    Something I found quite interesting. "Femto" is a unit prefix from the SI-system, used to indicate a factor 10^-15.
    So basically, Griffith was nicknamed "One in a quadrillion". Neat little detail, with causality and all.

      My thoughts exactly. Conrad looks like the typical 'fat friar' archetype, with his exoskeleton as his habit. What little we do see of him during the Eclipse and other God Hand moments has him calling up the 'altar' and announcing the commencement of ceremonies, which would make him the president (in the old fashioned term) of rituals.

    For Slaan I think it's possible that in her human life she was a super extra mega virgin who was completely innocent and was twisted by inner sexual conflict kinda like Farnese and even Guts to a degree. I think it could make sense cus Griffindor used to look pure and white and Noble with at least some moral code, but then he became a darker, more twisted version of himself that better represented his secret urges and his ruthless ambition to get what he wants at any cost. This also explains why Slaan taunts our black swordfish so much because she used to be sexually repressed when she was alive just like him and she knows what's underneath.

      @Golden Yuri Griffith was disgraced by a king BECAUSE the king was jealous of his charisma. So, yeah, Griffith was charismatic. Although I don't think charisma would be a direct requirement to be a God Hand. Certainly all of them would have been influential in their time, and most of them probably were charismatic, but others might have influenced through fear, deception, or other means.

    • @addicted2p0rn
      @addicted2p0rn 5 лет назад +29

      @GoldenYuri I think that the God Hand transformation process actually began the moment Griffith was thrown into the tower. His mutilation made him a completely different person and secured the sacrifice. That period was his Death. Life, Death, Rebirth.

    I don't think there will be another god hand member. I've noticed that when Griffith was chosen to be a god hand, the "hand" made out of corpses had one finger without a member on it, and I think it was meant for Griffith. So basically, I think that only five god hand members can exist at a time.

    Well, since skull knight is 1000 years old, and 216 times 4 (the godhand - femto, since he has only been a god hand for a few years) is 864. We know skull knight travels a lot, so it's possible that he knows the backstory for each godhand member and has likely been there for each eclipse. We know SK knows Slans backstory, as he called her the Whore Queen of the Uterine sea. Maybe SK will tell Guts the godhand backstories eventually.

    • @spazzmaticus9086
      @spazzmaticus9086 6 лет назад +12

      Also, if Gaeserics story was 1000 years ago by Femtos birth, that means that void became a god hand when Gaeseric was 166 - 186 years old if he was in adulthood, which kind of doesn't make sense if void was the Wiseman in Gaeserics story. The Story would have to be 900 years old with Gaeseric being 30 years old when it happens if Void is the wise man.

  • @Kirramagic
    @Kirramagic 7 лет назад +239

    Hai yo! Zego! XD
    Since you've asked for theories I will give you my take on the GodHand members.
    Void: Definitely the Wise Man who was in the tower of Rebirth. I think personally for a basic back story, he was a researcher/alchemist character who dabbled in dark sorcery which was probably forbidden in that era of time he lived. He could have been using human sacrifices to try and reap huge amounts of power and in his thirst for forbidden knowledge. Skull knight's incarnation of Gaiseric learning of this, then had Void punished severely thus this lead to the eventual destruction of his kingdom by Void's hand summoning the God Hand of that time. Void might have also killed someone close to Gaiseric in the time of his rule to result in this extreme torture.
    Condrad: I think for him, he might have been a doctor or a healer of some kind. I think this because of his hands being in prayer and his garbs resembling robes of healer types. He might have been blamed for certain outbreaks of disease and pestilence in his era. He then could have been persecuted by the people he once loved and healed, then when the God Hand came and he was turned into another member, he might have killed the entire providence he cared for as a sacrifice. This would then explain why he uses rats and other pestilence to torment the living for harming and betraying him in an ironic twist.
    Ubik: For him, I think he could have been a wiseman/adviser to a great ruler. He might have abused his power in his position then to turn things in his favour using deceit. He might have even tried to usurp power from the person he served and upon finding out of this, that ruler then at that time could have had him punished by having his legs cut off for being slippery and underhanded. Also another possibility is he might have been thrown out to sea and left to drown, that might also explain his appearance (Kudos to you for noticing the legless part of him.)
    Slan: Finally, for our lovely Slan. I think she was probably a princess of royalty. Based on the fact of Skull Knight calling her the Whore Princess Of The Uterine Sea. I think she was a wild child that was fed up of the pomp and privilege lifestyle she lead, with it being extremely restrictive in what she could or could not do. Thus she might have sneaked away to indulge herself in forbidden pleasures. (I think she might have a passing resemblance to a famous roman empress called Messalina.)
    Then when she was found out she might have been then forced to wed and angry at this especially after giving birth, she would have resented her husband and child for binding her down to the lifestyle she didn't want. Then in revenge she summoned the God Hand and sacrificed her husband and child for the power to do whatever she pleased.
    Sorry it's so long winded! XP
    But I hope you find something interesting in these thoughts! Keep it up with your awesome vids!

      That's true I won't deny that fact.
      But it is possible to have conflicting feelings for those you choose to sacrifice, where you both love and hate that individual simultaneously. Prime example with Griffth's feelings towards Guts, he loved and hated him for being being the one person he could trust as brother and hated for making him lose sight of his dream.

      but I think Slan had a similar role as Luca but in this story the people who she helped betrayed her in the end. She was blamed for everything and was tortured in every possible way. She looks at the people who she helped during execution and no one helped. That is the time she made the sacrifice.

  • @zgabiz95
    @zgabiz95 5 лет назад +10

    -just my opinion-..
    If you follow the set of "rules" of the series you can kinda make sense of alot of yet unexplained characters and events, for example, many times throughout the series it is said that the physical world and it's inhabitants fuel the spiritual world, it was created by human emotion and thoughts. SK even said that if the collective thoughts of everyone is strong enough it can create a phenomenon, like the dream of the falcon of light, it fueled the spiritual world and gave it enough power to give birth to Griffith. with that in mind, imagine someone that has a really strong and pure will/thought/desire, like Griffith with his destructive ambition to become king, he has no equal in that regard that's why he has such position in the spiritual world. every godhand members needs to have that kind of trait to be.. well.. a godhand.
    all of the godhand members work together in a indirect way to fuel their power through humans, Ubik is clearly responsible for conjuring the dream everyone throughout Midland had.
    Slan is responsible for all the the dark desires and lusts (and also empowered by them) like the orgies some of the cults have in the series and oh yeah, the ungodly amount of rape and sexual violence.
    Conrad is responsible for all the famine, hunger and diseases which becomes more prominent before Griffith arrives to the physical world.
    Void is the first godhand and seems like the only guy that can literally make portals, which leads me to believe he made all the Beheliths.
    Griffith is the last piece of the puzzle he represents the human ambition which makes sense if he's gonna be the king and leader of the entire human race.
    i also think Guts will have to tackle the dilemma of becoming a godhand at one point, he always carry a Behelith, he constantly struggle with soul crushing challenges, it's only a matter of time before he deals with something that will push him over the edge.

    Voids appearance to me seems to be heavily influenced by the mascot Vic Rattlehead of the legendary thrash metal band "Megadeth" but much more cool looking. Vic is a skeleton who has a metal visor nailed over his eyes, a mouth clamped shut, and his ears have metal plugs in them. The theme is "see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil". This is Vics creation story.
    Prepare the patient's scalp
    To peel away
    Metal caps his ears
    He'll hear not what we say
    Solid steel visor
    Riveted across his eyes
    Iron staples close his jaws
    So no one hears his cries
    I cant say that Void will share the same ideals as Vic but I am surprised that no one really brings this similarity up. Also Vic sides with those who are oppressed and those who suffer in society which is definitely not something Void cares about.

      So, in stark contrast, Void hears, sees, and, speaks no GOOD
      Even as a human, he found the goodness in humans repulsive, so he rebelled in any way he could
      Eventually, he comes across the Crimson Beherit, giving him the chance to become a God Hand member
      And what did he sacrifice? Or whom? Hard to say; we simply don't know who/what he loved most. Could've been a stain on some clothes

    Good Good day zegodhand , I'm a fan of your page and Berserker, this is the first time I comment on your videos , I do it because recently as a few pals of mine and myself talked about berserk we spoke about a chapter from the manga ( I'm rereading the whole thing to find the chapter ) in which Griffiths soul is transported before a giant vortex. This vortex speaks to him calling myself what people call god. I'd love a video on this, it's in my opinion the single biggest mystery and possibly the "final boss" of berserk

    God hand members are born every 216 years (or so), then why would a new God hand member appear after they leave Elfhelm? maybe a god hand member would manifest to attack Guts and the gang (sorta like Slan did), that would be cool as fuck, the god hand has been pretty much absent from the story for a while now

    We could try to deduce a couple of things based on the finger of the hand they are allocated to. There has to be some symbolic behind. Femto is the index, that always showd toward an objective, that kind match his insatiable ambition. Void is the thumb, likely the first, boss, thumb being loosely considered as the most important, opposable finger to do something. Slan is the middle finger... need i say more?

  • @MsAbixxx

    I’d like to imagine that before members of the god hand ascend, when they are human and have to sacrifice something, their sacrifices were on a much larger scale.
    Femto - Sacrifices his entire band of the Hawk.
    Void - Perhaps he sacrifices an entire kingdom as the Wise Old Man.
    What this means is that they may have each sacrificed a large group of people. More than just the one or two other apostles offer up. Something on a grand scale worthy of their power and titles.

    I hope that when they leave elfhelm about 500 years have passed so we could actually see a new godhand and maybe the start of a new cycle(?).
    About Silat and Ricket I think that the time in Silat's hometown moves similarly to Elfhelm because they are both secluded places in the Berserk world so we can progress in the story and see new cool stuff while keeping them in the story.

    I imagine that the behelit used is equally as important as the person using it. There is a vast difference in the power between the Apostles and the Godhand, such that I think their trials would mirror that of Griffiths (Godhand) and the Count (Apostle). We know how Griffith became a Godhand, we have a pretty good idea of how Void did it, and the backstory of some of the Apostles. The origin stories of the other Godhand would be Epics similar to Griffiths rise to power and hopefully Muira will go into more detail (a detailed flashback of their former lives just as Guts destroys them would be dope) but sadly I don't think it will happen. Anyways cool video. May the BumpFist Brohand you back Zegodhand.

    I think ithe obvious inspiration for the God Hand is Hellraiser. I mean Miura took a lot of cues from that movie or the novella hellbound heart. The characters could co exist in both fictional universes without any problem.The beherit is also a catalyst to fulfill ones desire/dreams albeit with a terrible price just like the lament configuration box. I hope we get a backstory for void. .

    As for Ubik, there is the upfront reference to the book by PKD and bending reality and changing the nature of death and other psychic things. Ubik could have be an intellectual or some kind of science, disconnected from the reality of his world and lost in the study of 'the other realm'.
    I think him being crippled is a good reason to explain his ability to fly, but maybe there's some other aspect of disfiguration that can explain the rest of his appearance.

    I think Slan had a similar role as Luca but in this story the people who she helped betrayed her in the end. She was blamed for everything and was tortured in every possible way. She looks at the people who she helped during execution and no one helped. That is the time she made the sacrifice.

  • @coulterbaker4663
    @coulterbaker4663 6 лет назад

    One point to consider is the fact that, taking Griffith, Rosine and the Count (pre-transformation of course) as examples, apostles/Godhand are not typically shown to be lowlife scum or even bad people, rather, they are largely good people who are pulled into terrible siuations thugh their own mistakes or forces beyond their control, and particularily in the case of Griffith, in order to ascend to godhood, typically needed to have strong ties to people, sometimes large amounts which would then be used as sacrifices. There are exceptions such as the egg shaped apostle, but he was a pretty unique instance, imo. But when considering Griffith in particular, he needed hundereds of people who were dedicated to him to sacrifice, which makes one wonder if the other godhand members were similar to griffith, and had similar influence/people surrounding them who they had close ties to in order to sacrifice.

  • @pustulio81
    @pustulio81 7 лет назад

    Based on Griffith's transformation, it would seem they attain the ability to remove the thing that hurts them the most, so that it never can, again.
    Griffith lost everything, and sank into a severe depression after Guts left, and it's only natural that he would want to be free from what binds him, so his transformation granted him that, by way of stripping him of all emotion. It's would make sense that all of them had something similar happen.
    That could even extend to the apostles. It could be that "Zodd" was an incredibly weak man, who was constantly beaten down by everyone, both mentally, and physically. His transformation granted him what wanted the most, which was to be an unrivalled warrior.

  • @psevdhome

    I envision the God Hand members to be some great people who had great potential and followers but who sacrificed that potential to become a demon. And those parts on their body that is "covered" by the demons skin (black stuff) is probably things that their human bodies lacked when they made the sacrifice. Griffith's entire body was non-functional so his body is covered by a second skin so that it can move. His tendons on his arms and legs are severed and his femto body has external tendons so I imagine those are there to replace the ones that were lost. Nothing is healed in the demonic transformation but rather replaced.
    I imagine that Void lead some sort of campaign against Gaiseric and realized that his strength and the strength of his followers would never be enough to overcome Gaiseric so he sacrificed them all, maybe the entirety of the city to ascend to demonhood and gain the power to fight Gaiseric.
    Slann's design seems just sexualised with no subtle or hidden meanings to her body. But that is the reason I will try to look at what hints it could give us. Her midriff is covered by a corset that attaches to her wings. The corset reminds me of an artist who had an injured spine and painted about her pain. I imagine that Slann in her mortal existance was hurt or lost her beauty or ability to use her beauty and sacrifed those that followed her to regain it. Since Femto does pursue his dream even in his demon form, I imagine so does Slann, who is after all after our main man Guts for some sexual exploits. Perhaps she had a male lover that spurned her after her accident.

As someone able to open up windows in time, and with a penchant of manipulating the meaning to suit his ends, perhaps Ubik was some sort of oracle in his past life?

    I see the God Hand as having a very heavy influence from that of Hellraiser. Namely the appearance and functionality of the Cenobites. I could be wrong or looking to deep into it but if you watch enough Hellraiser you can not deny that the similarities are almost uncanny.
