1/19/23 RIP David Crosby. This will always be the song I will remember him for. Beautiful song, beautiful singing and playing, and with that hint of Gregorian....Beautiful.
Before he passed, I had the pleasure of providing limousine service for him. He was great to be with. His lady, by the way had a heart big enough for everyone. Great memory. He, of course, was at Woodstock and so was !
I have loved this song dearly, since first it wove its mysterious web through my imagination, back in the sixties. It still haunts my memories, as no other song can do. David Crosby has been where few dare to travel, God bless him for this gift of music to the world.
Great comment...I couldn't agree more....just a haunting song that creates an atmosphere like no other; and this live version is a masterful experience on its own....spell-binding....the unique blend of these two voices...my goodness....
One of my favorite songs makes me think of two favorite women in my life my mom, who born me, and my wife Renee who I have loved for 40 yrs and still do.
This song is hauntingly beautiful and my favorite of theirs. It’s hard to wrap my mind around the fact there are only 2 of them. RIP David, you will be missed.
This is a perfect honest raw performance of this masterpiece. I've listened to this video 50 times in the last year but again tonight after hearing of his death and appreciating David Crosby's subtle perfect voice blending with Graham Nash. Stunningly beautiful.=
Agree 100%. There are tutorials on youtube for this song - got 1 of my guitars in this tuning and have become obsessed with learning it.... It is taking a looooooooooong time to learn lol.
melting harmonies, fluid guitar notes, together make the musical dream come true for us the listeners.. These guys have been doing this since i was a kid.. and they refuse to get old.. Long Live Rock and Roll.. and God Bless these guys.. together or apart each of them are masters of their art.. MUSIC
With all the knowledge, all the leaps and bounds, the human race has made and found in the last fifty years it is music like this that I am most thankful to have been born in this time and age. I am fortunate.
I 'rediscovered' Crosby and Nash just a month ago, and I've been living in a dreamy timewarp since then. I keep trying to listen to other things, but I get drawn back again and again to those wonderful harmonies. Guinnevere is the quintessential Crosby/Nash track, to me. Spine-trembling harmonies!
This is music in its finest form. You can't help but watch and listen and just feel it flow through you and touch something deep inside. If one manages to create just one song like this in a lifetime, then it hasn't been in vain.
Only a handful of musicians at any given time experience the thrill of writing and performing music that transcends music and stretches the boundaries of the possible. These are two of those musicians, and David Crosby seems to do it so effortlessly.
David Crosy and Graham Nash YOU MUST RECONCILE with each other. LIFE IS TOO DAMNED SHORT and your MAGIC IS UNDENIABLE! You are both a gift from the Universe. Don't let petty differences keep you apart! PLEASE don't waste anymore time! WE LOVE YOU and we NEED YOU TO LOVE EACH OTHER and maybe produce some more of your special magic and gift us again!
This particular performance of Guinnevere is outstanding! I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when those two would get together and sit around and jam. Thanks for sharing this video.
Saw them on this 1991 tour in Wilkes-Barre PA....beautiful intimate venue the Kirby Center...they were REALLY clicking together at that time, and knew it. All you heard walking out was variations of people saying "God I didn't think just the two of them could be THAT good.."
I was at a David Crosby concert in San Antonio in 1982, just after he was arrested for having a pistol and drugs in Dallas. He started playing Guinevere and stopped. He said that he couldn't remember the words. He was in bad shape. Years later, he said that the arrest and the subsequent court-ordered rehab saved his life.
So true, I get it, I'm glad they can't remember how they did it the last time. Every performance is a little different and I love it. I love this song, especially the melody. I listen to the different versions often. Since I love to garden, that also resonates with me. And in these times, there is often someone watching. My favorite verses are: "She shall be free." and "We both shall be free.".
@@mariateresagaboardi1418 wow !! Grande ! 19 luglio 2002 (idroscalo) ho avuto l'immensa fortuna di incontrarlo nel dopo concerto.. foto con lui e autografo 😍.. uno dei momenti più belli della mia vita.. Ciaoooo da Verona
This rendition gives me the same feeling as when I'm reading Orlando by Virginia Woolf. The magic and fantasy of both sends me into a mindset I can't quite explain.
I saw them in 1980 something...I know that Michael hedges was the opening act at the Mann music center in Philadelphia. They're awesome. Hitchhike there way too young to have gone. 15-16 maybe?
Too bad the voices are not synced up with the video. But still, this is a great video and the harmony can't be touched. Thank you for sharing this video. Crosby and Nash are so incredible with their harmonies. Add Stills and you have yet another ear turning experience. Great music!!!

Before he passed, I had the pleasure of providing limousine service for him. He was great to be with. His lady, by the way had a heart big enough for everyone. Great memory. He, of course, was at Woodstock and so was !

Perfection.Graham adding harmonica is such a nice addition to an already classic song...Harmony that most will never achieve...

If there was a song more beautiful the past 50 years I must have missed it !!!###
This song is a masterpiece.

So beautiful mémories... I was sixteen... We are their young brothers. So long, and thank you.
WOW! I first heard this back in 1970, and it's still a beautiful song. It takes me back to some great memories. Awesome harmony too.
A fitting performance that they both were quite proud of, and we as fans can be fond of with Davids passing. Rest in Peace.
This performance is stunning, just stunning. Goosebumps from head to toe.
May David Crosby Rest In Peace......An immensely talented man !
This is my very favorite from the CSN&Y years. Achingly beautiful. Two voices, one guitar... it doesn't get any better.

makes me cry, it's so beautiful.
Crosby makes his 6 string sound like a 12 string! And effortlessly!
And the 2 of them make their harmony sound like CSN&Y.
Just wow!
One reason is Crosby's genius alternate tuning. Masterful....
The tuning dbagad..sounds full...like 3 guitars

Anyone have an idea what harp key Nash used.
RIP David, beautiful performance of a truly haunting song
When the harmonica kicks in the hair stands up on my arms every time. One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
It doesn't get better than that folks !!!!!
Such beauty, the way they are tuned in to the same flow...the amazing complete sounding guitar, the dreamy chords...and their voices....
Only half way through this performance and I just want it to keep playing all day.
Amazing.
There are no words. I'm speechless
if I heard this w/out seeing it I would NEVER believe it was just 2 people. so full. so deep. hugs & kisses-jj
Amazing sound for two guys...
the pace of this is incredible, as though time itself stands idly by waiting -as though in reverence- for them to finish.

Watch the BBC version of this.....so good. My old man showed me that performance while I was a high school metalhead and I became obsessed with it.
Time for some nice chill out sounds on a Friday.
I saw them do this at a wonderful show at Shippensburg University, in Pennsylvania a number of years ago. So brilliant
Man, these dudes have see some stuff and fought some battles.

I love those chords. Haunting...
Their voices were so perfect together, I am deeply saddened by the passing of David.
How does this have only 533 upvotes in 11 years??? OMG
So haunting - with an epic ending - barefoot Graham and the harmonica made it complete. Rest in perfect peace with Christine, David.
The best version of a very unique tune by two who are performing it for the right reasons. So sad to say good-bye!
