Admittedly, I always feel a bit uneasy when doing sponsored content, but I'm glad you guys are always super supportive when I do these videos. Thanks everyone, much appreciated. **walks away with briefcase full of money**
I'm glad Johnny's getting some sponsorship - and from an actually intriguing game, no less. Nobody deserves it more than this guy. Keep it up, Johnny, your reviews have to be some of my favourite and most informative.
See what I love about Johnny's sponsored reviews is he doesn't change anything up from a regular one. He's honest with his opinions, he retains his humour and gives all the info one needs. And it's good exposure for both him and the company/game he's showcasing, so there's really no harm whatsoever. Honestly this game looks really neat, but I'd probably get scared easily cause I hate dark places and tense atmospheres.
Man, I swear. I still can't get over how great that intro is. It's catchy, it's upbeat and fun, it's straight to the point, and it doesn't overstay it's welcome. I don't normally go out of my way to comment on an intro but, damn man. Keep up the excellent work, Johnny!
The only thing that's different to me is the fact that this isn't as funny of a video as his previous ones. But hey, what would you expect from a 5-minute review? Still a good review as always, though!
People on here GENUINELY calling him a sellout for reviewing this game can just shut the fuck up right now. It's hard to be a youtuber these days. Nothing wrong with sponsoring a game especially when it's an extra video for you people to enjoy. My god, it's free content shut up and watch. Great video Johnny.
And John when he does sponsored reviews dosen't even show bias towards them he reviews them and calls out the bullshit like he would any other review so he even isn't really selling out. People are stupid.
Hayden Cox Meanwhile the AVGN review Sonic 06 he a guy who review games from the 80s and 90 he even say how 06 is to current for him. Even in his review he say he is doing a review only because of the requests he is getting And people are fine with it. I mean really people need to notice who is really a sellout
I don't know why people don't like the intro, despite its volume for the poor headphoned folks. I happen to really like it. The music is enjoyable, and you get a small taste of footage that shows the attitude of the channel, which is slightly ironic given the "Vs." in the name. I enjoy the intro, especially since its less than a minute, unlike some other channels I have seen.
I wouldn't mind if Johnny ever needed to do more sponsored content (given how shit RUclips is being right now). They're as enjoyable as ever and some have gotten me to try them out because of how Johnny does his reviews. I've sunk a decent amount of hours into Prison Architect because of it. I know times are touch in the RUclips economy right now, so I don't mind these.
You Tube economy? You do realise that You Tube was never a stable market for income right? Hell just look at the whole TGWTG crowd and how they're resorting to those Patreon dollars just to make ends meet with more than a few saps willing to pay. Whether or not people think its deserved is up to the person but a wise old saying is to never put all your eggs in one basket.
TheSkully343 I've been around since 2007, I'm aware of how the website has changed, reacted to different types of content, changed rules and regulations for video content, remove and add features (I'm gonna bet most people don't remember RUclips having an option for "friends" and "groups", and this was before the Google+ integration. Kinda glad the five star rating system was replaced though). The current ad situation is the worst that RUclipss have had to deal with. I would say the TGWTG problem isn't a similar situation, as that's been a battle with copyright and the fucked lack of a fair use defending system on RUclips. This new situation is relative to advertisers not investing as much in RUclips and especially not in smaller channels, with revamped guidelines that can put your video up for demonetization for even excessively strong language. And I wouldn't call the "eggs in basket" analogy that wise or profound and I agree with the idea, though my comment was to express what I wouldn't mind seeing Johnny do in a situation where monetary recourses may be a little more accessible. No shit RUclips has never been a stable source of income. That can be said for a lot of jobs though, especially creative ones that require constant adaptation. I was pointing out how the current advertiser controversy has made it harder for some creators already, so I wanted to give an input on what I see with John's sponsored videos.
WOW! You've been on You Tube since 2007? And what are these FRIENDS and GROUPS things you're talking about? Woah man you must've seen some serious shit. Seriously though why should advertisers care about You Tube Content Creators when they can easily make their money's worth with corporate sponsors with more of a pull on the market than any You Tuber could ever bring. Hell I'm not entirely surprised since so many more corporations are starting to learn about this whole 'InTOURnet thingie" and maximize their profit margins with this site being nothing more than a vessel to do it. I'm not even talking specifically about Johnny here but most of these content creators turning a profit aren't needed anymore. And hell even in its heyday this kind of thing was only ever done for fun rather than being bewitched by the prospect of "Dat Sexy U-Toob $$$$" Granted I'm not gonna go round saying "Get a real job Hippie" but get some fucking perspective when you see a digital platform like You Tube changing before your eyes and being malleable to moguls and conglomerates with far more power and pull in the world than mere mortals like us or any other content creator with delusions of grandeur. Fact of the matter is and part of the reason why I brought the TGWTGs crew up at all was purely as an example of the very people who were looked up to by this generation of "You Tube reviewer people" saying "Wow These guys are cool and they get paid! I want me some of that SEXY You Tube money and fame while I'm ranting about whatever video game is topical/controversial at the moment" It's a vicious cycle if you're going into this with the intent of making some scratch and it all goes back to the root of all evil known as money.
To all those haters out there, at least he placed SPONSORED in the title...and it's not like he was kissing the company's ass either. He took a look at the game he was given, and gave his honest thought...and it's 5 minutes. So to me, it's totally fine. Great job John.....*waiting for more Mario 64 SGBplays videos*
will you be doing any of these three games after skyward sword. 1, Dynamite Headdy 2, Sonic Before and After the sequel (and I'm talking about both games) 3, Tattletale
I think Johnny should do a marathon for al LakeFeperd's games, not only Before and After the Sequel. Sonic Before the Sequel Aftermath and Chrono Adventure are really unique experiences (mostly CA, Aftermath was a proof of concept for CA). It should end with Spark the Electric Jester, a new game from him (it's less than a month old) and it's AWESOME, I'd love Johnny to review that game and doing the review after Chrono Adventure would finish the marathon with style. I recommend Spark the Electric Jester to all who like Sonic games.
Eh, I didn't like Before/After the sequel. The levels were a bit to gimmicky for me. I find Time Twisted is a better fan game in my opinion, it still does have many flaws though.
Looks nice. Would be pretty cool if there were more horror elements in it like monster coming to kill you and the only way to see them was with the scanner.
Man, I'm a suck for cool physics type guns (or other object held in hand) in first person games. Half Life, Portal, Q.U.B.E, etc. This looks really cool!
fair play to Johnny he has a lot of integrity. A lot of game reviewers would have only said good things about this game but not Johnny he gave his honest opinion.
Huh, reminds me a bit on a game Extra Credits once featured on their "Games you might not have tried" series years back. I can't remember the name, but I think it was a PS3 or X360 game in which you were in a white canvas-like world with a blob of black ink being used to determine the surroundings. Swan... something? **Googles** Yup, "The Unfinished Swan", for PS3
Admittedly, I always feel a bit uneasy when doing sponsored content, but I'm glad you guys are always super supportive when I do these videos. Thanks everyone, much appreciated.
**walks away with briefcase full of money**
TheDevon wtf is wrong with you
Man it's your job no one should be angry with you doing it. Especially since you don't go all dreamy eyed due to you being paid to make the video.
Michael
I'm not sure if he's joking either
Johnny, why do you have a briefcase full of rectangular leaves? :P
You can't tell someone online to kill themselves. That's rude.
...is what I would say if I were your father, which I'm not.
I think Johnny may be the only gaming RUclipsr who doesn't get hate for doing sponsored videos. Deservedly amazing.
+Brannon Centeno
what're you talking about? 90% percent of this comment section is "sellout".
Brannon Centeno the comment above yours calls Johnny a sellout
It's funny how the comment above this one is "More like SomecallmeSELLOUT!"
+Restless
yea.
+Restless
Just a prank, bro.
I'm glad Johnny's getting some sponsorship - and from an actually intriguing game, no less. Nobody deserves it more than this guy. Keep it up, Johnny, your reviews have to be some of my favourite and most informative.
Sponsored or not this was a fair review as always and it got me interested in the game.
Couldn't agree with you more.
Color me surprised.
*claps slowly*
Sir Piguithy a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one
Hm, sure...
*Whips out a LIDAR scanner*
-Scans you-
HOW DARE YOU MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR JOB!
Wad McGee the fucking nerve
Wad McGee XD
See what I love about Johnny's sponsored reviews is he doesn't change anything up from a regular one. He's honest with his opinions, he retains his humour and gives all the info one needs. Why're you guys angry? He did this video with full disclosure, and it's not even different from the content he typically posts anyway.
It's like a running gag, they don't actually mean it.
The only thing that's different to me is the fact that this isn't as funny of a video as his previous ones. But hey, what would you expect from a 5-minute review? Still a good review as always, though!
Flamestar320 power to the people it's not supposed to be always funny , he's good at being informative too
@Flamestar320 power to the people - It's also mostly an atmospheric and experience-driven game, so that may also tie into the lack of comedy.
Hell yeah, Sponsored Sword!
(I'm not mad. I'm just happy to have a video)
It does look quite interesting!
Uh oh a sponsored video, the trolls are gonna field day.
And great to see people take those comments seriously.
Such a symbiote circle that is the RUclips comments.
I don't see any trolls in this comment section though lol
People on here GENUINELY calling him a sellout for reviewing this game can just shut the fuck up right now. It's hard to be a youtuber these days. And John when he does sponsored reviews dosen't even show bias towards them he reviews them and calls out the bullshit like he would any other review so he even isn't really selling out. People are stupid.
All they did was ask him to review their game how is that selling out?
The backlash comments just seem more like people wanting to make a joke rather than actually anger.
Hayden Cox Meanwhile the AVGN review Sonic 06 he a guy who review games from the 80s and 90 he even say how 06 is to current for him. Even in his review he say he is doing a review only because of the requests he is getting
And people are fine with it.
I mean really people need to notice who is really a sellout
CodeNameZ
so.... are you saying that avgn is a sell out for listening to fan request?
You know you've found a good game reviewer when even his sponsored videos are enjoyable :] Keep up the good work Johnny!
Somecallmeaguywhomakesenjoyablecontent. Keep it up man, great work.
All these colors look like some sort of psychedelic trip.
I was hopin it were
Why was the first line I thought upon seeing the actual game:
"You keep telling me to look at the wall and I keep do
But Burrito"
*Insert lame sellout joke here*
mr enter editor hi
Words cannot describe how much I love your new intro
I don't know why people don't like the intro, despite its volume for the poor headphoned folks. I happen to really like it. The music is enjoyable, and you get a small taste of footage that shows the attitude of the channel, which is slightly ironic given the "Vs." in the name. I enjoy the intro, especially since its less than a minute, unlike some other channels I have seen.
This version of intro music is still the best one.
I don't know anything about this game but it gives me a valid reason to see that clean intro again
in regards to the game it seems pretty cool if I had money I'd get the game (and also the PC to play it on)
I swear to God I will never get tired of this new intro or its theme music. Tee Lopes is a legend.
I want to see Johnny vs. Tales of Symphonia. Who's with me?
He doesn't like reviewing RPGs because of how long they are...
But on the other hand, he reviewed the entire Metal Gear series, so... w/e XD
The Dank Lord Sauron ...is that a Skyrim reference, or is it a completely different game?
Hey, this game looks pretty........SPONSORED! UNSUBBED!
UncleSilver Gaming I already unsubscribed 5 channels because they sponsored this game. JK
You are the most supportive uncle I've ever met.
That's not a joke btw.
Heck, I unsubscribed, just to resubscribe.
Rumor has it....
....He had a 99% completion rate in a Metroid game.
SIMPLY.
*DISGUSTING.*
Computer-Monster UNACCEPTABLE.
Best Intro 2017 is it bad that I constantly replay it?👌💯😂
no
Dont lie its awesome i bet you cant even make one💯💯👀😀😁😁
I believe he might have meant "No, it is not bad that you constantly replay it".
hydrodeath I sincerely apologize 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Stop spamming emojis.
I like how even when doing sponsored videos you still give your honest opinion
These type of one time experience games are my life, great video as always
The Skyward sword video is a lot shorter than I thought. Also he misspelled the name after the first two letters.
I like that hating on sponsored content is just a meme now and people enjoy the content regardless.
Cool looking game, unique idea for a game
I wouldn't mind if Johnny ever needed to do more sponsored content (given how shit RUclips is being right now).

It's a vicious cycle if you're going into this with the intent of making some scratch and it all goes back to the root of all evil known as money.
Watching this reminds me of those awesome stereogram pictures you used to get in the 90's.
i'm always up for new Johnny content:)
How dare you do a sponsored video and make a living. You should be starving like the rest of us entitled peasants living off our parents' money.
blazehenry1 what
blazehenry1
It's a joke about all the complaints about sponsored videos.
I know, right?
What ever happend to the good ol days of picking up pennies on the side walk and saving them up?
hey, I am retarded enough to live on government money!
+Computer-Monster
"When you find a nickel in the snow, don't waste it on a picture show, put it in your cap, put it in your cap"
Shiny rainbow colours! *Drools from the intense colour contrast*
Every time, I forget that Johnny has a legit intro, and every time I hear it start up, I grin from ear to ear. ^_^
So speed runs can be summed up as "The colors are so bright, the colors feel so right, I've never felt like this so I'll keep on running!"
as soon I was I gonna turn off my phone this this nonification popped up...great timing there John.
Does anyone know where to find the song at the very end of this video? The one he put over the annotation screen?
God its so freaky when I literally just left steam looking at this game and then this video is my feed.
I appreciate you saying that you were sponsored.
Next he'll tell us how he's always loved online casinos and that we can get an app to play it, rather than use a browser.
I'm into these sort of games and I think I would have missed it if you didnt make a video about it. Great video.
Two Johnny vs videos in one week?
You are too kind Johnny boy.
Damn, can't get enough of that snazzy intro.
Why is my internet s***ing the bed now? Why not later when I'm *not* watching my favourite reviewer do his job?
FUCL DAMN IT I LOVE THAT INTRO
Johnny I know you have more mugs than just Luigi, you should mix it up for the next video.
John can't go a video without a Sonic reference.
That intro Tho... It's so great
"The game's rockier territory" Johnny, it's a cave, it's all rocks
Cool idea... That being said, I can't help but nitpick that THAT isn't how LiDAR works.
Lewis, Lewis, Lewis...
Logic is dangerous in the realm of fiction, don'tcha know?
I don't get that reference, if it is one.
Lewis is a member of BrainScratchComms (which John is a part of) who tends to try and logic everything
Ooooh, now I do get it. I only watch Johnny, so that went completely over my head.
So i got a new mic and editing program. I might upload a LP
Johnny made a video. That's all the reason I need to watch it wether it's a sponsored video or not.
Nice review Johnny :), Sponsored or not its always nice seeing a new video from you in the sub box!
Johnny finally got sponsored! Yay!
Sponsored Video.....Somecallmejohnny is moving up
will you be doing any of these three games after skyward sword.
1, Dynamite Headdy
2, Sonic Before and After the sequel (and I'm talking about both games)
3, Tattletale
Jared Green I think you mean after he does BoTW
Sorry I forgot about the new one.

Dammit Johnny, your Prison Architect video was only a year and a half ago, time moves fast enough already, I don't need this, lol
"Paint the town red and hopefully other colors too"-Toad#2875
Reminds me of those cheap christmas light projectors people use during the holidays instead of stringing real lights.
Dig the intro dude. Well done.
Loving the new theme song dude, keep it up (ps.... I may be going to TooManyGames)
Hey, this game actually looks really cool. Gonna add it to my wishlist for summer sale lol
Looks nice. Would be pretty cool if there were more horror elements in it like monster coming to kill you and the only way to see them was with the scanner.
Good vid man! .... This game looks pretty cool, and sombre...
Man, I'm a suck for cool physics type guns (or other object held in hand) in first person games. Half Life, Portal, Q.U.B.E, etc. This looks really cool!
I thought the title said "Scammer Sombre."
I want to play that game now.
I actually got to see the ending and it caused me to think about it more about the story.
Okay, this one actually had me interested.
Johnny forces me to watch a sponsored video and enjoys it
Paranoia would take over in a about 5 seconds of I played this
Really hope a VR version is made in the future. The game does seem tailor made for it.
"Didn't think it was possible for a game to be dark and colorful at the same time" ummm... EarthBound?
Man this game in VR was amazing
I loved the colors. I think I'll buy this
Short and sweet video! Love it Johnny :)
Sombre, Somber
Colors, Colours
Potato, Potahtoe
Cool Whip, Cool Hwip
Cool, looks like there's an experimental steam vr mode now
so you see like the kinect but without colors.
fair play to Johnny he has a lot of integrity. A lot of game reviewers would have only said good things about this game but not Johnny he gave his honest opinion.
Finally, Johnny covered Sonic Colors.
I think you can play it with a VR headset. It's just not required.
Love the new intro.
Game seems like it'd be awesome with VR. It also looks like it could do with a bit more imminent danger.
"It's just you and your grocery scanner, price check on these falling dumbasses"

Huh, this actually looks like a pretty cool game- I mean experience...
Hello anonymous RUclips comments lurker, No "sellout" comments to be seen here, just people complaining about it.

Will you review *Spark the Electric Jester*
"Price check on these falling dumbasses." XD
*_HA HA_* I like how he said "This ain't skyward sword" Like he thought we were depressed to _not_ have it. RIGHT GUYS
right...
It certainly has my interest
honest review johnny. respect.
Johnny has the best shirts ever I swear.
Reminds me of Unfinished Swan I believe it was called.
Is that opening gonna be in all your videos from now on? Because I am TOTALLY down with that! I like it!
Love the new opening. When can I get it on Amazon?
answer me this.....y is it bad that he is doing a sponsored game.
I love you so much Johnny
your profile picture says otherwise . . .
