I know how you feel. I was actually going to wait until Pixel 11 Pro XL if that's what they're going to call it. But decided to get the pixel 9 Pro XL because it was $150 off and they gave me $700 for my pixel 8 Pro so I paid $340 for the Pixel 9 Pro XL. I had to do it.
Ya if I wanted a more iPhone android I may go p9p but I don't want to feel like I have an android made by apple and that is just what those 9s feel like to me in hand
Display, I'm no longer forced to keep the display on 100% brightness in any situation(indoor\outdoor), performance, & design. Of course these are all subjective but we can all admit that pixel 9 series is better design than any previous one before
Im still rocking the 6 that I had since the preorder with the free buds. The longest I went without upgrading a phone yet, but it still works perfectly fine so let's see next year. I'm also tempted by the OnePlus 13.
The main reason im upgrading is because of the satellite communication. Im a hiker and often dont have cell signal. The satellite service might be a life saver some day
I went 9xl two days ago from 8 pro. The 30% off and trade in value made a 256gb 9 xl 206 usd total from a 128gb 8 pro. Plus 84 store credit, and I plan on getting the p10 at launch. I loved the 8 pro. The 9xl has minor improvements, like you said. I didn't have the 7 pro, but 7 pro to 8 pro seems like a much bigger upgrade than 8 pro to 9 pro, despite all the glowing pixel 9 reviews. Pixel 8 pro is the sweet spot for price, and then you can look to upgrade to pixel 10, or easily be able to wait til pixel 11.
I did the same thing as you. I have noticed slight improvements in certain apps while scrolling and I love the new design. The reason for the upgrade is whenever the 10 comes out, this 9 pro xl will have a better trade in value, hopefully.
Ya I got my 8 pro from spectrum for 10 a month for switching from Verizon I thought my wife would use the pixel honestly but it was so good I kept it and gave her my s23u
I prefer the design of the 8 because I don't like how rounded the corners of the 9 series are. Whether or not the sides are flat doesn't bother as I'm gonna have a case on my phone.
Imagine if Google had put the right fingerprint scanner on the pixel 6 and got it right first time? Their software is amazing but the hardware is always secondary and fails where Apple & Samsung excel....the basics.
Just upgraded from P6P to P9P XL and after trade in discounts, Google One Subscriber discount and no sales tax state... the phone was basically $600 so that was encouraging. Now I'm watching other Black Friday deals to see if the list price drops and I'll jump on Google's price match guarantee.
Yup the iPhone look is stopping me from upgrading it. My current one is pixel 6. I will wait till pixel 10 and if it looks similar to iPhone then switching to Samsung
I got the 8 Pro for its amazing camera. The 9 Pro just seems like a very gimmicky upgrade, so even if I was an annual phone switcher, I probably wouldn't have bought it. In terms of design, I think they're both pretty ugly but that's not a deciding factor, obviously. I hope they're gonna focus more on hardware improvements in the future and less on AI features that most people are never gonna use.
@@sickandlooseyou got 11 hours of off charger time, not SOT, there's a big difference. And I concur, anything is better than the Pixel 6, so everything is going to feel ridiculous
Have the 8 Pro 128gb. Felt big and storage was small for my needs. Then Google send out 30% discount for Gold Members and the valuation of my 8 Pro is $699 when i only paid $600 last year. Long story short i only paid $80 to upgrade to the 9 Pro 256gb. Thats a no brainer!!!
I loved my 8 Pro. The upgrade to 9 series is 100% worth it. Improved fingerprint reader, improved modem (no longer have to turn off 5G for great battery life) and overall better battery life make it an easy recommendation for me. The aesthetic differences are subjective but I think they're both great looking phones in their own ways.
The redesign is one reason (not the main one) that is making me consider upgrading to the 8 Pro rather than the 9 Pro from my P6. That new camera bar on the 9 🤢🤢🤢
I got the pixel 9 pro XL with a 30% discount and by sending my pixel 8 pro I got around 700 dlls, so the the pro XL is costing around 200 dls, works for me.
Having run the Pixel 8 Pro with Android 15 for 6+ months I can say that the benefits of the Pixel 9 Pros have been fixed now in the Pixel 8. There is really little to gain and I would save your money in the hope the Pixel 10 offers something worthwhile. My Pixel 8 Pro never heats up, and gets me 10 hours SOT when used constantly, say as a satnav on 4G. With the extra cost of the Pixel 9 Pro XL at launch it was an easy pass. Since then, I suspect sales have been slow, as Google are now doing deals--but I would still have to pay £650 for the XL, trading-in my 8 Pro, and there is no way that I could come close to justifying that.
Same for me. I got the 8 Pro on discount the same day Android 15 stable was released. So I can't comment on possible issues on Android 14, but I didn't experience any issues yet. No overheating and battery life is superb.
You not missing out on nothing serious. Only thing important was the modem but for that price definitely pass. I'm still paying my 8 pro off. but it's not crazy good like I hoped they even more behind apple in screen now 6.8 vs 6.9 I'll wait for the 10 I hope Google catches up with apple otherwise I'm staying with this phone for 6 years.
In August I went from the iPhone 15 Pro Max to Samsung Galaxy Fold 6 and now I'm using the Pixel 9 Pro XL. I liked the Fold but was intrigued by the build quality of the Pixel 9 Pro XL and it's Gemini integration as well not having to gingerly handle the Pixel as I felt with Fold. I have tried going from iPhone before and after a month went back. Just don't have that urge this time around as the Pixel features continue to blow me away so much so that I have purchased the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and waiting to see if the Pixel Watch 3 goes down in price around holidays.

I am zero percent a fan of AI and dont really need something that nice or those features. I do enjoy taking photos but would it even be worth it for me to get a 9?
I'm experiencing problems with my Pixel 9 Pro XL on Android Auto on my Toyota. While I can connect successfully, the sound cuts out whenever I make or receive a call.
I upgraded from P8P to P9P and everything is good, except for the GPS which has very poor connection. The speedometer i Maps fluctates 6-8 km up and down all the time and when I go hiking the route tracker is very unstable and flips around as if I was deadly drunk - no matter which app I use. Searching online I can see I'm not the only one with this problem. But talking with Google support gives no help or solution. Anyone here experiencing the same? And know of a solution? The phone is close to useless for me since GPS is the second most important feature for me, the fantastic camera being the first.

the 9 xl is free with at&t 36 months 5 dollars more is the watch too!!
I agree 💯! Thanks for this video.
Thanks, only a couple months too late
We wanted to use both side by side for a while to see if long term the upgrade was worth it
Why I shouldn't listen to you. My use case is not yours
