I am a marine gel coat technician and mechanic at Marine United (Nautique Dealerships) in St. George Utah, if you have any questions or need references I can help with anything you have. Also with the tower damage I haven’t done repairs on a 230 tower but with the other Nautique models they have a hidden aluminum backing plate under the tower that is mounted under the tower then is covered by a layer of fiberglass. Also the prop shaft on Nautique’s are not water lubricated from the inside of the boat meaning that the prop shaft seal is bad
@@andrewarmstrong7310. Get ride off it. It's a serious leak waiting to happen and possibly sink your boat while you're chillin' at the sandbar for several hours. Prop shafts should be bearing and seal mounted. One less future headache to worry about.
Leave the prop nut on the shaft (2-3 threads from the end) when pulling your prop. When the prop puller “breaks” the taper, the prop will fall against the nut....not on the ground. 😉
also try a local electronics guy if they cant fix the screen. Manufacturers normally only replace modules, boards etc. They (normally) dont get involved with replacing caps, but a local man will do that.
When I had to fix my cracked tower/fibreglass issues. I reinforced and furred the fibreglass right out to the good gel coat and then made up a couple nice decals for both sides so it looked “factory”, and put them right over the sanded and finished fibreglass. Saved me a bunch of money not having to find a good gel coat guy to blend and match. The decals look just as good as the day they went on. Going on 4 years now. Hope this helped. Saved money and in no way was it a sub par fix. Let me know what ya think.
I really like the way you edit your videos. You show the problem, fast forward during the repair, and then we get to see the fixed result. Nice job with the boat and your video.
Congrats Rebuilder guy!!! That engine sounds sweet, I I knew that you would pull it off, outstanding! BTW, if you need windshields TaylorMade supplies most of the manufacturers. I rebuilt my Striper 2301 walk-around that had damage above the waterline very similar to yours. I got the new windshield assembly direct from TaylorMade. Even with shipping it was less than half of what the dealer was charging at the time. If you need to replace the tower, there are a lot of marine recyclers in Florida. You may be able to find something that will work.
Exactly, That motor should have been taken apart on day one and COMPLETELY gone through. He could have very well caused MAJOR damage by monkeying aroung the way he did.
Cats are probably ruined at least on one side. If the 2nd O2 sensor reads one side isn’t functioning it’ll go into limp mode. But engines submerged and not flushed in a few days don’t usually last very long anyways.
You’ve got balls attempting some of the rebuilds you task yourself with bro! Never cease to amaze with what you can achieve...keep it up rebuild guy and team :)
"I gotta figure out how the distributor goes back in. That's going to be fun" You maybe could have removed the distributor cap and marked the rotor position first.
Fiberglass is relatively easy to structurally repair...use Epoxy resin and watch videos. It is all in beveling/tapering the good edges for maximum bonding surface area and the mat layup...start small and progress to larger pieces. Likewise, gelcoat is super easy to repair. So, spot repair the gelcoat. For best color match, order the gelcoat from Correct Craft.
I’m in Aransas Pass and I have done my own fiberglass and gelcoat repairs. If your looking for a good place you might try Kevin Shaw owner of fibertex in Corpus Christi TX. He basically has taught me how to do my own repairs. He does the work or sells the fiberglass and gelcoat for the DIYer. Looks like a nice boat. Good luck!
This was in my recommend and i love it, i watched all the episodes of this boat and i can’t wait for the parts to come so i can see more, also gonna check out other videos of rebuilding things, keep up the great work ☺️
Hi how did you pour the ATF into the engine? Through the oil fill area? Were you using ATF to remove water from flooded engine? Why use ATF instead of engine oil?
Just a friendly reminder to anyone that attempts to check spark in a similar manner (5:38 in the vid) have a fire extinguisher handy. When you turn the motor over fuel will blow out of the cylinder head and accumulate in the engine compartment in a vapor. The spark on the block is enough to ignite trust me been there done that. I had a fire extinguisher handy no harm done.

It appears from the video the boat overhangs the bunks (supports) on the trailer. If I am correct and the boat stays on the trailer for an extended period of time the weight of the boat that overhangs the bunks could cause the boat itself to 'fish hook' in the area of the boat that overhangs the bunks.
Might want to be sure the motor is running before you turn the water on and off with a wet exhaust. The pressure from the garden hose can push water into you exhaust valves, if you didnt know already.
Joey 240sx it was flooded ie underwater. He said there was water in the oil so if he didn’t drain the oil and pull the plugs then his bill has just gone up...
Lol. Most of the newer boats are closed cooled systems because they are aluminum. But still use water cooling and an impeller to cool the cast steel exhaust. manifolds.

Never take the nut completely off when taking a prop off.. 1 it won't get damaged when it pops off. 2 it won't cut fingers off if rested your hand too close to the fall zone, which obviously no one knows where.
If the engine spent any time with water in it wouldn't you really need to tear it completely apart to inspect everything? Running now doesn't mean it's not catastrophically damaged....
If you lap the prop on the shaft you will not need to use a puller next time it will slide right off you need to find a good inboard/io tech you will lean alot that your missing also call donavan's marine and set up an account that will save you thousands on parts like that starter cost $89.00 retail 250.00-300.00 no need to pay the 200% mark up marine max is charging you i beenin the marine industry for close to 25 year's now marine max is the most expensive in the industry
Advice for the future, fill the engine with diesel fuel, leave overnight, drain diesel fuel/oil, put cheap oil in it, get engine running, let idle for 5 minutes. Drain that oil and put in whatever oil you wanna run.
The exhaust always goes in the water. Unless it's a custom or has aftermarket exhaust. And that's on any boat, exhaust always comes out the propeller. On this boat, the propeller is mid boat so it just has a actual exhaust pipe the dumps in the water. Water works as a muffler.
And to add a little more, the engine has two water pumps. One is the normal engine cooling pump and the other is a seapump. It pulls the water up out of the lake and supplies the engine with water. It runs through those huge red manifolds. And exits out the exhaust through those same manifolds. It's the way those are made inside is how they work.

Exactly, That motor should have been taken apart on day one and COMPLETELY gone through. He could have very well caused MAJOR damage by monkeying aroung the way he did.
