It’s like that one magical story you have that one time with many twists and turns to it, borderline feeling like the story to a movie, and then after that, life is just very normal for you for a number of years.
Kinda hits a little for some people like me who doesn’t really travel much to go do wacky or crazy things.
To be fair on that wish for each character you interrogate to have a unique minigame, the characters do introduce new obstacles to the THINK minigame. Thrown shurkens for Espio and chaos spears for Shadow, for example. It's not much, but they do change it up based on character.
Even as an April Fool's joke, this is a genuinely great experience, and it gave us some well needed attention for the other Sonic characters. They're the best they've been written in a long ass time.
Honestly, I'm down for the series doing some more experimental things. The fact this came out for free was pretty cool.
Edit: 17:20 Also, I want to point out I just beat the game on deck and the deck does support buttons.
Agreed, with all the lore, various characters with unique abilities, all the crazy enemy designs and more I'm surprised Sega hasn't approached Atlus or the Phantasy Star team for another Sonic RPG.
@@lynxfresh5214 Sonic Chronicles is such a sad story. A more expansive lore driven Sonic rpg with writers from the comics with actual good gameplay and music sounds like a dream.
I dunno, i feel they should improve what works rather than just throw stuff at the wall to see what sticks. We had the storybook games and lost world for experimental stuff, I'm ready to see a fleshed out hedgehog engine fame.
@MrFlamingpride I mean you can polish a formula that works while still adding new things every now and then. Spinoff can be a bit more lenient.

I absolutely LOVED what they did with the characters in this game. *Especially* Rouge. I love that she is a smart character. But also sometimes just as dumb as Knuckles

I hope if Sonic Team ever properly introduces IDW characters to main-line games (I want a Tangle game so bad that it hurts) they consider putting out another low-stakes VN prominently featuring the newcomer(s) within the more familiar cast as a sorta introduction to game-only fans. It can be a low-budget, effective way to introduce a new character to an audience and show how they bounce off and relate to the more well-known cast.
As a fan of both you and ace attorney seeing you cover visual novels would be great. I know there's the ace attorney retrospective on bsc from years ago but there's been new games and your opinions have probably changed. Just hearing your thoughts on the story and characters again would be really fun.
This video was also great, nice to see you just enjoy a sonic thing without having to be too analytical and critical about it due to its nature
I personally love the idea how Vector is a goofy dude who likes loud music and is a legitimately good detective. He figured out that his client was Eggman pretty quickly in Heroes.
It's all part of being a good detective.

The only other reason I love Sonic Frontiers is the boss music and especially Sage
So seeing her in this game made me smile
Rouge was the "Entrepreneur" which is clever because in murder mystery stories the "undefined job" character is always a front for something like how they actually make money (theft for example)
I like to point out, when Blaze ask Berry if he committed any wars crimes, he didn't say no, Berry said "Well I um.." implying that he has committed war crimes in the past.
With a plot like this, if they'd had more time and a larger budget, it would have been perfect for a randomised murderer.
I would honestly love an Ace Attorney review marathon from this channel later down the line
Me and a few friends of mine did a playthrough on this game and the entire 3 hour call was just filled with laughing and wheezing at everything. All of us were just laughing at all the references and making theories left and right, it really made me feel like a kid again. Props to everyone involved, that Sage cameo at the end actually had us applauding lmao.

With that said, I’ve been waiting for years to hear your thoughts on Ace Attorney and I’d never know when or if you’d get around to it. I’m pumped to hear your considering it, my full support is behind that idea. I think this video demonstrated well enough (to me at least) that that could work.
Also finally a review where I can actually watch it on release because I’ve played the game already and don’t need to worry for spoilers! Funny that.

I'd honestly love a review series on Ace Attorney or Danganronpa. And if you're worried about visuals, don't worry. Danganronpa is so balls to the wall insane I promise you'll have plenty of imagery to work with. It's the very best kind of crazy in my opinion

My fiance is the biggest fan of Our Life and I never expected to see that game ever referenced on any big RUclips channel, much less SCMJ. To all you visual novel fans out there, I highly suggest giving Our Life a try. It's very wholesome, you have a lot of options for your character, and it's just genuinely a good time.

Shadow being a wholesome brother-in-law, Omachao being a wanted fugitive, and Blaze wanting verification as to whether or not you're a war criminal before dating her, were not on my bingo board for a Sonic Visual Novel but here we are.

I'd never heard of this visual novel, so I checked this video out thinking that it was about what Sega has done since the mid-1990s.
This game made it canon that Shadow eats coffee beans with a spoon, and I love it for that.

The Visual Novel that changed my life was Angels with Scaly Wings.
This kinda reminds me of Tangle Tower. It's a really charming detective game Visual Novel with full voice acting, mini games for the mystery solving, and really fun and charming characters and writing. It's part of a series and really fun and rather short go through.
...well this is a funny way to prep for superstars and the possible round 2 for sonic frontiers

Love to see you branching out, and like some others in the comments, very happy to see The Holden's from Our Life: Beginning and Always! Though I think The Suarez family is my favorite. Interested in the rest of the video (since I enjoyed the game), but wanted to post first since seeing representation of that game always makes me happy!

Please cover more visual novels! Like you mentioned with Ace Attorney, it's a genre that's hard to get into at first but once you get to it you get to experience one of the best games in this medium

The fact that outside of comics, this is the most a lot of the expanded Sonic cast has had to do in years is a big highlight for the game. Its a shame Sonic team is so uninterested in them now besides Tails, Knuckles and Amy

I never played this game but I find it hilarious in idea, plus I can easily see shadow being the sort of person who would be more into shooters, maybe not COD but medium to relax shooters, though also someone who would experiment, I like him as a character especially in his recent potrays.

I think Danganronpa could be good to tackle as a visual novel. It has a good mix of gameplay and being a visual novel. Pyre could be good too, that's a fantastic game by Supergiant, which is part sports rpg and visual novel.

Master Detective Archives Rain Code is a Dangenronpa spinoff/spiritual successor from the same developer that's a bit more involved and is pretty good. Not very visual Novely, but it's a nice looking game and has a great cast.
It is so cursed to hear "Danganronpa" leave your lips after having been with the channel for ages.
It'd be cool as hell to see you review a game from Kotaro Uchikoshi - stuff like the Zero Escape trilogy [999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors; Virtue's Last Reward; & Zero Time Dilemma] and ESPECIALLY the AI The Somnium Files duology, the latter of which being two of my favorite games of all time.
