lol, The way the collector just stared at her after Paracelsus tried to hit him with that dollar store incision
Honestly, it's all in the three heads all acting on their summoned turn. Combined with the lack of turn 1 stun, it makes all the difference.
...The heads hitting all ranks is kinda bs though.
I really like the fight but I do agree with this specific point. HWM gets 2 attacks to use, and it would be nice to see the other heads have positioning dependency to make the fight more dynamic and rewarding for disruption. As it stands, you basically just want to taunt spam and guard like everything else lol
@@ShuffleFM And that'd honestly be fine if our taunt/guard users weren't weirdly limited. It feels like yet another fight where MAA makes the difference, as he's the only one that can genuinely keep up the redirection. Well, Leper too, but only if you commit to literally never being able to hit Collector with him. But when the enemy can throw out seven(!) attacks in a turn on a collect call turn, that's just a little oops.
Love collector, love the fight, but for a boss that you may have to fight without preperation several times per run it can be a bit much.
@@ShuffleFMthat’s a lot better of a way I’d like to see the fight balanced. Keeping him a really lethal opponent even if he’s just a random encounter miniboss feels better. Plus the fight having a positional dependency component could help make it feel more like the dark mirror fight it often is.
He doesn’t feel bad to me. But then again I’m also the guy who doesn’t mind act 3 so I might not be the best at making these kinds of calls lmao.
@@ShuffleFMI will add this real quick though to play Devil’s advocate. I do think them hitting anywhere from anywhere is particularly tense. Multiple decently hard hits able to come at you from anywhere can be particularly lethal and adds a sense of real threat without it feeling like the big nukes every boss likes to drop.
I don’t think he’s too strong but changing him wouldn’t be an automatically bad thing. Trying things out is good!
@@ShuffleFMThey do have position dependency. MAA can only use Head Knocker in the front and Head Games in the back, never both, and Vestal can only use Headache in the back.
6:44 Collector showing that he is indeed the most powerful boss in the game
The collector just flabbergasted by those incision damage.
Wiping out shuffle's party wasn't enough for the Collector. He had to also T-pose to assert dominance
i love how occultist said "its occulting time" and proceded to die all over the battle
Typical occultist gameplay
@@Whywhy191OP pls nerf
Unironically but why does occultist always die. Has hard carried so many of my runs yet I barely have any memories on him because he constantly dies right at the end.
@@isaacsimpson8098 Low hp, self damage with chaotic offering and low heal receiving because of his low hp ( did you saw that 3 hp heal on him? 3:40)
@@isaacsimpson8098 he hurt himself a lot, with the sloppy sacrifice and constant burning and generally low hp
The fact I've consistently encounted him just after each region 1 lair boss is kinda brutal.
Tell that to him in dd1 :)) i just nearly win the boss fight and get out, next step i meet him, fail retreat and get team delete by 2 hightwayman head :)) he is fk demon
Yeah but in the first game. We have a retreat button at least and really good reward
Man do we need a balance patch focused on the heroes
Easy fix, nerf Occultist and increase head rush range
Head rush can now directly target the player. Occultist now has 20% less hp
I just remembered: we all know him from the first game. But imagine this is your first darkest dungeon game, and you don't know who this guy is and he just shows up out of the ether.
In the first game at least you had some time to get used to him. He summons the heads, and then you can be like "wtf is this??" and you can mouse over the heads and kinda get what's going on. It's a completely new and surprising scenario, so it's good that the heads don't immediately start acting, so you can get some bearing on what's happening.
But in this game, he summons the heads, you're like "wtf is this now??" and they don't even waste a second, they immediately start bonking you and slashing you and guarding each other and other shenanigans. Like, how disorienting must that be for a new player?? At least buy me dinner first and give me some time to get to know you and get used to this totally new and different situation, before you start wrecking house with me. Like, where's the rush, you anyhow ain't going anywhere fast with your 100+ health.
Based on all the changes in the second game, it almost feels like Red Hook is personally insulted by all the times we abused their monsters in DD1 with stuns 😂
First they remove basically all the stuns from the heroes and give them all to the monsters to use on us instead. Then they're like "fine, you can have stuns, but only if you manage to combo-daze twice before the enemy's turn 😊"
Now they are giving collector heads an immediate turn after being summoned, as payback for all the times we stunned Collector on turn 1 in DD1
I get that stunning in the first game was almost memey, but this is some insane stuff you have to put up with. Still love the game tho.
collector hit the dark arts gym fr
Wait the summoned heads can go the round they're summoned? That's goddamn rude to the player isn't it? You can't even plan around the heads you just have to tank 3 successive blows and then maybe 1-2 more before finally playing again, it's literally the equivalent of playing a round against hastened ennemies except this time they twice as hard. I love Collector but that seems pretty bad to me no?
It's brutal
The moment I saw that heads move on the same turn they're summoned I was like "Alright, that's just bullshit"
Had a cool idea: Beating act bosses with the infernal flame on will boost a memory a character has (either a preexisting memory or the next one chosen is better). Think of just like a slight boost (10% res -> 15-20% idk)
I wasn't expecting this to be a video. They weren't lying when they said dying was content.
I just lost to collector cause he popped up right after I defeated the leviathan and my team was battered. Horrid timing
I actually just had this happen to me yesterday. It sucked given I spent half an hour preparing myself to fight Leviathan for the first time.
I wouldnt mind going against collector if it waSN'T IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING A TROPHY I CAN'T EQUIP UNTIL THE INN
quick question: what's going on with graverobber during this vid? How is she able to go 2 times in a turn? Is it a trinket or something to do with her path?
Academic Study trinket called Oversprung Pocketwatch :)
@@ShuffleFM ohhhh right, completely forgot about that thing.
thanks!
@@ShuffleFMthe one time it doesn't daze you constantly it didn't even matter. Sad.
I know that's not the point of the video but how much resources and effort you have to funnel into Occultist so that he is only slightly worse than all other characters is absolutely ridiculous. That character needs help.
Spent like half an hour preparing to fight Leviathan for the first time, made it out by the skin of my teeth, and the next encounter was Collector ending my run.
Ordained heads, natural crits for days, and too little damage to outpace Collected Vestal and Life Drain. Slow and painful death it was.
its collectin time!
I just ran into an elite collector. I only lost 1 but it still prompted me to look up videos for him
New collector is brutal, and he can show up multiple times in the same region, even back to back. The last run he ended of mine, he showed up 3 nodes before the final cultist node, then again one node before the final cultist node.
I get it, its pure random when he shows up, but adding some conditions on that would be nice. Like, once per region....
Is occultist really bad? In my opinion he feels like always a really solid pick, seeing as I feel like I can put him in any rank if I just switch between warlock and the melee path. The tentacle attack isn't as good as plague grenade but with warlock it hits for a lot, takes out most back lines within two turns, if there's anything tankier the burning stars can deal with it, ignoring block is sooo helpful. The only problem I've really encountered is that he does feel pretty frail. When I did leviathan boss for the first time, occultist hard carried with constantly critting burning stars and melting the hands, except he couldn't survive the constant cleave and died right at the end.
I swear this game makes me dread every new update, i love the new content and returning bosses but it just one more possible problem to an alredy difficult run.
I beat the Collector pretty easily on my first try, but it wasn't Ordained and I had a good team for it. I can imagine it can be a pain in the ass to deal with without a lot of reach.
The visual design of the fight is sick, though.
An update to my previous comment: yesterday I beat the Collector again, Ordained this time, in act 4, using a team consisting of a Sergeant MAA, an Aspirant Occultist (starless melee build), a Maniac Flag and a Seraph Vestal - not a very strong team in general, and a particularly bad matchup against the Collector, with neither reach nor damage to reliably burn him down. I struggled a bit due to that, but overall it went a lot better than I expected. Admittedly, I made liberal use of combat items and had some lenient RNG with enemy actions, but it shouldn't be enough to make up for just how unprepared my team was for that fight.
In conclusion, I cannot agree that the Collector is overtuned - it seems remarkably well balanced to me, especially considering how badly minibosses in general interact with Ordainment (that's a whole separate topic I'm not going into here, but in short, Ordainment is a bad mechanic that needs a rework). If anything, it was too weak back in DD1.
Highway man blasting rank 1 with 30 damage pistol shot and stunning
what the hell was red hook thinking
I wish my highway man could do more than 3 damage with pistol shot, let alone hit rank 1
Stun potential is crazy
Beat the regional boss out of its lair. Just to ended at random road fight hehe.
Shuff the beard.... is fukin dope. I hope you do a 'Movember" kind of thing.
It's still hot so I'm gonna cut it off a few more times lol. Winter though?
@@ShuffleFMBro once the colder months start you should defo embrace the beard
From my experiences, I am fine with his strength if they would put a limit on how often he can spawn. I once ran into him while recovering from a collector on the road just before and that just left my run in an unrecoverable state.
how/where do u get the extra turn pocketwatch from again? i see u finding/getting it pretty often!
Broken Clock Academic Study :)
@@ShuffleFM thanks! ive seen u get stunned so often by it, lets hope im not as unlucky as u! >.< jk jk, but is there anyway to prevent the stun in any amount? debuff resist?
@@alext.1244 Stun resist, which weirdly enough the trinket respects.
@@nayeem455 oh yeah just straight up stun resist items would be best but there's so few of them I almost forgot! What are the ones that offer the highest value tho?
Why didn’t Audrey just rob Collector of all his heads considering she’s a rogue char. Archetype… Is she stupid?!??
Last time i had a word with the collector his highwayman critted me three times in a row for 25 each. At that point i started to suspect it's guaranteed.
Looks like Collector borrowed a page from Bounty Hunter and decided to use "Staredown" on your team.
Maybe next time he will say "I've come to collect" too
Man this game sometimes, I really love and hate it at the same time. It seems like enemies get so much advantage over player it's unreal.
I played since first day of EA and game is a lot more difficult than before.
The nerf is on your skill
Not too strong. You admittedly made mistakes and suffered for it... it happens lol. Tbh though I never run graverobber without lunge AND pirouette. Nasty combo right there.
Okay no this is so infuriating, I JUST had my 3rd fight against collector, this was my best chance so far. Hellion, highwayman, occultist and plague doctor. Got him to deaths door as my hwm went to deaths door as well. Occultist hit a 0 wyrd reconstruction, hwm dies to first tick of dd from bleed. Collector uses life steal, off deaths door, collected vestal CRIT HEALS FOR 19 on collector and my soul dies cuz i know i cant do anything. What pursued was the most heart wrenching, defeating, humiliating loss to the collector when it should've been my highest victory. Hate this guy, go back to the bloody hamlet. (Jk, hes so cool but this rng killed me)
For reference, Ive yet to beat him once
Oh look, the same thing I suggested to be nerfed (and was promptly shat on by noobs who don't understand a thing about balancing) has just been adjusted in the latest patch.
Who would have thought. This here is the perfect example of WHY it was needed.
I would say, if you haven't defeated a Location boss yet, he's elite, but after you beat one, he is just regular.
I mean.. I'm not sure if it would've made the biggest difference but you did have otherwordly fragments that you straight up didn't use. I get they're valuable and all that but I mean it's not like you're getting use of it now.
I wanna clarify my point might be completely moot. I haven't even run across the collector yet so plz forgive my ignorance.
No worries, the plays are always open to critique. If they were fragments I would have been throwing them for sure, but sadly they were ethereal dust :(
My team was great until he showed up killed two people and then i lost
ye that's how it went the last time I encountered him. was the 3rd region in Act 3 so Big Axe Cult Boi with taunt tokens and Altar support finished me off
There are very few options during combat. They should add cards or something to spice up combat. Along with might and magic initiative turn order shuffling.Even with the first game. Everything is toe to toe with opponent. You can't upgrade armor unless you a certain level. Heroes refuse to go on Quests they are too skilled for. Here you can only upgrade a few hero stats that give you little advantage. Also bleed and blight do very little damage to be worth your while. Just go direct assault and hold thumbs.
The play was more more not undying
Please do not nerf the collector
DD2 is already too easy than DD1
People play this game weird way..
Skill issue much?
