    Personally i think what annoys me about the show is that it introduced a whole set of brain dead fans who basically can be bothered to read a book. They only respond to fights and witty marvel banter. The show slowly went from adaptation to netflix version really quickly.
    HoTD just feels like a show that was taken over by writers who think they know better than the source material.

      Agree with everything except the part about HotD. That feels closer to the world of Ice and Fire than GoT ever did imo. Daemons arc in Harenhaal is hated when it's more faithful to George's writings in ASOIAF. HotD feels closer to season 1 of GoT with it's atmosphere yet people still complain and I think the majority of the haters would prefer it to be more like GoT seasons 5-8. It's crazy how toxic and entitled this fandom has become that they can't even fathom what the actual issues are. The brain dead fans are the ones that hate on HotD because it didn't have more action. It baffles me how backwards everyone has it. George himself only claims to dislike removed characters since it might change later events but he liked the show as a whole. Sorry to say that the fans have become part of the problem and will destroy this franchise like the fans did to Star Wars.

      @@extraplain2412 heart disagree the season 2 was them taking too much liberties with a source material. The fact that George r Martin called it out for excluding characters that impact the rest of the series should be an indicator that this show is going to go a lot more off the rails. If anything I'm with the fans who hate on season 2. Sure it's not as bad as season 7 and 8 of Game of thrones but it's starting to show the cracks in the foundation. If anything I hate the people who defend the writers and their stupid decisions.

Yep George disliked that they removed Maelor that's it he said he likes the show so it makes me laugh how people always have to spin his words to fit their narrative. I swear most of you didn't even read Fire and Blood otherwise you'd know how ridiculous it is to complain about the show. Most of it just comes across as the boring old liberal BS. Get some imagination and understanding of filmmaking for the love of God.

    Game of Thrones didn’t do the world building; GRRM did. The show was great when it stuck closely to the books. When it deviated too far from the books, it all fell apart.

    Is almost imposible to mimic the success of the firsts seasons of GOT simply because of the scope and the sheer amount of great characters with compelling histories: They have grudges against each other, they respect each other and have their own interests customs and inspire all sort of feelings in each member of other houses, for example: Theon, the amount of world building needed to put a character in Theon's situation in season 2 is sick, think about it, you need a war that happened some years ago, you need an ambitious house with nostalgic feelings towards a greater past, you need a world where the custom of taking child hostages but at the same time the hostage is treated like a member of the family and tons of other world building clues just to communicate the viewers what Theon felt when taking winterfell, all this was achieved in less than two seasons in a secondary character, in a plot thats far from being the first one and Theon is not event among the 20 best characters in that season, what ASOIAF and GOT as a consequence achieve is admirable. A tv series may have very nice plot and charachers but the quality/quantity relationshio in GOT off the charts.

    Idk, I think AOT is pretty equal to GOT on different merits. Sure nobody except Tolkein beats Martins worldbuilding. Maybe Demartino/Koniezko too with avatar TLA which I think has genuinely awesome worldbuilding. But the plot structure and character elasticity in AOT is like nothing Ive ever seen before. The twists in that show are so insane to think possible, where Martin fills his books with extremely cool characters and organic plots that arent afraid to change, Isayama is a master of planting plot mechanics right at the start like the attack titans memory access, and twisting it into something unthinkable.

    I do like GRRM's question to Tolkien although my guy still misses the point because the answer is very clear, given that Eru was impressed by Gandalf's heroism and service to the Arda and the Valar plus the fact that Tolkien wanted to illustrate Gandalf's rise and the progression of his character arc along with giving the lesson that at the end of the day, heroism is always appreciated and rewarded in kind...

    Just look at what happened to Better Call Saul, it has been so highly praised to the point that some people claim that is better than Breaking Bad. That is because the producers looked back and decided to improve anything that could be improved. They gave to this new spinoff its own mini universe and its own personality, just taking the best part of its predecessor to make things better and cover some plot holes from it. But with HOTD theres not much improvement in comparison to Game of Thrones. I can tell that producers do not want to give to these new series an opportunity to make things better, to execute things better and to create a storyline that takes the best parts of the book is based. Even if Games of Thrones didn’t exist, HOTD still lacks of that intrigue and political drama that attracted most of us to Game of Thrones universe in first place. It doesn’t have its own personality and that’s why we are still holding it to a certain standard based on what we saw before.

    • @andreag.8870
      @andreag.8870 18 часов назад

      Also I don’t think it’s fair to compare the universe of Breaking Bad to the universe of GoT since they are distinct entities with completely different storylines and production styles. I grew up watching BB first, so my standards were already high, so when I watched GoT my brain was like wired differently. I enjoyed the fantasy but hyper realistic political drama was the best part, that’s why the last season’s completely ruined my whole perception of GoT. And unlike GoT, BB definitely landed an amazing finale season, making it just perfect. One was humble from the beginning and the latter wanted to approach more things that it could, GoT flew too close to the sun but failed ultimately.

Why does Petyr Baelish speak like a serial killer whispering in your ear? Why are Ned and Catelyn 70 years old? That makes no sense in the timeline. And Emilia Clarke can't act.

    imma have to disagree with one aspect, the idea that the linear world in video games is bad cuz its a small or un-explorative world whereas somehow openworld means a huge + in video games It is always the people that say Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3 or the Elden ring or GTA are the same people that keep bragging bout how this is how they want video games to be exactly like them forgetting what made these games amazing and disregarding SO MANY ELEMENTS like storytelling, dialogue, the gameplay just for the sake of hyper-realistic open world games and proceed to set a carbon copy path for companies to follow and wonder why creativity is gone because now companies took note of fans demand and all we usually see is hyper-realistic cinematic games with the open world with no to little creativity, there are so many games that DONNT follow that road and end up and truly try to create something unique in this day and age

  • @jamesmswenko8292

    I've watched a show that has better world building than GoT, 'The Expanse', George R.R. Martin said it's "the show that fandom has been waiting for since FIREFLY and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA left the air... a real kickass spaceship show, done right.”... People think that fantasy is hardest to get right, I thought this too until I watched The Expanse, where they try to portray how it would be like if we actually became space travelers; there's no instant travel, even messages take time to reach vast distances, gravity affects everything, space is very much a character and the show actually respects science, it never feels like magic as in other shows like Star Wars. Another mind-blowing show is 'Dark', it's literally a masterpiece, I won't say more, it's better to go in blank..
    You should also checkout The OA, Westworld S1, Severence, Succession...
