PSA: Some features such as Charging Limits, the updated Screen recorder, Notification cooldown, and more are NOT in Android 15...yet. They will arrive with QPR1 in December 2024. This video ONLY contains the functions that are PRESENT in Android 15 upon release.
9to5 is the first to notify that your update has come and indeed it has arrived on my pixel 7 pro. As I am typing, in the background it is getting downloaded. Thanks 9to5
Aside from the Pixel Feature Drops, Android has seen smaller things changing each Android OS update. Separating Google app updates from Android OS updates makes Android OS updates feel small, but when you put it all together it seems pretty big.
Android in general has some killer features. I wish they'd spend less time adding new features and instead focus on squashing bugs, which seems to have gotten wildly more prevalent in Android 14. The other major requests I have is that they overhaul the share menu, and figure out the whole media/file selection menu that pops up when you're trying to attach a file from within an app. It is absolutely bonkers to me how broken, janky, and limiting these two core features are. What's worse is they've literally made both of them worse over the years.
@@MichaelBTech wasn't much of a feature drop this time around since many of what's in the video , people don't have since it wasn't included in their updated Android 15
@@slashtab I agree, but should Google just give out free resources or should the entire community contribute to Android? I think that's the argument DOJ is having with making Android a separate company.
@@MichaelBTech Community does contribute to AOSP. There are many individual who contributes to to ASP. It's mega corporation which doesn't, like Samsung and other, at least not as much as they should. Google has a lot a capability. If they want to profit off it and close it, then they should close it and not the angel character. AOSP apps are bare minimum, which encourages users to use google apps which isn't fune.
Don't get me wrong everything seemingly functions as before which is a good thing. This feels like the smallest Android version we've ever gotten. I don't know that I would even be able to tell the difference if someone showed me a device running one of each.
12:21 on my Pixel 8 Pro I do not have this setting, although I just upgraded it to Android 15. There is also no charging limit setting unter Setting --> Battery -->Adaptive Charge
9:15 for those unaware, this option comes in hand with those "smart tag" trackers / "apple airtags" / "tiles". These trackers help you find lost items by sending a Bluetooth signal that nearby phones pick up & report anonymously. The trackers work offline, but only if enough people have Bluetooth turned on. In areas / countries where few people use Bluetooth, the trackers might not work as well, so yeah they need to make something to keep Bluetooth enabled in everyone's devices. This is atrocious for battery life tho, even if the name is "Low Energy Bluetooth".
Just installed it on my Pixel 7 Pro. I was really surprised to see Darwin Nunez in my wallpaper gallery. Yes, 6 Liverpool and 6 Arsenal Wallpapers are available in Android 15, lol

Question to people with clean Android on Pixels - is there a built-iin equaliser in the sound settings?I am planning to buy a new Pixel moving away from my old OnePlus, but I am so used to having an equaliser there.
I just checked my settings and I couldn't find an equaliser in the volume settings. I moved from a OnePlus 10 pro as it got stolen and to be honest I've not missed that much of the OnePlus software (apart from the alert slider).
Depends on the country and carrier really. Supposedly the rollout was from 10 a.m. EST today but a lot have gotten nothing yet, so based on last year I'd assume it'll come much later, possibly at the nighttime...
Had it for a couple hours on my P8, and... Underwhelming. Theft protection was opted by default, and I don't really have a need for the locked apps. Why the Files app's Locked Folder, the Photos app's Hidden Photos, and the system's Hide Apps aren't merged into 1 spot with unified controls and settings is confusing, though.
Interesting, I'm missing adaptive screen timeout on my Pixel 8 Pro. And the weather app too! Edit: And device diagnostics. Edit 2: Through research it seems that those will be in the October feature drop at some point this month.
Predictive back animation is a joke. If you try to back on any of these pages: Google settings(include system update, backup, etc), Android system intelligence, permission controller. You will find that there is no animation. And because app list pages(All apps, app notifications, etc) are written in Flutter, the animation is different from other back animations.
9:45 Stock Android still FAILS to add a quick settings TILE TO TURN ON NFC without going into settings. My motorola devices have that by default but google never implements it. This has been happening since android 13
17:33 There should be an option to not show that screenshot thumbnail at the bottom, or at least reduce how long it stays on screen. Right now, it takes 9 whole seconds to disappear, which is way too long and takes up a lot of screen space. I'd be fine with 3 seconds.
Nice Information. Android 15 for pixel phones depends on where it was bought. Like , Google store, Best buy, Amazon , carrier like T mobile, At & T . Google store gets the first update and later on batch wise from where it was bought. Last year my 8 pro got an update after 3 weeks as it was from Best Buy. This year for the 9 pro XL I got today itself as it was from the Google store.
Hit the software update button first, it showed me already upto date. Hit it again and it takes some time until it tells you new OS is available. Try it.
I got the prism 1.0 dbrand screen protector for my p8p and i cant recommend it. It only covers the display area and not the entire screen. It seems like its a fraction too small. So what you get is when the screen is too bright you will get refraction on the edge of the glass creating a rainbow effect. So not only do you have to be incredibly precise when putting it on, it still has issues when you do have it perfect
Most of these features aren't even available on Pixel 7 Pro. This doesn't look like new Android version at all. Everything is same for me even the wallpaper app lol
