@@mightdai7489 my profile pic. Remember this thing that showed up for 3 panels? Its the grand schemer pf the whole story above even the godhand and the idea of evil. Wouldnt be surprised if he were some cosmic horrific entity greater than cthulhu
Well before dying Miura did say that out of all the Godhand members, Void is the only we should focus on. Which made me think he is the main villain of the series along The Idea of Evil
Not only that but skullknight as well! Was he a former godhand member? Was he king geisrick? Was he a friend of geisrick. What is his connection to zodd!?
I feel a lot of people are overthinking the tentacle scenery, like it’s some big monster. I just think it’s as simple as it being another weird background whenever the Godhand is summoned.
Remember Miura said if we want to know the godhand's goal he'll give us a hint and the hint was Void. So whatever Void did we'll know Femto most likely will do something very similar. They also had similar events happen to them. Example: King Gaeseric had Void tortured in the tower of Conviction as a human. The king of Midland had Griffith tortured in the tower of Rebirth. And both were 5th editions to the Godhand.
I think your theory of Void being the first and OG member of the Godhand (and that he got the first Behelit) is further strengthened by how there were no Apostles in Skull Nights eclipse.
@@literaryminds3530 all of those creatures look exactly the same as one another. I think we’re being tricked into thinking this is an a Eclipse when it’s actually something else. Apostles look distinctly different from one another and never ever exactly the same as another.
At the same time my theory is that there’s only 4 actual godhand members and void is a permanent guide/enforcer of the idea of evils instructions as his encounter with it could’ve made him favoured by the idea of evil, which could be why it answered to his calls of desperation and sent its angels to save him
4:04 speaking of witch I,ve noticed that in every berserk arc we've introduced into a new kind of behelit Black swordsman arc - regular benefits Golden age - the crimson behelit Conviction arc - the egg of the perfect world The minimum falco - the man made behelit So is it possible that we will see a new kind of behelit with nearing the climax of fantasia to say reincarnate the other four godhand members into the physical world ?
@@mitodrudito5806 Chronologically, his first Apostle kill was the one right after he got the Dragonslayer. The tiddy demon was after he left Godot and his granddaughter.
I stumbled across Berserk by mistakes a few years back. It was a video showing the violence of the eclipse in the 1997 anime. Best mistake I've ever made!
I love the idea of the corpses at the bottom of the tower of rebirth having put the brand of sacrifice on to themselves so that they can ascend void their cult leader so that he can serve the idea of evil for all eternity. The first sacrifices ever made to the idea of evil were completely voluntary.
It's highly unlikely void was the first to make sacrifices, who knows how long this has been going on. On the panel of SK's memories it's likely Void was the newest Godhand at that point.
If the “Old Godhand” are indeed made of something other than human, or humans from a time when connections with nature and magic were stronger, explaining their otherworldly appearances, perhaps they possessed limitations the new Godhand don’t because they come from humans from a more cynical age, as it all depends on one’s feelings and own mentality and capabilities (especially if the lost chapter is to be taken into consideration) , perhaps this is why the Idea of Evil wanted mankind to distance themselves from all magic and arcane knowledge through the Holy See, to create stronger Godhand and apostles from people with less compassion and whose capacity for evil knows no bounds... I especially enjoyed your comparisons to the four seasons on the designs of the old Godhand and I believe you may be on to something here. Anyway cheers mate love your content.
This also makes sense due to human creativity and imagination. There's not much room for imagination when you can see just about anything beyond understanding and come to understand it. Humans have this ability to create truly anything from nothing when they don't understand. Religion came from not understand why things happen or what comes after death, and there truly are an endless amount of answers that we as a species have come up with that are all so wildly different. Humans of old would simply have the answers, leaving no room to wonder and create their own.
It actually fits rather well: spring (fertility godess), summer (lion thing that look like a sun flower), fall (vagina mouth) and winter (ice giant). That being said, I think only humans can be God Hands. Their weird form, as it was said, just represent more abstract natural concepts.
I know there are theories about griffith betraying the godhand. If that is true, then what if Void betrayed the original godhand and thats why theyre all gone. And even better Void would suspect griffith of betraying him
@@eragonbromsson1122 but if you actually think about it, it’s possible the most evilest thing one could ever do is sacrifice the god hand members themselves.
The idea that the former members of the God Hand were destroyed and that Void had to rebuild their ranks over time is one that I find exceptionally appealing.
Despite how appealing the idea is I personally find it hard to believe considering you couldn't touch neither void or griffith even with the sword of actuation
If the theory that the world use to be more in tune with its spirituality is true then its likely there were more weapons that could hurt the Godhand. @@clousdy5464
@@clousdy5464 well, Skull Knight went straight for Void in the eclipse and one can argue Void is probably the strongest of them, apart from Femto now. maybe the other ones weren't so good at keeping Skull Knight's sword away from their heads
Or I believe that void betrays and consumes each member once their contract is up to reimburse his life energy or he ultimately sacrifices them to the idea of evil who also reimburses his after lifespan sort of as commission for leading the godhand and continuing to fuel and maintain the idea of evil
This seems to be the birth of Void. We know of the tell of the Sage who cursed Gaiseric until an "angel" was sent down. Also there is the "fairytale of the Skull King" which says that 4 or 5 angels descended upon Gaiserics empire and erased everything in one night, leaving no trace of it's existence. Some might believe that it was the elementals that destroyed the kingdom, but given what was just revealed it very well could be that the 4 "angels" that descended upon the kingdom were the original Godhand and through the process of a ritual Void was born through the imprisoned Sage which then made it 5. I also find the brands on the foreheads of the corpses at the bottom of the tower to be a bit strange. When Guts and the Band of the Hawk were sacrificed, all of them had their brand marks on various parts of their body not just the forehead. Perhaps the corpses were apart of a different ceremony involving the Sage as a sort of cult. Perhaps it was this ceremony and other practices that led to the Sage's imprisonment. Maybe the Sage was trying to make contact with the Godhand through this branding ceremony and once he became Void he established the Brand of Sacrifice going forward. This may also explain why the flashback ritual seems different from the typical sacrifice we are accustomed to. There is no hint of a Behelit, Eclipse, or even a large hand. This seems like the literal beginning of the Godhand as a group of 5.
Literally nothing here suggests it’s the birth of void. You all look really stupid bc you’re ignoring every detail. All the evidence suggest skull knight sacrificed that girl to the gold hand, hence why he is below them and they are standing above him. And in return became the skull knight. He obviously regrets this and is why he wants them destroyed bc they manipulated him. There is actually no evidence at all that substantiates anything you said about void and him standing in the centre like that means nothing as it did with Griffith. Void is probably just the oldest god hand hence why he’s the only member there in this chapter like last time You’re all just plucking completely irrelevant shit form thin air and reaching at straws
@@zzodysseuszz First of all, calm down. Second, your assumptions are no more valid than mine, it's theory crafting. Nothing that I've mentioned is pulled out of thin air, it's in the story. The legend goes that a sage was imprisoned in the Tower of Conviction and was visited by "angels" who then destroyed the Skull King's capital. It's heavy implied that the sage is Void. Why would Ganseic sacrifice her when he hates the God hand? The entire ceremony is much more different than any we've seen before.
I think everyone is overthinking this, maybe the simplest explanation could be the right one It's an eclipse, this are previous God Hands, probably there is a Guts/Griffith friendship backstory between Sk/Void, some betrayal. I just hope in the next chapter Sk starts explaining what we just saw and we get a proper backstory
@@theblackswordsman7558 I mean look at them they seem to important to not be godhand. What reason would there be for those 4 "Apostles" to stand right next to a newly ascended godhand. It makes more sense for them to be gpdhand that were eventually replaced as things are cyclical in Berserk.
Ryan, I'm convinced that Miura hates your theory videos because they accurately predict his future plans for the story, and that you are the reason he likes going on long hiatuses. Edit: Rest in peace, Miura-sensei. Your work changed the lives of millions, including me. I wish you the best in the afterlife.
Miura: I’ve finally finished the next five chapters! Back to releasing at a steady pace Ryan: *predicts everything Miura is about to release Miura: *balls up paper, goes into his room and shuts the door
With this last chapter, here is just one thing I can't quite wrap my head around: the Zodd paradox From what we know, Zodd has been an apostle for arround 300 years (more or less). He recognised the berserker armor when Guts used it for the first time and knew SK used it. So we can understand that Zodd saw SK wearing it But the blood memory implied SK died facing the old godhands nearly 900 years ago Or Zodd is much, much older than we thought, or the scene with the old godhands wasn't exactly when SK died (somehow)
I don't think Zodd was saying he was 300 years old, just that it had been 300 years since he had encountered someone like Guts. He could have been out Zodding for much longer than that
@@billygranzow1331 To be fair, you're probably right. I was convinced that Zodd has been an apostle for "only" 300 years. But yeah, nothing really stated that. Good call
@@Ziggfi Considering how he is the “eternal rival,” Of Skully boi, there are a few likely reasons. 1. He has heard about the stories of King G. and has seen his current armor. He probably put two and two together, when he saw the armor. 2. He may be that old and has seen the armor.
That leftmost member of the Godhand (the one you said looks like a frost giant) looks a lot like Ganishka! I'm not saying they are the same, only that they suspiciously look like each other!
the more I look at this pannel the harder I find it to believe it's an ascension ceremony. During femtos Ascension Conrad describes the hand as the altar, an altar for femtos baptism? idk
Maybe the god hands was standing in one finger at these lovecraftian themed eclipse instead of standing on each fingers just like in bloody face themed eclipse?
I think it could be that the Godhand of Void's time served a different purpose? They may have even went by a different name, given how there wasn't a Hand involved.
The zoomed out version of the scene, before we see the God hand as a full seems like they standing on a altar, a simple altar in a big room. Look hiw the Tentacle mimicking big pillars in a gigantic room. This picture is so well made its looks like a room and then when you zoom out it's just a gigantic chaos
I hear what you’re saying. But it isn’t the same set of circumstances, perhaps the Vortex was more exposed and there was no hand because Void eventually replaces these 5 creatures with the current Godhand members, but only after they serve their purpose in destroying Gaeseric’s kingdom. Void being front and centre with Gaeseric’s love branded makes one thing clear, Void created the branding ritual (which he carried all the way to Femto’s incarnation ritual) and was likely responsible for the mass sacrifice at the ToC, either directly or indirectly (by way of a cult following)... Femto’s ritual also involved Apostles devouring the sacrifices, where as both the ToC and this flashback didn’t, so it’s likely the victims had their life force sucked out of their bodies and fed to the Vortex. The hair-covered Dr Seuss-like creatures emerging from between the tentacles also don’t appear to be apostles, they look too similar and primitive tbh. I think this was supposed to symbolise the same event occurring in more primitive times, where the physical and astral realms were also at a crossroads.
Im re reading the manga and reached a point where they are discussing skull knights myths. They said that it was "about a thousand years ago" not exactly a thousand years. They also mention 5 angels were sent by god to destroy his city in the span of a night. That must have been the Godhand. Then one of them says "werent there four of them" "oh yeah?"
I feel as though the 362 gives me more of an explanation with Skull Knight attacked Void first during Femto's eclipse and not the other Godhand members. I think Void is the primary one who creates the rest and Skull Knight killed the previous members realizing eventually that Void is the creator and killing him will end the cycle. I still like the idea that the show will end with Guts and Casca having a peaceful life, Griffith will realise that being a king doesn't bring him that happiness he always craved and he will eventually die seeing Guts smiling happy with Casca.. Both Guts and Casca completely forgetting Griffith even exists making his entire life and sacrifices pointless.
Personally think this ceremony was the creation of the god hand. Void being the sage and the other 4 being followers of his. The other 4 being killed maybe in in this ceremony by Flora with the elemental kings. Flora being there might be how SK's spirit survived as well
What if skull night was actually a representation of “a past Griffith” whom broke free from the god hand and Zodd was actually a representation of guts? And everything happening is skull night trying to change the same fate happening to Griffith and guts?
Considering Berserk is based off Devilman, I think the idea of cycles is definitely what's going on here. However, I think the previous cycle's knight was Skull Knight who is now training Guts to be the new marcher against the endless night. I think Skull Knight is going to kill Void and Femto will take his place as their leader. Eventually we will get to a point where Guts or (The Dragonslayer Knight) will kill Griffith, but I think an X-factor will put an end to the godhand once and for all and that X factor will be the moon child.
I'm ok with all the 5 members ascending at the same time I mean, Griffith sacrificed an army to become Femto. However, it seems Void sacrificed a whole kingdom.
I still think that void is the first god hand member ever and those other beings were just really powerful apostles. I also think that SK killed the other 4 apostles while in the Berserker armor after he surrendered completely to it. But obviously void being on a completely different level than the most powerful apostles, SK died while trying to kill void.
Why would he be the first ever godhand? I got the feeling he was the newest Godhand member out of the ancient flashback bunch. Stood at the front for SK/Gaiseric like Griffith was for guts.
@@Michael-hc2vs the God hand look distinctly different than any apostles we've seen. All the official god hand members we've seen have a Hellraiser Cenobite aesthetic. Those other beings standing next to him just look like powerful apostles.
@Le Monke not only pride concerning Guts, it was the loss of someone he thought he legitimately possessed and towards whom he grew feelings he didn't feel for anyone else
Love the channel, I truly do believe void predates the godhand and used his great intellect and persuasive skills to bring on new members which is why he is in the Forefront. With a brain that big how could you not be persuaded
What I like about berserk is how both guys and griffith envy each other in the golden age ark Griffith likes guts for his simplistic outlook on life and how he easily can push down his emotions where as guts envy’s Griffith for how easily he makes friends and allies
Doesn’t it make more sense, to go along with one of the theories of why they look like that, that when mans beliefs changed the god hands members that resembled those beliefs basically died with the belief? It’s a less interesting answer, but makes much more sense.
Thank you for addressing the time error (864 years instead of 1080). The only fix I see to this is is there being a 432 year gap between Void and Ubik, where 216 after Void’s incarnation he sacrifices the previous 4 Godhand members (or Skull Knight somehow offed them).
Yea I remember on the Tropes and Scopes website seeing the "authors can't do math" or something like that one. It's hard to keep track of all these things, and sometimes they just screw up. It is a possibility it could mean something, though and not be a mistake, so we'll just have to wait and see.
I knew about the multi-breasted Diana, but my first thought was Lovecraft's Shub-Niggurath, the Black Goat (female) of the Woods with a Thousand Young. Also, as you referenced the panels, Escher's world of stairs in the appearance of the GodHand. The part about Ubik (from Philip K. Dick) - that's a drawing of a detail from Bosch's painting The Garden of Earthly Delights, 1516AD - right panel reversed. The face in the center is Hieronymous Bosch's self portrait. Also, fwiw, Michael Moorcock (circa 60s - 70s sword and sorcery). Griffith looks like Elric, Guts - same injuries as Corum Jhaelen Irsai, w/artificial hand; and Skull Knight is near as dammit The Warrior in Jet and Gold from the Hawkmoon series - same enigmatic won't-tell-you-the answers kind of guy (also in Hawkmoon, Baron Meliadus is modeled after Lemmy Killmister.) Lots of Moorcock parallels in Berserk. If I were ever to get a chance to talk with Miura, I would ask him about any possible homages. " Good artists borrow, great artists steal.” Miura is a great artist
I started to read berserk last week I'm on chapter 10 and holy fuck I knew that this manga was dark but Jesus Christ the King, the count I can already tell this Manga is gonna be great
I think each new God Hand member is stronger than previous one they replaced maybe that’s why they don’t consider Skull Knight to be big of threat. I believe only void knows how truly dangerous Skull Knight actually is since he is the only one of the previous God Hand unit to survive the onslaught of King Gaiseric which he unleashed in his Berserker Armor during void’s ascension. The new members of God Hand might be arrogant and underestimate the power of Skull Knight. Which they regret when Guts will fulfill King Gaiseric/SK’s Prophecy.
The first one was my theory, but I will add that I believe void, being the newest member of the god hand was tasked with rallying humanity together to a single point just like femto is now, but I think void, instead of leading humanity himself, manipulated King Gaisdrick to do it for him and that is why the resentment of SK for void comes from. Once humanity came to a single point, the ceremony of ultimate sacrifice took place and every single human being served as a sacrifice for the ultimate goal of “ascending” the oldest 4 god hand members leaving void to start the cycle himself.
The "frost giant" is probably Ganishka, I think the other members ascended to the real world and the skull knight killed them one by one, but skull knight couldn't stop void, don't forget that zodd is no longer bound to the God hand either and has known skull knight for about 1000 years. That plays a pretty big role for what Kentaro Miura's plan.
All 5 Godhand were created at once, and Void or King Gaiseric killed the other 4, but the legend the princess told the Hawks was that 4 angels came... So...
Great video m8, I've seen a bunch of these theories on the berk fb groups and they are all fun to read and speculate on. Can't wait for the next chapter, although I doubt we will get more exposition on calcium-chan's backstory but I'm ok with that
My Theory is that with every 5th eclipse Void and Griffith/Femto there will be a survivor of that eclipse as seen with Skull knight, Guts, and Casca and with skull knight hunting down and killing each of the 4 previous god hand one by one in until the only Void remained and during this time the crimson behelit slowly made it's way back into the world finding it's way to the next god hand but eventually though Guts will kill one of the god hand at some point in until only Femto and the crimson behelit slowly making it's way back into the world in some form of a twisted endless cycle So Guts might be doomed to become the next skull knight
My personal theory is that the old god hand were made from the previous dominant races of the world, and as humanity ascended, they faded away, or were replaced.
saw this comment on the wiki and I thought I would just repost it here "A lot of people seem to assume that the four beings standing next to Void in the Berserker armor flashback are former God Hand, but I'm not so sure. They could just as easily be separate beings who already existed in the Astral world, maybe even gods in their own right, having been created by humanities collective consciousness. Legend says that four angels descended and destroyed Gaiseric's kingdom, and these four entities could very well be these four angels. Also, Griffith's Eclipse is often called "The Fifth Eclipse", so that automatically makes Void the first human to have undergone the process of becoming a God Hand. In fact, I think Void was a magic user in life, and he discovered the magic of creating the brand of sacrifice himself. So all of the Apostles and the rest of the God Hand come only after Void ascends, since he created the process of creating them." -anonymous
I definitely enjoy your cult idea, I'd like to believe that Griffith's new Band of the Falcon plays a similar role to Void's cult. Perhaps Zodd, Locus, Grunbeld and Rakshas would play the roles of Void's four companions, with Griffith being the new Void. Flora stated that causality is a spiral and events don't happen exactly as they did in the past, but similarly. In my eyes, Griffith's kingdom is Void's cult and possibly he's gained knowledge of what he must do to create his 'new God Hand' as he displays heavy themes of rebirth and the cycle of change. The 'eclipse' of Void and the former God Hand is full of tentacles, with no apostles to be seen and instead of the sun being eclipsed, it's more like a large spiral of tentacles create a mock eclipse, instead of this being your usual god hand initiation, this could possibly be the initiation of an all new God Hand excluding the latest member of the previous God Hand surviving until eventually, another new God Hand will be formed, continuing this cycle eternally unless miraculously all of the God Hand are killed leaving nobody to restore the cycle.
Crazy thought but what if Void was always a God Hand? I notice he really seems to be the head of the group with the one who spoke the most during the eclipse and placed the brand on the sacrifices. Also, whenever it depicts the God Hand standing on their hand pedestal thing, Void is always on the thumb which is the most important part of the hand if it is to function properly. I bet if this God Hand batch were to be shown on the hand pedestal, Void would still be on the thumb. Just a thought I wanted to put out there.
When they talked about the fall of king Gaiseric's kingdom, they mentioned 4 angels. Another person mentions that there were 5. Going by the faco that Skull Knight knows Void, it could be argued that Void brought about the end of Gaiseric's kingdom and became the 5th apostle/angel in the story
I agree with your theory about Void, I think you've hit the nail on the head. After all, in an interview Miura was asked what is the goal of the Godhand and responded by saying "the key word is _Void_ ".
The current God Hand definitely have parallels to the 4 Houseman of the Apocalypse and the 7 Deadly Sins in Christinaity. I remember there being scenes of them briefly showing up in the material world in areas that had disease or extreme lust, and only the one that corresponded to that theme.
The first Godhand used to be the 4 Elemental Kings until they invited Void. Then they were wiped out by him only for Void to rebuild them under the philosophy of the Idea of Evil.
NO ONE HAS TOUCHED ON THIS IDEA FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IN COMMENTS!!! Sorry for lengthy stuff, but bear with me: What do Femto(Griffith) and Void have in common? They are appear untouchable. Guts Tried back in Black Swordsman Arc, but was repelled away from Griffith like nothing. Couldn't even touch him. Skull Knight in golden age arc attacked Void when saving Guts and Casca from the eclipse. Like Femto, Skull Knight couldn't touch Void. Now, We All know Guts hates all Apostles and God Hand members, but he never attacked any of them except Griffith when seeing them on 2 different occasions due to Guts' personal beef with Griffith, which was Black Swordsman Arc, and Golden Age. However, Guts only fought Slan because she was right there, and had no other options since running isn't his style, nor option. He landed not one, but two blows on her. One from the cannon arm, then the Dragon Slayer that has that estrange omen Skull Knight explained. Yeah she fucked him up, but its our boy Guts, he'll bounce back. Now, what does that say for the God Hand that are not Void and Femto? They are probably no stronger than Slan, and can indeed be hurt by something like Guts' sword, and maybe even skull knights if he's use the same sword for ages, and follows the same theoretical rule the Dragon Slayer does. So this means we are reaching TWO biggest questions the team continuing the serious will have to do their best to answer in place of the genius story teller. 1: We know who Skull Knight is, but What Is He, is the question we need answered. His wife didn't have a brand on her skull, but her shoulder. The eclipse we saw had people bearing the brand on their foreheads. Is there the slightest chance, he himself is an Apostle, like what Slan tried hinting at Guts to become during their encounter in Quilthoth? What if, when the Berserker armor consumed, and drove him to such rage, he chose to make a sacrifice, and out of such blind range, only realized what he sacrificed at a second too late. Unable to save his wife, thus seeing him holding her in his arms as himself one last time? Abandoned of Humanity, a "Remanence of a grudge." "Rattling around in his coffin" Pretending to be someone who can feel emotion, but truly acts on old morals and respects he has for someone like Flora. Just saying, if Guts made a sacrifice to become an Apostle, who do you think that sacrifice would be. Not Casca, because she's Griffith's, but the party? What if Gaiseric had a bailet, just like how guts has one, even though it belonged to someone else. Small differences that can alter the potential outcome. One who said Yes to becoming an Apostle, and the one who said No. 2: Will Skull Knight Finally stop with the bullshitting and just start explaining things, like did chapter 369 have to happen you skeleton face bastard. And that's where this ends. This second one is more for fun.
That's exactly as I thought, former god hands being more like entities representing nature forces at stake before Void/Idea of evil introduced the age of men, now we have Falconia rebuilt and humans cooperating with Astral world beasts so what's it gonna be?? I'm betting on Femto/Griffith willing to control his destiny furthermore therefore revolting against his kind
Great video! I've always thought that the story is one of an infinite number of rebooted timelines. So when Guts says he saw the end, maybe he assumes his fate will be the same as the Skull Knight and Casca will die. This would possibly be the last straw for Guts and he would abandon his humanity like Skull Knight did, dawning the soul-cage armor and helping the struggler in the next timeline.
@RealLifeRyan Nice video man!! In the next chapters I think we’ll see Ranar doing a improvement and upgrade on the Dragonslayer sword or Berserker Armor. What you think Ryan????
Hello. I wanted to comment a fact i havent seen anywhere in theories about Void or comments, and i think it's interesting. It's about the number 216 and the term 'void'. I searched in Wolfram Alpha the number and it appears to represent in Unicode a character that in Math it is used frequently to represent an 'empty set', arguably kinda similar to the term 'void'. I think this is why the number 216 is used and no other any random number, but maybe Miura could tell us in the future an actual reason within the story and the person who was Void previously. What do you think, people?
I don't think Void's eclipse was the first one, but it was bigger than Fento's. I think it has to do with the size of the sacrifice that's offered. Since a sacrifice has to be something close to one's heart, i imagine Void sacrificed his entire kingdom, which explains why SK, a king who's likely responsible for his torture, is present there as a sacrifice. As for the nature of teh God-hand member's cycle, what if when one God-hand member is 'cycled' it's essence becomes the crimson behelit?
good video, I feel like many people focus too much on the "materialistic" side of the current situation, while ignoring symbolic meaning of the Godhand. Imo Godhand is basically representation of zeitgeist, spirit of the age, with all its ethical concepts, aesthetic and archetypes. Old Godhand embodies chaotic ancient world and mythological outlook on the world. We have this motherly goddess of fertility, this bearded dude resembling pagan patriarchal deities and vagina-faced (in primitive societies feminine body parts are often worshipped) nightmare. It seems to me Void basically started a new age, creating the new monotheistic religion, new spirituality and new socio-political reality. How in particular every old Godhand member came to an end is unimportant really, since in this case the materialistic seem to be just a reflection of causality's inner working
Given we know imagination plays a part in the astral world and the main idea of evil doing all this. The idea the sub conscious of those involved in magic ceremonies makes perfect sense. It only makes sense Ryan's right the forms everyone takes is based on their inner darkness . Same exact way it works for Guts berserk form.
For me it seems Griffith is going through same path as King Gaiseric. (Griffith-Falconia, King Gaiseric-empire). King Gaiseric could not have accomplished such feat without such power, same goes Griffith. Maybe Guts may cycle through same path (Void), becoming Godhand and end Griffith's empire. Anyway, appreciate your vids and the last one you had with collab. ✌️
This is what I was thinking, but I may be way off:
If Gaiseric is Skull Knight, then this would mean that the timeline could go something like this: Gaiseric (Skull Knight) = 1080 years past Void (known to be the oldest of the current Godhand) = 864 years past Slan (assuming order given in chapter 86, Birth) = 648 years past Ubik (assuming order given in chapter 86, Birth) = 432 years past Conrad (assuming order given in chapter 86, Birth) = 216 years past Femto (known to be the newest of the current Godhand) = present About every thousand years, one of the Godhand is reborn, just as Griffith is reborn. The Skull Knight’s story, it seems, is that of a king showing up with an army already, his history seemingly beginning there (possibly having been a Godhand for around 80 years who could enter the physical plane because of the Berserker Armor, hence the comment about Skull Knight seeming something akin to an elf), taking over Midland, being attacked (by four or five angels) and then, sacrificing everything to be reborn. We also know that time is like a spiral (“According to Flora, causality is a spiral, not a circle; although some events may appear to be recurrences of others past, they are not subject to happen exactly as before” -Volume 26, Claw Marks) If his dream, that he was reborn for, was to defeat the Godhand, then, perhaps, he killed all of the four other Godhand that existed at that time, leading to Void being the first of the new.
Then there's this theory I saw on Reddit:
"I think that you are probably right. It seems likely to me, though I've only read the first three volumes of the manga (so, take what I say with a grain of something that enhances the flavor of food), that SK is meant to parallel both Guts and Griffith. It seems to me like Skull Knight is what they would have become were they one person (which goes some distance toward showing why they seem like such a perfect pair and their almost magical attraction to each other (whether that includes sexual attraction or not), and that, in a way, they compliment but, more importantly, contrast each other. Guts, I think, was a bit of a moderating influence on Griffith (often bringing out the best in him, though not always) and, if they had been able to stay together, things might have turned out much better (depending on whether you believe that man truly has no control over his will and fate or that is just the deliverance of unreliable characters and narrators). The second piece to the puzzle, to me, is that Miura has said in interviews that he didn't think that he could have a bad ending for Berserk. This means that either Griffith has to die, be reformed and redeemed, or both (unless there is some good, or at least better, ending that I am not thinking of, which is likely). Third, time and fate seem to be like a spiral, as mentioned several times in the lore, with things happening slightly differently. This means that we should see a character, or two (wink wink), take actions similar to Skull Knight. Both together did pretty well against Zodd, at least in the anime (since I haven't read that part of the manga yet). This leads me to my conclusion. It seems likely that the ending includes either Griffith dying or being redeemed, or both, which might include him either being the Void to Guts' Skull Knight, him becoming like the Skull Knight himself, or him and Guts together fulfilling that role and going against the God Hand. One further musing. If Casca was Griffith's sword, what would Guts have been to Griffith? His armor, perhaps? Perhaps, as the Skull Knight wore the berserker armor, Griffith will, symbolically, wear the Guts armor to defeat the God Hand. First, though, something would have to be done about Femto, probably at least. Wouldn't that be the highest Griffith could reach after subduing the world, to defeat the God Hand? Edit: I wonder if the ostensible separation of the Skull Knight's fate into two, that of Guts and Griffith, could be the key needed to not only kill 4 or 5 God Hand but, also, thwart whatever is beyond them (IoE, if still canon)? I remember some line in the '97 anime, one of the episode end narrations (I think), asking if it is possible that man could escape his fate, or escape the cycle, or something along those lines. Could Guts or Griffith, or both, break the cycle/fate due to their combined abilities, traits, and potential efforts?"
I think that Skull Knight was the person to murder them, the incarnation symbol seen is simply just a flashback, or rather the last thing he saw before he went into a blind rage. In this blind rage he slays the 4, dying in the armor and Void gets away. Idk, I just think it would be so badass

Maybe some of these God Hand members are still the same, they just took a different form.
I know there are theories about griffith betraying the godhand. If that is true, then what if Void betrayed the original godhand and thats why theyre all gone. And even better Void would suspect griffith of betraying him

That scene is straight up a manga trascription of a Hieronymous Bosch painting. Love the detail.
@Jonathan Crane I think he's at the table of the cracked butt on the crazy man thing
That's just one of the many things I love about Berserk. It could be any one of these theories or any combination. It's so much fun to speculate.
Void is probably just the oldest god hand hence why he’s the only member there in this chapter like last time
You’re all just plucking completely irrelevant shit form thin air and reaching at straws
I think everyone is overthinking this, maybe the simplest explanation could be the right one
It's an eclipse, this are previous God Hands, probably there is a Guts/Griffith friendship backstory between Sk/Void, some betrayal.

With this last chapter, here is just one thing I can't quite wrap my head around: the Zodd paradox
From what we know, Zodd has been an apostle for arround 300 years (more or less). He recognised the berserker armor when Guts used it for the first time and knew SK used it. So we can understand that Zodd saw SK wearing it
But the blood memory implied SK died facing the old godhands nearly 900 years ago
Or Zodd is much, much older than we thought, or the scene with the old godhands wasn't exactly when SK died (somehow)
Good call

the more I look at this pannel the harder I find it to believe it's an ascension ceremony. During femtos Ascension Conrad describes the hand as the altar, an altar for femtos baptism? idk
Maybe the god hands was standing in one finger at these lovecraftian themed eclipse instead of standing on each fingers just like in bloody face themed eclipse?
Maybe it doesn't look the same each time.

I like that you bring up the detail of the brands all being on the skulls' forehead.
I knew about the multi-breasted Diana, but my first thought was Lovecraft's Shub-Niggurath, the Black Goat (female) of the Woods with a Thousand Young.

I love everything about your theory. Void being a mage and the founder of the Godhand
What if...void gathers the hand to sacrifice them.. so that he can ascend to a higher plane?
This guy low key makes great content
The first one was my theory, but I will add that I believe void, being the newest member of the god hand was tasked with rallying humanity together to a single point just like femto is now, but I think void, instead of leading humanity himself, manipulated King Gaisdrick to do it for him and that is why the resentment of SK for void comes from. Once humanity came to a single point, the ceremony of ultimate sacrifice took place and every single human being served as a sacrifice for the ultimate goal of “ascending” the oldest 4 god hand members leaving void to start the cycle himself.
Watched it again after 1 or 2 years and it`s still so nice to think about these things. This video had a lot of great ideas

My Theory is that with every 5th eclipse Void and Griffith/Femto there will be a survivor of that eclipse as seen with Skull knight, Guts, and Casca and with skull knight hunting down and killing each of the 4 previous god hand one by one in until the only Void remained and during this time the crimson behelit slowly made it's way back into the world finding it's way to the next god hand but eventually though Guts will kill one of the god hand at some point in until only Femto and the crimson behelit slowly making it's way back into the world in some form of a twisted endless cycle
So Guts might be doomed to become the next skull knight

My personal theory is that the old god hand were made from the previous dominant races of the world, and as humanity ascended, they faded away, or were replaced.
saw this comment on the wiki and I thought I would just repost it here
"A lot of people seem to assume that the four beings standing next to Void in the Berserker armor flashback are former God Hand, but I'm not so sure.
I think the “og” godhand is more like empty shells of what the future godhand will be. They look lifeless, like just empty shells.
Imagine if miura actually had a sensible schedule
7:19 it was so cool seeing this nod to hieronymus bosch, made me really happy when i saw it. I always wondered if Miura was inspired by his works.
All we need to know is that Skull Knight is a fucking legend
I agree with your theory about Void, I think you've hit the nail on the head. After all, in an interview Miura was asked what is the goal of the Godhand and responded by saying "the key word is _Void_ ".
I feel this theory is closer to the 4 horsemen as far as the god hand we know, despite there being 5
The current God Hand definitely have parallels to the 4 Houseman of the Apocalypse and the 7 Deadly Sins in Christinaity. I remember there being scenes of them briefly showing up in the material world in areas that had disease or extreme lust, and only the one that corresponded to that theme.
Man, I love your intros. 0:48 🙂🙃🙂
The first Godhand used to be the 4 Elemental Kings until they invited Void. Then they were wiped out by him only for Void to rebuild them under the philosophy of the Idea of Evil.
Maybe
NO ONE HAS TOUCHED ON THIS IDEA FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IN COMMENTS!!!
Sorry for lengthy stuff, but bear with me:
What do Femto(Griffith) and Void have in common?
Love how fast this channel is popping
When he said sacrife us it means we are what he values most GOAT
Great video! I've always thought that the story is one of an infinite number of rebooted timelines. So when Guts says he saw the end, maybe he assumes his fate will be the same as the Skull Knight and Casca will die. This would possibly be the last straw for Guts and he would abandon his humanity like Skull Knight did, dawning the soul-cage armor and helping the struggler in the next timeline.
I try to aVoid any theories before we know more.
Brilliant analysis man!
There were only 4 God hand when griffith became Femto... So I think it's entirely possible someone refused a sacrifice
@RealLifeRyan Nice video man!!
In the next chapters I think we’ll see Ranar doing a improvement and upgrade on the Dragonslayer sword or Berserker Armor. What you think Ryan????
Very nice representation of the facts and observations Ryan! Good video! Mitchell Like!
Could also be Void acting to take power within the godhand. That and Skull Knight's murder spree could've thinned them.
Void is known as the "Archangel".
What if the others depicted in the latest chapter are other Archangels that oversee their own respective hands?
What if Void is actually "Abaddon the Angel of Abyss from the Bible" all along.
Love your channel man, great vid!
I’ve always assumed when they said 1000 years they were rounding up.
If Gaiseric is Skull Knight, then this would mean that the timeline could go something like this:
Gaiseric (Skull Knight) = 1080 years past
Void (known to be the oldest of the current Godhand) = 864 years past
Slan (assuming order given in chapter 86, Birth) = 648 years past
Ubik (assuming order given in chapter 86, Birth) = 432 years past
Conrad (assuming order given in chapter 86, Birth) = 216 years past
Femto (known to be the newest of the current Godhand) = present
About every thousand years, one of the Godhand is reborn, just as Griffith is reborn.
What are your thoughts on these?
"The more subscribers I get, the more I can sacrifice for greater power": I need these to brighten up my days.
I think that Skull Knight was the person to murder them, the incarnation symbol seen is simply just a flashback, or rather the last thing he saw before he went into a blind rage. In this blind rage he slays the 4, dying in the armor and Void gets away.
Idk, I just think it would be so badass
I doubt it that would be too easy and if the berserker armour grants such power why didn’t skull knight give to guys ahead of time
@@davidajayi6516 maybe because t
It was skull Knight's own strength and not The armor itself that allowed the massacre
I don't think physical strength is enough to beat them, after all they are reality bender
@@sirius6738 True, Idk the idea of Skull Knight slaughtering them all sounds badass. Plus it would make sense with him knowing Void
