    Hi Steve - I am fortunate to have a Triangle dealer where I live, and I have heard the Comet EZ (one step “up”) as well as the Gaia towers, both with my own amplifier. I agree whole heartedly with your impressions. The one word I would use to describe Triangle speakers is that they are FAST! There is a life and realism to the music that just engaged me. I preferred the Gaias as they have more low frequency extension. While not the ultimate in bass response (2 x 5.25” woofers,) the Gaias are much better suited for me. In the EZ line the Antals would be even better, but my primarily listening room is quite small and I’m concerned they might overpower the room though the extra sensitivity would be welcome as I have an SET amp.
    I pretty much agree that these speakers and others in the EZ line are not for rocking out hard; they wouldn’t be an embarrassment, but for acoustic, jazz, most pop, etc., I think they’re hard to beat.
    I’m sure the good folks at the distributor would be happy to provide review samples of other Triangle speakers. IMO I think they are one of the best values in the audiophile space.

      I never worry much about bass extension on a bookshelf so long as the rest is great. A sub can always be added if so desired. I don't care for speakers that add a 60hz hump to fake bass.

    • @PanAmStyle
      @PanAmStyle 5 лет назад

      Scott Lowell I agree, but in my room it would be a challenge to place a good sub, due to space limitations. Currently I am using double Advents - not the best in resolution and speed, but sort of a fun throwback until I pull the trigger on the Triangles. Or something else 😂

      @@mikaelfrancois7512 Yes, I preferred the Gaia. There seem d to be more foundation to the music. For me there needs to be *enough* quality bass to underpin the rest of the frequency spectrum. That’s what makes music reproduction more whole and organic, at least for me.

    One of the most underrated and overlooked brands in the game. Was introduced to them a few years ago when I was first heard a pair of their towers, of which I can't remember the name but they were finished in a beautiful red and were actually pretty cheap, under $1400(after Indian import taxes) and I was simply stunned by the performance of those speakers. Haven't heard any of their recent models, but thanks to your video now I'm reminded of them again and will probably contact the Distributor soon.

      Hi Raul, I would also be interested in your feedback. I currently own a pair of Triangle BR02 as desktop speakers (1m/1.5m away from me)... and was willing to upgrade to a Titus EZ for their horn and better trebbles... but should/could I use a pair of Comete EZ as desktop speaker? wouldn't it be "too much of a good thing"? (I've found a shop selling a pair of Comete EZ at 700€... it's very tempting).
      I'm listening to all kind of music... maybe a bit more of Jazz and it's true the Triangle make my jazz records shine!

    I have owned a pair of triangle quartets for years now, and consider them my final speakers, it’s pure love....i have heard pretty much the entire lineup, and the signature or ez is the sweetspot, especially when using tube amps due to their high sensitivity as the magellans need many watts to show what they can do. I dont think most people would want anything more than a pair of Gaias in life, to be honest. Also, 10/10 waf across the brand.

    I am not so sure that really is a horn tweeter??? Seems to look like a dome tweeter set inside a horn-esque wave guide. Am I mistaken? In fact it seems like a lot of the modern "horn" tweeters are like this. Inexpensive Klipsch have membranes inside that appear to be a dome style tweeter as well. Maybe I need more info but I always thought horns were basically just a magnet within a horn like old PA speakers. Could you provide more info sometime?

    • @anonmouse956
      @anonmouse956 4 года назад +2

      Looks to me like a horn using an exponential curve to mate the sound wave with the air as is done in musical instruments such as trumpets, trombones, etc. Items like the Klipsch like to use the tractrix curve because it needs less space back to front to get good results. I think what you are thinking of as a true horn is a compression driver which is simply the most extreme possible application of the horn concept. It is used in PA systems because nothing else can be as efficient.

      Michael You’re implying that just because I like something I have to continue to say it’s the best there is? The triangle is better in the way as I described in the video.

      Hi Steve...yeah, no speaker does everything / is the best per se. I guess speakers are like women to me...you pick one you love and stay with them within a given system unless there are issues. The only difference is one can own speakers but hopefully not have multiple woman partners. Constant comparing is also not a hot button for me. My goal is to always enjoy the music / emotional connections via good audio gear, of which there are gobs to choose from, as you know.
      And yes, I am a Triangle fan, actually came close to buying them before deciding on the LS50's.... but as Steve Jobs once said and I paraphrase..."you have one horse to run the race so take your pick among lots of good horses and go with it."

      He just introducing another option. The LS 50’s are flagship well respected reference speaker
      I own a pair but I’m always open to different options
      The LS 50 are not all rounders, they reproduce and present very well, but they are also flawed.
      There is no perfect speaker and mostly speakers are more inclined towards personal taste.
      They are not finite

    LS50 - the most overrated speaker on the market. In the UK they just dropped the price from £1200 to £800...still too much for such a brutal sound.

    Steve will this trend of being hirny never end?Sorru just felt I had to toss that out.No I am down having a pair of Odeon Tosca horns from late 90's which also have doped paper cones.To be it would be interesting to look at various materials and see whether they always produce certain sound.One would think that with Stats,Planars etc.But the quality of my sound I think is less to do with driver that the x-over execution below.Maybe even more I'd like to know why this speaker is less or that Klipsch sound ("bite" maybe good but some would say "shrill" or "harsh").Still my speakers I referred to as "Poor Man's Avantgardes" because most people know the Klipsch sound and some like it others think it is either harsh or "cuppy".It would be interesting to to know the differences and implementation of compression and non-compression,folded etc in this realm.My problem is I like a lot of attributes and one thing I like about KEF is the imaging which I assume is aided primarily by it it's coaxial design.That's one thing you didn't seem tp go into here was imaging depth,width etc,But yes Triangle was in France and they were as ubiquitous as JBL/Harmon in the States and B&W everywhere' Like to here these two and toss in pair of Revel and SVS's

      well, I pretty much agree, speakers should be more full range not the almost universal now ' designed for a Sub' ( while admitting the sub trend is actually a good design, espec. for style IF Ya want unobtrusive main spks. I prefer old school.) I think 2 6.5 spks move as much air as a ten in. sub, properly designed. prime example, Polk LS 3 SHOULD have been and I think Polk easily could have designed them for stronger low bass - I'm talking what I think is low E on electric bass, is it 42 hz, and is kick drum usually tuned to mid 40's as well ? I'm thinking music not movie explosions of course.

    I'm truly sorry but I disagree about amps and or power. Just a Yamaha 100 wpc/rms reciever.
    That's all the power and clarity you need. And that particular reciever is only about $130 bucks on Amazon.
    It's old school class A/B amp.
    And damn inexpensive.
