The Donna Kato Super Simple Slinky Bracelet! I absolutely love it! ❤❤❤ I was cracking up at the squeaking of your extruder. My cat's ears were twitching like crazy and my husband walked in the room and thought I was watching a bird video. 😂😂😂
I don't have photographic evidence but I have done this years ago and it was an unmitigated failure! I can't remember what clay I used but it was probably Fimo. It broke in several places as soon as I put it on. I thought it was because I was a novice and it was a ridiculous idea with the medium. You, lovely Donna have proven that it's the clay! Your clay and your conditioner! Cannot wait to give it another go. Thanks so much for all you do xx
I made a bunch of these in different colors to add to goody bags for our 5 year old great granddaughter’s birthday party. What a hit they were, even with the grownups who attended. 💜
I don’t work with clay but I do use an extruder for fondant cakes. I removed the handle on one of them and attached it to a cordless drill. No effort required. You can also remove both end caps. So to get a longer slinky stop before the end of the clay puck and add another from the handle end.
@@fancifuldevices if you can hand crank it I’m sure a drill which is powerful enough to put a screw in wood would have no problem with conditioned or even non conditioned clay.

But we’ve managed to make some truly awful canes. It’s been wonderful. These videos you make, they matter more than you could know. Thank you.
Dear Cynthia, I am so sorry to hear this - how hard this must be for you and your daughter and family. I’m very glad you’re enjoying and learning about polymer clay with your daughter - being together and sharing a learning experience are wonderful experiences and she will carry them with her through life. Can you email me at dkkato@gmail.com? I would very much like to you a pc care box. I did today’s class with newbies in mind and so could be very helpful. Big hugs, Donna
Wow these remind me of being a teenager when Madonna used to wear lots of bangles so we copied her 😂. I love them. I wonder if they would work a drop earrings to, coming down to a point like a tiny ice cream cone 🍦 ohhhh all excited now. Thanks Donna for yet another wonderful tutorial 😊😊
TAKE ONE END OF THE BRACELET AND PEEL IT OFF YOUR ARM HOOP BY HOOP AND YOU CAN WEAR THEM EVEN SMALLER ! i do this with memory wire bracelets that are tight around my wrist - give it a try !
Hi Donna, I’m a big fan. I’ve been watching you since you appeared on the Carol DuVal Show. ( I think I’m aging myself) I’m 100% going to try this. So happy to see you here on RUclips!

Wow ! made these myself years ago, i want to say 25sh year already,!! They were one of my first jewelry projects after a couple of years making dolls and such. I wish they sold the chameleon powders back in the time! They are stunning, although my eyeshadow worked very well too. Thank you for taking me back in time
Beautiful! I just love the colorent! I wonder if the powders, coming from Temu, will stay vibrant over time. I think my granddaughter would love one. But I wonder, if the bracelet can hold up to being worn by a young teenage-age girl? She isn't a "bam bam" kind of person. But she's active. I guess I'll just have to make two in case she shatters hers. I fully agree we should go along with the rest of the planet and use metric measurements. A pound to us sure means something different than a pound in England. Lol. I enjoyed the video very much. Thanks from Vermont!
What fun. I like this because I have larger wrists and have trouble finding bracelets large enough. Thinking about stacking, or horizontally layering different clay colors in the extruder to see how they come out, and/or making slightly larger diameter coils.
sounds good, Cynthia! These are great fun and easy to do. I think you'll find that layering colors in the clay gun doesn't give you great color on the outside - when you cut the snakes, you get rings but I tried that and didn't get the blending I expected. Try it, I might have messed something up! Hugs, D
I love them Donna, I just received my chameleon powders, to where each container holds about a drop, but a lot goes a long way I suppose. I will be giving these gorgeous bangles a go. Thanks for sharing.
I love it so much! Ultra cute. I had wondered about slinky style looking bangles, I love bangles. And thought it would work wrapped around memory wire. So much easier than I anticipated! Will have to give this a try. Better raid my old jars, see if I can find any that would fit me.
So fantastic. Donna, this is such a good idea. When I saw the thumbprint, I was thinking memory wire and how do you get clay onto it. Nope, nope, nope. Extrude and wrap around a jar. So novel! Thank you. I HAVE to try this this week. ❤
Maya, it just takes some muscle. Now, make sure the clay isn't too soft, it should have a certain firmness to it, okay Too soft and it's cooked noodles! Big hugs D
Hi Dorota! I couldn't see it not working but when I put it one, well, that was fun. It's so simple and so light but it's got a big look. I think that's pretty ideal. Big hugs, D
I really like this slinky bangle and it doesn't make a noise. So glad I have the LucyS clay extruder, complete with an electric drill. My hands and shoulder are so arthritic. Metric is really easier to use. Business wise there are some businesses and product that missed out during the original conversion. I remember well as a kid of about our currency conversion in 1966, I was 13 at the time, my bus driver and school tuck shop were suspicious of me paying in decimal currency on the very first day but we had a business, we had to have our cash drawers ready and product conversation ready to go. We has a Service Station, it was painful at first but so much easier.
It is really cute!!! I’m excited to try different textures going around the glass and trying new colors. I love all the colors that you showed today. Those are definitely going on my next order. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks along with your ideas so we all can be inspired by you. ❤❤❤
I have done some slinkies with clay years ago, but I didn't figure the ends problem ! But I don't think one can even find a photo of it on internet :D Anyway, I love yours
Another great studio lesson. I finding myself playing and claying a lot more. I’ve also started writing things down as I do it. Still can’t get the hand of procreate. Something about pencil and paper that is so freeing
Hi Denies; I get that, seriously, I do both now. I've got a little sketch book and bought some watercolor paper and watercolors. I will have time to do that someday! Glad you're clayig more, kid. Hugs, D
Well My first attempt was a major fail…..but I will try again. I did use junk clay and put the conditioning bar in. But i also put in the blackout stuff because it was junk clay and I am wondering if the blackout softens also. I also think I used a bigger circle than you. I wish these things came with sizes written on them. It would sure help. Thank you thank you for being here and getting my brain working. I feel like I am watching one of my girlfriends when I watch you.
Cheryl, yes, the blackout also makes clay softer so it might have been just overly soft. My extrusion is actually a bit dry feeling - softer but still firm. It'll work, kid! My screens are the Makins screens. I think it's about 2mm, best I can figure Hugs, D
I think this is an incredible fun bracelet. I love it. I will make these my myself and my girlfriends! Who knew it was colored with mica powders??? Awesome! Thanks again, Donna!
What a fabulous project! So simple. I will be making some of these once I get some chameleon powders. How fortuitous that Santa brought me an extruder for Christmas! Thanks Donna for another great tutorial. I love watching you create.
LOL, Sheryl, your extruder is about to get a little workout and your arms, too! I really enjoyed making these, so much. Earrings are coming, kid. Big hugs, D
I bought some superfine chameleon mica powders from jet age studio. They adhere to the black clay beautifully. They are very small containers but it takes very little to achieve the colors that I want.
Tanyaaa!!! Doink! As a kid, we ran around wearing our Slinkys so this made sense. It took me a while to get there - if you read the comments, others actually did them although I didn't know that. Well, whatever, it's Slinky time now! Big hugs, D
Hi Mrs Donna 😊 Aww I can feel your excitement, just like a kid who opens his Christmas presents. And I'm just thinking how to break the screen and steal that bracelet. They look so cool and comfy. I love those powders too and when all combined, they give an iridescent finish. Because you referred to a possible break, did you test them if they resist to break? P. S Mrs Donna, a query about something else. Can we put polymer clay buttons in the washing machine? Thanks a lot 😊❤️
Hi! I'm not Donna but saw your question and I've made polymer clay buttons to match a favorite blouse...I use primarily Premo clay and the buttons have withstood the washer and dryer many times! Similarly I have covered the handles of some cheap flatware and they've survived the dishwasher but I stop it just before the drying cycle and either towel dry them or let them air dry. Hope this helps 👍🙂
OMH what a simply briliant idea and so easy to do .I wonder you could make earrings kinda the same way by winding clay around say a pencil or *Something*. Oh you mean the chinese finger puzzle * i think they cal it *. This is just so awesome especialy for a beginner

Thank you, Linda! So glad you liked it! I do enjoy myself in my studio, can't help it. Clay every day and I think that has made my life a happy one! Hugs, D
I only do resin work, BUT I so enjoy watching other forms of Art being created. I use chameleon powders a lot - they're gorgeous! Loved the whole idea of slinky bracelets. 😊💕 Slinkies were a favorite toy of mine. This is a great Tutorial, Donna! Thank you! Was just watching a lady make cards and using lots of embossing powders... So, just now wondered if you could use, say, Clear embossing powder on top of the chameleon powder after the clay has been baked? Would it adhere? Crack? 🤔 If not, the shine might be really cool. 👍😊 *Naturally, my mind goes to resin use...maybe a top surface doming of UV resin (thick type)? Doming gives a super shiny, magnified look at those gorgeous chameleon powders. **Yes, all resins are toxic, just by their nature, so Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is a good idea, esp. for sensitive users. JDiction (not affiliated at all, but I use it exclusively for UV resin work) makes EXCELLENT UV resins of varying viscosity, relatively non-toxic (by comparison), and cures VERY hard.
Thank you so much for the information - resin is a new thing for me. I've done limited work with embossing powder as a surface treatment, I usually mix it right into the clay but I have used a bronze color and it melted onto the clay and it's remained there just fine for years! Most are using resin to encase and it works just fine. I have 2 part and UV. I use both depending on how much I'm doing at the time. Cheers, D
Thank you for your reply, Donna! Sorry for my delayed response, we've been sick with head colds and doing a lot of sleeping! Glad to know that embossing powder stays on the clay...I LOVE that stuff!
I been making my picky golden doodle homemade food. Because every dogfood I tried he wouldn't eat. I'm like I'm just throwing out money. Let me just do it! He loves it. But gonna add turmeric and some spinach! ❤
Love it Donna, how durable are they? I tried making bracelets several times and just have no luck with them. They seem to end up breaking at some point. And yeah, I don’t have the most reliable oven so not sure if it was under or over cured. As an aside; I hate when people complain about “being copied,” jeeze, get over yourself. This isn’t a patent. Just enjoy and share. People can be so petty.
You made a slinky!!! Does it walk downstairs? Love this Donna thank you. Come join us in the Members Classroom where all the secrets of the universe are being revealed one Doink at a time 😁
LOL, Cheryl, I actually tried to see if it would walk and it just plopped down and quivered. No walking at all but that's just life! Doink! I am spending somuch time in studio, I have missed a lot. I will make it, kid. Got to finish an earring class and a Valentine's Day class but I will get there. There aren't enough hours in a day..booo. Hugs, D
What if we covered a real slinky with clay? 😂 THANK YOU for spending so much time in your studio poor Vernon gotta get him claying too 😊 Can’t wait to see what fabulous classes are in store for us here and in the classroom ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Barbara; You know some are very fine and others are coarse. I don't quite know how, in the description, to tell what I'm going to get so I get lots and lots. I don't think this is quite the answer you might have wanted...sorry. I just worked with a new set and they're more coarse but the jar and lid are great. They worked fine on the clay but the consistency was different. You'll see. Hugs, D
Hi Donna, I'd be scared the glass jar would crack in the oven? Really wan't to try this😃, what temperature did you cook the slinkies? Love your videos and commentary x
now, the curing temps for pc range from 275 to 300F so those temps won't crack glass unless you freeze the glass then put it in the oven, then might crack, we did the opposite when we were kids. heat the glass then drop it in water. anyway, i have never had a problem with cracking, never. may i ask you a favor, would you mind subscribing to my channel? really helps me and spreads the tutes further and grows our pc world. you see, you're a big part of that. thank you in advance! hugs, d
Hello Donna from Australia, I love your tutorials and would love to try them. But unfortunately I can not purchase black kato clay in Australia. It seems unbelievable but it's true. I have looked everywhere online and there is none to be found. I live in rural new South Wales , a state of Australia so I have no local stores to purchase from so rely on internet shopping for my clay supplies. Normally I purchase from Western Australia but sadly they don't have any either. Anyway please keep up your wonderful work , it is so inspirational to watch. 😊
Thank you, Kim. Sorry about the clay, kid. Shipping costs have killed a lot of commerce, it seems and I don’t think Kato was so common before, either! Hugs, D
If this is still an issue for you, Last I checked, 2wards polymer clay (WA based) had Kato ranges back in stock, including Black and Blackout. And "over the rainbow" is a Melbourne based business that usually carries all the Kato colour's as well. Between these two I've usually managed to get everything I need.
LMAO!! I thought I was the only one with a squeaky extruder! My brother thought I was strangling a hamster when I first used it!
😂
Donna, I put my extruder in a vice clamped to a bookshelf-it saves a lot of wear and tear on my hands 🙌 😊
I have a mini vice I use, and yes, it's much easier
I should try that. I would have to find a space and that is the problem! Big hugs, D

Hi Donna. I would love to see how you store your clay. I struggle with storage ideas
Thanks
Vivienne
Lol. I will take a pic!
This is GREAT! See everyone in the classroom.
Hi Dar! How's life, kid? I'm in studio trying to catch up with you guys! Big hugs, D
At least it is not below freezing... Big hugs and a whole bunsh of love to you, the hubby, and the babies :) :) :)
Thank you!! Very infomative!❤
Brilliant class again Thanks
Thank you, Lindy! Hugs! D
Love this.
Thank you, Deb! Big hugs D
Enjoyed this class and can’t wait to try it. Thank you for the tutorial and enjoyed your humor along the way!
*Naturally, my mind goes to resin use...maybe a top surface doming of UV resin (thick type)?
This is so cool 🤩, thank you 😊
It's really cute 😍
Hiya D 💜 I'm so glad I watched this as well as the fabulous classroom vid, this is a fab idea, so much fun! 😅😊💜
Hi Tracey! I am so pleased you enjoyed it. It's simple, just don't make the clay too soft, okay? Gotta have some firmness there. Big hugs, D
Love this! Definitely doing, I have Tiny Pandora bangle forms and can see doing on them too.
Oohhh...bangle forms! Big hugs, D
I been making my picky golden doodle homemade food. Because every dogfood I tried he wouldn't eat. I'm like I'm just throwing out money. Let me just do it! He loves it. But gonna add turmeric and some spinach! ❤
Lucky doggy!
brilliant!!!
Thank you! ❤️
My burning question is: Does it go down stars without breaking?😊
It goes nowhere! ❤️
Incrível ❤eu amei a técnica ❤
😂 THANK YOU for spending so much time in your studio poor Vernon gotta get him claying too 😊
Can’t wait to see what fabulous classes are in store for us here and in the classroom ❤❤❤❤❤
Fabulous! Want does the bottom of your jar measure?
Hi! I will measure it tomorrow, okay? Hugs, D
I loved this video, can I ask how you cooked it? did u put something in between it while it baked in oven?
They were cured right on the bottle! ❤️
Could Repel gel be used to make the cured clay easier to remove from glass?
It could but it’s actually pretty easy to get it off, I think! ❤️
Did you say what size of those powders you got? I'm interested!
Hi Barbara;
You know some are very fine and others are coarse.
Wow ! Super !
Thank you, Solveig! Hugs, D
