    Having only been here a few days, a few things that we, as Americans, should have researched first / been aware of are: 1) driving is on the left side of the road; 2) electrical outlets are different than European and American outlets; 3) the water - in Larnaca at least - is VERY hard and full of minerals, so stay near a kiosk or grocery store to get bottled drinking water; 4) toilet paper does not go into the toilets, so keep that in mind; and 5) electricity is very expensive on the island so be cognizant of power usage. Not sure if some of these “tips” only apply to Larnaca, but we will find out if the same holds true in Limassol and Paphos once we venture that way later this week!

    • @healthandharmony
      @healthandharmony Год назад +5

      Most of that applies generally to southern Europe. I don't know why you wouldn't look into it before you arrive, at least the driving!

    • @velourialamour
      @velourialamour Год назад +3

      @@healthandharmony I just came from southern Europe actually :) I was just commenting on Rico’s video about the diving bit since his vid didn’t mention left side of the road. And, since I just came from Europe, and Cyprus is in Europe, I had no idea that the outlets were different! Even Turkey has standard European outlets, so it came to quite a surprise that Cyprus had different outlets. Furthermore, the only place I encountered not-flushing-toilet paper has been Mexico, so just another thing I found curious about Cyprus that would make for great RUclips video content.

    • @bluepen3326
      @bluepen3326 Год назад +2

      Very on-point tips, Velouria!! For "historic" reasons, we have UK outlets in Cyprus. As for the water, it is pretty much hard all over the island, apart from the mountainous areas. They have beautiful water up there!!

    • @velourialamour
      @velourialamour Год назад

      @@bluepen3326 just some curiosities we found coming from Portugal 🙃 and as soon as we get a road back, we will rent a car and explore the mountains! Currently in Paphos and literally the main road by our Airbnb has been ripped out. Couldn’t even leave the parking lot if we had a car 😱

    My personal opinion about Cyprus:
    1. Don't expect a true European experience (on paper, yes, but in reality, no!) 🙅‍♂️
    2. Forget about making or saving money here! 🚫💰
    3. Working here won't give you a good lifestyle - they expect you to work day and night for peanuts! 😤
    4. A better future for your kids? Forget it! Cypriots won't let foreigners work in government, banks, or other top jobs. 🙅‍♂️💼
    5. Time has no meaning here. Waiting two months could mean waiting two years! ⌛️🤷‍♂️
    6. Don't expect quick answers over the phone. You'll talk to 20 people and still not get anywhere! 📞🤯
    But hey, there are some good things too:
    - If you're loaded, you can live well. 💸😎
    - Evenings are amazing! 🌃✨
    - The food is delicious! 😋
    - The weather is fantastic for most of the year! ☀️😎

    So all I got from this video that there are a lot of religious things because religious and this dude likes to look into people's homes where are religious things and religious people are there. Also it's expensive yet it is not growing because instead of investing in infrastructure they just don't, so this money you will spend there, will not be reinvested like in other countries properly.

    11 th thing to know.Cyprus does have poissonous snakes and are a protected species. nr 12 it s a bit dissapointing that Cyprus does not have a regula car ferry service considering that all the greek islands are well connected by ferry

      Lol but Cyprus is one big island so can't be connected to other while other islands are far away from Cyprus. Are you from USA? Cause your geography level isn't understandable

      @@gustawkrzewicki1496 The actual reason is because Cyprus has a different government from Greece.

    Dasoudi beach is a sandy beach inside Limassol. Don't need to drive outside of Limassol to find a sandy beach, you can find many of them in Limassol

    I have just come back from holiday in Paphos. I found the bus service very good there and they also seemed to run on time, but found the drivers grumpy and unhelpful!

      Can confirm that. The bus services in the Paphos area seem very reliable. Spend my holidays in Polis and the busses from and to Paphos came on time.

    You must live in a shell, big DJ's come to Cyprus, Ayia napa is jumping disco's and bars every night till 4am, Nicosia is now good but expensive like visiting London or any capital, Limassol is a dead Donkey, just coffee shops, Paphos on the other hand is more where the Brits go if they want both

    • @Rico

      I would say the Blue Lagoon in Polis and the beaches in Ayia Napa or in the North are definitely beautiful with crystal clear water and white sand. But Limassol and Paphos might be a bit rocky and too grey for people with high standards.

  • @catsfan_M

    I lived in Cyprus three years ,i didn't like many things. There is trash in the streets.
    There are many people who smoke tobacco in Cyprus ,much more than in Western Europe, all neigbours would smoke cigarettes.
    There are also many bad roads even in touristic places like Ayia Napa, ,no sidewalks ,cypriots are dependant on the car very much , also there are a lot of old cars which pollute the air ,they should be forbidden.
    I lived in Spain some years, spanish islands are cleaner, no trash outside or open trash bins, they have more green areas parks, and are better organized.

    Cyprus religion do's not effect partying etc, look at the UK, Winchester City has a Cathedral which the law there says everything must close by 12pm Saturday nights so your wrong there and being married to a Greek for 41 years I do know, Religion to a Cypriot is a private personal thing saying what you do say makes people worry about it, but they never should
