P7 day 1 owner here. I thought android 15 was going to be the final update for the P7. I've been tempted to move over to the Galaxy side for a while but with features like Now Playing, Screen Calling and the fact that I never get spam calls are why google still holds on to me. I absolutely hate the thumb reader on the P7 and been tempted to get the P9 pro XL because of it. Now that I know P7 will get android 16 its nice to be able to wait for P10. These android updates are nice too and have kept my P7 feeling fresh and well... Up-To-Date.
You are probably still not in any scammers database, but it will change and those scam calls will come. Its a matter of time. I had them on Pixel, 6,7,8. Its about the phone number mostly, not the phone
Same buddy I hate the scanner too it's finicky. But even now when Pixel9 is here I'm still holding on for 10 or even 11 if and when their chips get better.
@@StjepanKraljI haven't had any spam calls since I got my Pixel 6. They were common with my Huawei Mate 20 Pro 🤷🏽♂️my number hasn't changed I'm still using the same SIM since 2018
I think they need to equal both OS updates and security updates to 5 years for Pixel 6 and 7 series. You know I've written that to Google. Was it effective? I have no idea but I hope they've read my review
GrapheneOS does not "extend" support for old Pixel phones, official support from the GOS team ends when system updates from Google end. Sometimes they extend this to some security patches for a year or two, but this will probably be revised with the Pixel 8/9 having 7-year support.
I'm glad pixel is giving us this type of support, yet i still believe the pixel 6 & 7 series should receive the full 7 years as well.I would never, ever purchase one of their watches with only 3 years of support. That's insane what are they thinking!?
I'll say it again, Pixel 6/7 series could handle 7 years of updates IMO & if Google cared about the environment as much as they claim they do, they'd do it
As a pixel 7 pro user pixel phone did not survive too long update because pixel processor is too weak and it have lots of heating issue and there is too much bug in Android 14 and 15
What about 6a? Initially it was poised to receive till Android 15. But, now with the new timeline of Android 16 launching in Q2 2025, will it get Android 16 as well? I think it should as 'OS Updates' are guaranteed till Jul 2025
I'ma try using the P9XL for at least 5 years to see if Google really stands behind their device. With the 2 years left I should receive a penny for the resell.
I was actually thinking about this today, I even asked Gemini about it 😂. If there is someone using a Custom ROM here, how is the battery life 🔋 compared to stock android on pixels?
For an average person like me, who uses phone texting, calling, banking, RUclips and some travel apps including maps. What will happen if the phone doesn’t have the latest software?
I'm pretty sure phones with graphene or even lineage are more secure than google phone. specially since you can block your bootloader in those devices after successfully making the switch. After all those rom are privacy focused.
I had a pixel 5a. The damn thing bricked itself for no reason while I was just sitting there using it. Massive issue with that phone. Anyways I've been using my Pixel 2 XL as a backup phone (I sent my 5a to google for replacement after demanding one) and its been great. Its running Android 14 on LineageOS. I've uninstalled any heavier apps and replaced them with lightweight replacements where I can. I also downloaded... Let's just say a 'custom' RUclips client. Way better performing than the regular RUclips app and I disabled shorts so I don't doomscroll anymore. Also disabled animations with the "reduce motion" thing in system settings and the difference is insane. Makes the phone feel so much snappier. The amount of small little animations that add up to slow everything down is obnoxious. It also hides any 'lag'. What's odd is all the 'lag' I was experiencing was just little animation stutters. Without animations the entire phone is very quick
@@jevonsims900 i doubt, since android updates nowadays are just having some incremental updates. In fact, the features we get alongside A15 are not entirely exclusive to A15 but are delivered through Google Play Services. This makes AndroidOS updates more and more feature less making it more compatible to previous phones that if compared in the past, wouldn't have the capability to take a major OS update
Absolutely not and Google knows it won't. After 7 years Pixel 9 series won't even have a lot of resell value. If Google stops making phones before 7 years Pixel 9 might be a collector's item.
Basically pixel updates is going into 'overdrive' mode, hence changing the update scheme... Now there wont be new android version every year, but new android twice or even 4x a year. Better Title: Your pixel will be supported until…?
Linguists: is the title phrasing standard English? When…until?
Everyone else native speaker: does it sound natural to you?
How things sound is subjective. It’s better to go by the rules.

Nothing is guaranteed with Google. Google only promised three year support for Pixel 6a. You want longer updates? Get an iPhone SE 2023.
@@jevonsims900 those three years still aren't o'er till July
