      Fiona Abel-Smith PolyOriginals I’m in the fens, and even out here it’s been oppressive. The rain has given relief but I’m afraid all we will get now is humidity ☹️ managed to get a bit of clay done at last. The heat did give me an opportunity to get my clay supplies storage sorted. Believe me, that has been a huge positive 😂 stay safe and well Fiona.

    Love your videos, and your very soothing voice! I do have a question though: when you say "baking sheet" are you using parchment paper, or is it a segment of a silicone baking sheet? It seems heavier than parchment.
    (lovelovelove hearing you say "purple pearl" :)

    • @FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals
      @FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals  4 года назад +2

      You can use either. I have used baking sheet, as in the paper you use in the oven, very often in the past, and some of it is pretty thick and heavy, or as I have in this video, you can use one of the silicone baking sheets that I cut up into easy to use squares. I hope that helps? Thanks so much for your lovely comment :)

    These are really gorgeous and I just love watching you create. Would you mind linking to the type of pasta machine that you use for your clay, or one like it? I did see a video once were you talk to you more about your machine that it had like double gears or something so that with each revolution of the handle it actually rolled like double or something so you didn't have to turn the handle as much.

    • @FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals
      @FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals  4 года назад

      Thank you Debadoo. No I definitely didn't mention the gears or handle, that must have been someone else :) But I do get asked a bout my machine a lot, so here is the standard reply which covers most of what you should need to know. I hope it helps :)
      The pasta machine I use is an Atlas machine, at home I use the 180 (a wider machine) and when travelling or on workshops, I use the 150. I have always used the Atlas machines and I find them very good for Polymer Clay. However, there are other very good makes, such as the Imperia machines, and of course those made specifically for use with Polymer Clay. Ginger Davis Allman, from The Blue Bottle Tree has a number of articles on Pasta Machines - thebluebottletree.com/?s=pasta+machines which may prove helpful in choosing a machine.
      Here is a link to an Atlas machine, (for reference only, as obviously there are many other places both online, and in stores where they can be found), and it is worth searching around till you can find a good deal on one. I hope that is of some help. www.amazon.com/Marcato-8320-Machine-Cutter-Instructions/dp/B0009U5OSO/ref=sr_1_3?crid=BPH5K7P26RQT&keywords=atlas+pasta+machine&qid=1556786279&s=gateway&sprefix=atlas+pasta+machine%2Caps%2C211&sr=8-3

      @@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals I have a really poor memory so I may have seen it somewhere else but I've mostly watched your videos. So it's possible that I had asked you before about your machine unforgotten because as I was reading in the links that you gave me about the LC machine I found it again and saw this
      ". The LC Machine has a 2:1 gear ratio, which means that the crank turns twice for each turn of the rollers. " that may have been were I heard it and just attributed it to you. But I love the idea even if not that particular machine LOL

    I’m confused. I often hear that it is hot and the clay is soft. Don’t you have air conditioning.

    • @FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals
      @FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals  4 года назад

      Oh that made me laugh out loud Susan :) No, not in the UK. Traditionally our weather never gets hot enough to need air conditioning and I know no one who has it in their own home. However, if the summers keep getting hotter the country may need to rethink that! So when the temperatures soar unexpectedly into the 30's here in the UK we sit and swelter, and yes, the clay goes soft ;) I envy those of you who have air conditioning !! :)
