Maybe he sacrificed his mortality. In that he wants to fight the strongest entity there is, and think Zodd would be ecstatic to die at the hand of some super strong warrior(Guts, for example). That he will never die a honorable death.
@@puretestosterone9614 Hmm, or what if he sacrificed his free will? Hear me out, what if Gutts can oppose the Godhand thanks to never accepting his fait like the rest of the Band of the Hawk innevitably did? I mean didn't even Judea in his last moments, accept that he would never be with Casca and thus his own death?
I really would love an origin for Zodd, He is a very interesting enemy. You can tell there is so much more to him than Griffith’s other neo hawks. He just needs more story to show us his true potential as a character.
I think it's possible that Zodd joins Guts' travelling party in the future. He's seeking a fight unlike any other he's experienced, and he'd definitely get one if he joined Guts. It'd be them literally against the world. It's inevitably going to be disappointing for him when Griffith literally conquers the world, as there will be no one left to fight. Him being Griffith's bitch steed is a real waste in my opinion, and I feel that him joining Guts' party would have him rediscover the thrill of fighting alongside companions again. Plus I really want to see him fuck up Grunbeld.
There's a lot of things I wish to know but I specifically more than all want to know 3 things. What is the God hand and why do they exist? What is Skull knights story? What's Zodds story? I hope I'm still alive whenever we get those answers. Lol
I've noticed your sub count has really shot up recently, I just wanted to congratulate you. I've been watching your berserk videos for years and they've always been amazing. Bless you zegodhand, bless your soul 🙏
He had to of been some barbarian that sacrificed his tribe to satiate his blood lust. Maybe, even he knew what he did was wrong, thus he wants an opponent that was worthy of their sacrifice.
I do believe that Zodd will eventually turn against Griffith or at least leave him right before his downfall. And yeah, I would love to learn more about his backstory. Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Damn I never thought of that. Berserker armor gutts final form would be skull knight but if he activated a behelit he would be Zodd. Very true. Very very true.
I think Zodd backstory is tied up with the Skull Knight Backstory. Them being Rival for such a long time probably mean they knew each others before they both turned into what they are now. Probably a similar story to what Guts and Griffith shares
The Horn getting bigger I believe could very well be a visual symbol for Zodd being focused on a particular point (Guts); whereas, before the horns pointed in two different directions. Possibly symbolic of his aimlessness as he went from battlefield to battlefield. Griffith cut his horn and Zodd sided with him, I believe it is a possibility Gut's will defeat Zodd by cutting off this even bigger horn and Zodd will join Gut's for the final confrontation of both groups.
People don't seem to get that Zodd and Donovan are definitely related. It's been clearly foreshadowed by Miura since the opening- the real reason why the idea of evil chapter was taken back was because it just made it too obvious.
Zodd reminds me of some Warhammer 40K Chaos Primarchs who care not much for Chaos gods, rather power. But Zodd cares only for battle instead of anything else
I think the way skull knight and zodd met was when he probably went to his ever first eclipse seeing as how he has lived for over 300 and throught that time a godhand member would be made again (probably slan or conrad) .Skull knight probably went to crash another eclipse and then zodd saw and probably got interested when he saw cut through hordes of apostle or probably when skull knight was fighting other apostle not exactly in the eclipse tho
It’s very sad will never get to see that third and final battle between Guts and Zodd. However I’m pretty sure that Berserker Guts would tear Zodd to shreds
I seen ZODD, I clicked Edit: I feel that Guts has the body and ideals of a human, but the strength of an apostle. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be an Eren Yager type of scenario (although I feel it would be a bit underwhelming) where he represents humanity but he has to become the very monster he fight in order to protect the ones closest to him I also think it’s pretty poetic that the apostles try to portray themselves as human, and yet Guts, who is human, fights as if he’s an apostle and that BoD turns him into one damn near
Do you guys think (pure speculation) Zodd and Skull Knight shared a Guts-Griffith relationship back in their human days? I can imagine Zodd witnessing Skull Knight's strengthening as he succumbs to the Berserker armor, which leads him to make the Apostle deal in order to gain an equal amount of strength. The only thing I can't think of in this scenario is what Zodd would sacrifice. Presumably, he had no family, friends, or true allies, anyone who he would hold close to his heart. Maybe Zodd sought strength for the sole purpose of freedom, and he sacrificed that freedom by becoming a pawn (albeit one with a very, very long leash) for the Godhand? All of his battles in the 300 years since then would just be a vain attempt at regaining that sense of freedom, which I'm not sure is better or worse than the "slaughter seeking strength" thing he had going.
Kinda but clearly SK already has that relationship with void I think zodd is intended to rival guts because he probably had a relationship similar to guts and casca, he might’ve also had a child given that greater sacrifice leads to greater power (think the slug apostle who was unwilling to sacrifice his daughter) so I’m guessing zodd was a great warrior and his side was losing the war and ended up sacrificing his family. It would be really cool if zodd was fighting against SK and was responsible for freeing void, allowing void to come into contact with his behelit. Also in SKs current state he could literally erase zodd from existence so honestly I hope your right because that would mean zodd will be getting a power up in order to contend with the sword of actuation.
I wonder who came first: Zodd or Akuma from Street Fighter. They both not only have a very similiar facial structure, but they also challenge the protagonist time and time again in search for the ultimate battle.
Narrativly, it wouldn't make sense for guts to defeat zodd until the end of the story, we need at least one apostle guts can't defeat to let us know they're still a threat. If he can beat Zodd, he can beat any of them.
So has Zodd been alive for 300 years like he said to Guts when they first met or for a thousand years like he said to the Skull Knight about their rivalery ?
Maybe he was Skull Knight's rival 1000 years ago but died. God hand saw him worthy and brought him back alive 700 yrs later hence being alive for 300 years. Might also explain the loyalty toward Griffith as a god hand member
Should Guts and Zodd fight a final time, it would be Zodd's end. It would be a shame, but it would be glorious nonetheless. I think Zodd would dislike that scenario less than Guts would at this point.
personally, I think the Zodd is Guts's father theory is stupid. I always leaned towards the possibility of Zodd being the illegitimate son of Gaiseric, to coincide with Skull Knight being Gaiseric, making Zodd a betrayer of his father during the first Eclipse, following the sage into demonhood, and facing off endlessly against the father who wouldn't claim him, as said father is strong, and a most worthy opponent.
also, everyone seems to make this mistake. saying "Zodd has been around three hundred years" but Zodd never said that, Zodd said that it had been that long since a human had injured him so severely, and the conversations between he and Skull Knight leave subtle hints that he has been around almost as long as SK.
@@Jeremyhughes86 reread the nosferatu zodd chapters. One of the band's members mentioned the stories going back for around 300 years. And right after Zodd goes apostle he even mentions this himself. "Maybe that's why I've remained alive these three hundred years!!?" Zodd chapter 003 if you want a reference. I am pretty sure the translation is correct.
