You improvise so great...a glue stick for a dip in the wings, etc.,etc. These are beautiful (as usual)! It just struck me that they would also make great butterfly wings....thank you for sharing this with us! You are such a wonderful instructor!💎💙🦋😊👍

First of all thank you🌷 You have given us yet again a genius peace, one that all of us can be successful in trying and it is so uplifting ! Very pretty. It is alive. You feel at the garden and up floating in the sky . you are a dream teacher, all ❤. (and funny). einat 🍂
Pls tell me you edit some of this! You make it look so easy. Made it today but a little more work for me. I love it. Such a simple concept but beautiful. Thanks again.
Thanks so much Joyce :) I only edit in as much as occasionally I bloop and say words the wrong way round or cough or something, and obviously I cut out the bits where it is going through the pasta machine, and fast forward through the slow bits. But other than that, it is pretty much as it was on the day :)
Just what I need now 🌷🌸 So refreshing. We are in the middle of 4 days of 40 degrees 😌) and the covid 19 does not help ... Beautiful as ever, I absolutely love your work, as you know, thank you again
Yes u mentioned it but how I make these colours I am new in this I don't know which colour I mix to make the brilliant blue colour and I am asking about tha other 2 samples which u show in last what color u use in that
ahhh, okay I understand. In fact all the colours I mention are the named colours of FIMO Soft, so Brilliant Blue is the particular packet called Brilliant Blue 🙂 Wherever I can in my tutorials I try and use the colours direct from the packets of Fimo soft - or whichever brand I am using - so that people can use the same colours. Have fun with yours 🙂@@basiratsiddiqui6467
Hello again Fiona. Can you please do something in the future with a paradox cane. I’ve watched a tutorial but although the lady was brilliant, she went far too fast and also really didn’t make anything from it at the end. I think it would look spectacular as some kind of Christmas decoration!? Hope you will consider this many thanks and kind regards Linda 🤗
thank you Linda, neat idea :) However I would have to have a look and see if I can come up with a new Paradox Cane idea, as obviously I wouldn't do a video using someone else's cane :) I have a couple of videos in the pipeline for the next few weeks, but will have a think for one after that :)
You would want to use translucent clay mixed with something like alcohol inks. Otherwise the opacity would go away with very small amounts of other clay.
Thanks so much b1, you beat me to it ;) yes you would either need to use the translucent clay colours, or colour the plain translucent with pigments that were themselves translucent, and then of course the inserts could either be translucent, themselves, or opaque. As mentioned the alcohol inks are perfect for this. Can't wait to see what you create :)
Gorgeous 👏🏻💗👏🏻💗👏🏻💗 I love your work, you are amazing Fiona ❣️❣️❣️ Do you let your work rest at times when you were making this or do you just keep working it until you get to the end? Does it depend on the clay, I use Premo but I want to try the Fimo soft that you use. Do you feel there is a big difference between these two clays in your experience?
Thanks so much Shelly. I know in theory you should let it rest, and on very hot days even I do. But having made a cane I always want to use it straight away, so no, I am very bad and reduce and cut it straight away. There are definitely differences between Premo and Fimo Soft. Premo is more rubbery, easier to condition, sticks to itself more than the soft, but also pulls down more when you are slicing a cane. Fimo is more crumbly (I think of it as more chalky) and this makes it harder to condition but it is easier to manoeuvre and it doesn't have that same pull down when you slice it. To my mind it is the easiest of all the clays to slice through. So there are good and bad points to each, and I use both, and like both. They can of course be mixed together, so even better ;) If you can afford to experiment with a bit of Fimo Soft, then do, then you can decide for yourself. But to be honest, most people get so comfortable with what they first started with, that they tend to stick to that. I hope that's helped a bit. :)
Fiona Abel-Smith PolyOriginals thank you so much and yes you were very helpful. I am going to experiment with Fimo soft. I find my canes get distorted with Premo and like you I want to use it right away so i don’t let it rest. Plus I am so excited to see the end result, but at times disappointed. Good thing about clay is you can just try to make something else out of failures👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 😊 When I see you do this so seamlessly I just had to ask. I know you have so much experience and I don’t have the knowledge to know when I should let it rest. I have a lot to learn but will keep trying. You inspire me to do so and I thank you for that 💗💗💗
You improvise so great...a glue stick for a dip in the wings, etc.,etc. These are beautiful (as usual)! It just struck me that they would also make great butterfly wings....thank you for sharing this with us! You are such a wonderful instructor!💎💙🦋😊👍

I add a chunk of scrap clay on each side when I reduce. All the distortion is in the scrap clay and I don’t lose any of the good cane.
