I think George loves the lore of his worldbuilding more than the actual main story itself.

yes. he has never truly finished a series. he loves to start writing a series and create characters/plots that he doesn’t really have a plan for an ending

He should license out his world to video games and short story authors

The biggest problems in my opinion were two things: GRRM focusing on other projects instead of dedicating himself to his books (ASOIAF) and D&D not cutting some characters that wouldn't lead to anything. For example, why did Jon Snow return? The fact that he was a Targaryen didn't help anything. Was a completely waste of time. Euron Greyjoy was completely unnecessary and the Long Night and Winter we had been waiting for so many years lasted just one night. And yes, I blame GRRM because he repeatedly promised to finish The Winds of Winter and I think it's been 12 years since the last book, ADWD. But at the same time he writes several other stories, ignoring ASOIAF, the story that made him famous, known and that made him recognized to the point of having his work adapted by HBO. Fans have the right to complain about him. In 12 years I finished school, started college, finished college and am currently working.

I’m not sure people realize hbo owns the rights to make the show and D and D contracts are fulfilled.
That means HBO will remake the show. This time with the full plan of 10 seasons of 10 episodes etc.
my guess is they’ll wait for the death of GRRM. Or the miracle of a dream of spring.
HotD and all the spin offs will finish, they’ll be a short break then the announcement!

I really wish this series had been done animated. And I wish D&D had just passed it off to some other writers or hired more writers rather than rush everything and cut so much out. HOTD has saved the fandom but they might make similar mistakes. There’s some cool parts in the book that will look good on screen but will take more to flesh out the more boring parts. They’ve already had a big time jump. And they had the dragon come through the floor of the dragon pit….like why?! Other than it looks cool. Could’ve used that budget for other things.
