As an adult, who is totally blind, autistic, and has complex trauma, I do self injurious behaviors. I will hit myself in the head, scratched myself, bite, myself, and pinch myself. There are many reasons why I do this. If I’m having complex trauma flashbacks, I will do self injurious behaviors as a way to make the flashbacks go away, or as a way to communicate, that I am having flashbacks of my complex childhood trauma. Sometimes I will bang my head, not hard though when I’m wanting sensory input. Sometimes I will do self injurious behaviors to communicate that I’m in pain, or that I don’t feel safe, or even a fight or flight response. Sometimes I even have self injurious behavior if I make a mistake, and I should’ve done it perfectly. We are working on ways of dealing with the self injurious behavior.

I have a 9 year old and a 4 year old with autism. The 4 year old whines and sqeals all the time causing the 9 year old to scream and have SIB. Which then causes my 3 year old to scream etc. How do I stop the squealing for no reason from the 4 year old. So that it won't cause all other to get upset causing chaos

See if you can find the underlying reason for the screaming - that will help with identifying strategies that work.
