staple on my bar (so is Old No. 7, but only to satisfy my occasional Jack & Coke (the Lemmy) craving). I have the 10-year, but I have not cracked it yet.
The multi state search continues for the JD 12 year. So excited to try it!! Would be satisfied with 2 oz. at a whiskey bar.
I’m not sure where they are buying their whiskeys’ from, but I can tell you both 10 AND 12 years are around $300- $350 a bottle, and Sinatra is about $400 where I live (Georgia). The cheapest I have found Sinatra is about $150 and that was in Mexico.
I had a bottle of the Sinatra straight from distillery when i visited and did the Angels Share tour. Even got the bottle engraved. Only regret is its gone!!! :) and i'm not really a JD fan but i loved the Sinatra
I considered that Tour, but My local bar got a bottle, at 21 an oz. Also had a George T. Stagg for 41., 62 total Versus spending 30 in gas + 35 for tour. Good Stuff!!
I think it's worth mentioning that Cooper's Craft (another Forman product) also features the chisel grooved barrels for added flavor. A blind flight including that and Sinatra Select would be interesting.
A buddy of mine grabbed me a Cooper's Craft and it's really a great bottle for $40ish. I've never tried JD Sinatra though. Just can't make myself pony up the $160 for it.
@@MrGibsn1960 I'm with ya on the Sinatra. Other than a Michter's 10 yr. I wouldn't pay $160 for a whiskey under 100 proof. Prices have really gotten out of hand.
@@vladtepes9614 Exactly. I mean at that point, another $40 gets you a Four Gate Kelvin.
Seeking advice… My dad loves classic Old No 7 Jack. I’m looking to find a higher-end offering from Jack Daniels to give him for Christmas. Which of the more limited-release selections would lean the most towards that traditional Jack black flavor? I’ve seen several of these available at the Total Wine by my house in Houston. I personally just purchased 2 bottles of the barrel select rye barrel-proof but my dad doesn’t typically gravitate towards ryes (and I bought them for me. lol). I’m leaning towards the single barrel (barrel-proof) but uncertain as to whether that’s the best choice for his hillbilly palette. Thanks for any help from anyone.
Ok ok, last comment. The day I cracked my 10 and 12, I also brought my EHT Barrel Proof to the get together. Bottles in the tasting: EHT BP, JD10, JD12, John J Bowman green label LE. We had a couple beers hanging out before the tasting, then started with the 10, then 12, then EHT, then JJB. For whatever reason, the JD had some earthiness/funkiness to it that all of us picked up on and the ranking ended up as EHT, JJB, 12, then 10. Each time I've gone back to it, I feel like however your palate is prepped before hand, you get a different experience with it. I've had very fruit forward experiences, and I've had earthy experiences. It's very interesting. One thing I have noticed is that they do pair extremely well with a darker, fuller cigar where that fruit fullness comes to the front.. Cheers guys!
Channel is awsome. Great content. What you think of the heaven hill 7year bottle n bond
I HAVE THE JACK DANIEL SINATRA SELECT CAP, JUST DIGGIN IT BUD!!!!!!
I want that Sinatra select so bad. Haven’t seen it anywhere. 😢
I’m glad we addressed the shirt situation.
May I suggest sampling the bottles in ascending order of ABV so as not to get blown away by the high proof initially.
YES, Trent should add one of the JD special bottles for Friday's live stream.
The SBS BP and the 12 year is dang tasty! I need to try Batch 2 10yr and the Sinatra. Just snagged a SBS BP Rye from the JD distillery in TN.
Man, I need to just go pick up a Sinatra. I have all the others and I really like them. That JD 12 is wonderful. I have a master distiller pick of the JD SBBP and it is much better than the standard pickup I have. I know they are all single barrels and all going to be different, but those are considerably different.
Last Thursday, a store in Chattanooga offered me a bottle of JD10 for $499 and JD12 for $599. I was not sure what the MSRP was but I knew they added a huge premium.
I bought the Sinatra for my dad for $100 a couple years ago. Like everything, it has shot up in price. I could also find the SBBP for $45 in California. Now the regular SiB is that price. Not all good deals are gone - I got lucky and found the 10 Year at Costco for $60 last month! For the live stream, I think you should throw the Triple Mash (and whatever else Trenton’s hiding) into the blind!
Oh man, Trenton losing it had me dying laughing 🤣 but seriously I’m going to have to try that single barrel
It's killer
Mama's away so I get to watch the livestream tonight! My first...BTW, great review guys. I have not opened my JD 10 yr yet, but it's pretty hard to beat the SBBP, especially at the price. I've got a 134.8 proof bottle in backup right now... 12 yr is nowhere to be seen in my area 😞. I have a tough time justifying ANY $100+ bottle at 90 proof. That's why I've never bought the Sinatra. I think Trenton's point of making it a 700ml release at 30% less $$ would make more sense. But then again, I think Frank could have polished off a 1L pretty quickly in his day! 🙂
Came here to see follow-up remarks and comments regarding Trenton's shirt, so it's great to see it did not go unnoticed by Kurt.
Have you guys done a bourbon cigar blend review? Maybe a Joseph Magnus and Old Elk? I have the Old Elk and it's pretty damn good. Pairs excellent with a cigar. I know there are several cigar blends out there and many people probably haven't dipped into them. Thanks as always for your awesome videos, information and knowledge shared, and many laughs
Nice stash on the table!
Can you guys do something like this for Michter’s? Especially would love to see a comparison of their US1 offerings. Thanks!
Here in Ohio, the Sinatra select sells for $154.99+tax
I WOULD LOVE TO TRY THE SINATRA SELECT JACK DANIELS!!
I have the single barrel and the single barrel rye, both excellent, I was wondering what do you guys do with the leftover pours after you taste tested each one?
Infinity bottle.
@@smac2047 Thanks for the reply, just purchased my own, never thought about the decanter, because I never have any left over bourbon 😃, but you never know👍🏻
I love their single barrel rye
Gonna go shopping for my first "Singer Barrel" tonight
Man, I wish I could get swold overnight like Trenton😂😂
Great video!!
I would love to get my hands on a JD 12.
Hey guys, has the Sagamore from the previous drop shipped? My tracking number says no such number exists.
What about Jack D nr. 27?
Would have liked to see how it ranked.
Great content as always. I vote for Trenton to have free reign over what bottles make into the live stream. I was super stoked when I found the JD 10 and 12-year bottles at a local shop recently, but they wanted $300+ per bottle! I will keep looking for a better buy. May also see if I can get a pour at a local bar for a fair price. See you guys tonight!
I had a 2 ounce pour in Nashville. It was good, and had unique features. I would pay a 100 but never 300.
$300 for Jack Daniels, that's high comedy!
230 for the 12 year Batch 2 near me. 170 for the 10 year
This looks like an amazing match up! Can't wait. U guys are awesome
THEY SEEM TO BE HAVIN AN AWESOME TIME!!!!
On the Sinatra version they say the groves nearly double the surface area contact with the juice.
Love the SBCS!
They have a Sinatra barrel split in half on distillery tour. It is quite intriguing to see. The grooves are put in post char. Interesting concept that does seem to be more than a marketing ploy, but I’ve never seen a bottle under $190. Love your content and each video just gets better and better! Keep up the amazing work.
I'm bummed the SB Rye didn't make it into either JD video. I love that bottle.
Another great video guys. Juice City with schmedium shirts 🤦♂️, gold standard right there😂. Cheers
YES! LOL, I love the Green Label and have to order it every time since I cannot get it in CA. I'd love to get your take on it. It is a less proof point. If you can find it. GREAT Video, see you tonight.
Trenton you do you Bro...Bring it on !
5:01 Possibly the greatest 50 seconds in whiskeytube history, lol
I completely agree with candles or anything with a fake scent.
Single Barrel Barrel Proof is amazing...like candy to me. It's always available in my home. Mine are 132 Proof to 129..
Put one of the others in tonight’s live stream.
I’ve had the JD Single Barrel Barrel Proof twice and both was amazing to me. Still looking for another one. $70.00+ tax
Nice reviews! Seems like the Sinatra price isn’t too bad seeing how it’s a liter bottle? Curious if it drinks much different if you have it on the rocks like Frank.
Ive heard from like 3 people now that if you water the bonded down to 90 the sinatra tastes near identical
My jack SBBP was full blown banana runts. It’s was awesome I can’t wait to grab another one. I pray it’s just as good.
I was lucky to be able to get JD 10 Year at MSRP. Have not been able to find the 12 Year for a reasonable price. Saw the Sinatra Blend all over N Illinois for $129 and I passed. 🥃
Can anyone tell me how to get a bottle of 12 Year for under 200 or 300. We were originally selling it in PA for under $90...and now it disappeared from our website (not to mention PLCB employees can't purchase allocated products anymore). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did manage to get a bottle of the 100% American Single Malt before the rules changed so I am very Interested in the 12 Year. Thanks all.
Trenton add then to mix things up
Trenton looks like Sean Austin in 50 first dates!
I got a bottle of freak when they 1st released. Didn't open it for 5ish years, for my 40th. Still have 1/4 of the bottle left. I agree the price is rough, but I see it on sale for 85-95 a few times and it's a pretty big bottle.
And I can never find the 10 and 12 year. And I'm in Southern California
JD triple mash is my JD product… first time my palate and Trentons agree-lol
12 is a unicorn at this point. I had to pay $110 for the 10 year
Is that a size extra medium shirt?
Nice show guys! Agree with T on the order …and that Triple Mash is up at the top as well! Now as for that shirt- way too small!😜
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂he’s been shopping in the kids sections. Hahhahahahha gotem!!!!
I drank No. 7 when it was still 90 proof. Those were the days!
On the SBBP I get bananas and vanilla ice cream or custard being delivered by a horse. 😂
Man I wish I could get my hands on the 10 and 12 but a store in my area wants 499 for it😢
Spice it up in the livestream, add some other bottles. Should be fun to watch ❤
I found Sinatra Select on sale for $100, which makes it about the same cost per unit volume as the single barrel barrel proof. At that price, I think it is barely worth it, but the single barrel barrel proof is a better value. I like Sinatra Select, but the marketing gimmickry results in a price that is higher than it should be. I haven't had the 10-year or 12-year yet. They are too hard to find and/or too expensive when found, and I refuse to engage in the hunt for such things. Hopefully, production will increase in the next few years and they will be more readily available.
Do these higher end JD products still have that charcoal taste?
The grooves do look post-charred. Was hoping this would help me pick between the 12 and Sinatra,....Just going to break the bank and get both.
No coy hill in the blind? Cheers🥃
I love the barrel proof and the Sinatra. The 10 and 12 year around me is 299/399. I want to try is so bad but way to much $
The first one is what they called catchup on the tour and it was $73 in their shop. It is good drank half a bottle on a 2 week vacation….Should have bought two.
