I was literally like you almost 12 years ago. I was still a young guy in my 20s. With a lot of time to waste. Now i'm close to 40 and freaking convinced that maybe my kids will have a chance to play it. I have pledged to the project a lot of money which i count as the worst investment in my life. So yeah...looks really sick. Nope. You see new features as a good thing. I, who knows why this game will never be finished, see it as a root cause of the issue.
@robertschaffer596 I understand how it may feel. But in my perspective, I will still hold hope. I will say on your part, pledging to a project that seemed lucrative or too far fetched. Sure, I don't think that was a great idea. I won't pledge much money to this game. But that doesn't mean I can't hold out hope that it will take a turn for the better. I hope for the sake of the game, your money, and everyone else, that you will be proven wrong. I don't think many people will ever understand how much work goes into a game like this. If you think life around you is expensive, such as groceries, rent, etc, take a step back and imagine how it is for them as well. They have accrued this beyond realistic expectation for this game, and sure, that was fed by the beginning stages of development, but now they have been expected to take r&d and turn it into some crazy new technology never even before seen in gaming, or even thought to be possible. Do you have any idea how much money, and TIME it takes to come up with new things like that. I get it seems like "oh they have been given so much money and time" but truly, and honestly take a step back and view this whole project from a financial stand point. The things they are working on designing, making, and implementing are far more advanced than anything you or I could ever imagine making. If you want to be pessimistic about it, sure, you can. But what I see is new technology being implemented in a way that I think will prove people wrong. Look at current games that have been made. Cyberpunk, with a near 490 million dollar development. Taking almost 9 years to make. It was released as an abomination of a game with hardly any new technology being implemented in the game. Call of duty modern warfare 2. More than 300 million dollars. And again, pretty much no new features implemented anywhere. Sure, better graphics, that is about it. In the grand scheme of game development, there could be worse places the game could be. This game is a beacon for new technology, a break away from old reused technology being used at the same price as luxury. I promise you, even if this game takes another 5 years to make. What we have now is not as bad as you may think. Watch the presentation on server meshing, a MIRACLE in gaming technology, and tell me that doesn't re light your fire even a little.

My hope for the Pioneer base builder has been that it could park off site and produce work packages deliverable to the work site. Largely as a picturesque or otherwise optimal location for a base might be a no-go for landing the giant Pioneer. This demo gives me that vision alongside the shield generators and agricultural towers I've also hoped for. Though I still think skyscraper sized versions of that Hydroponics tower should be a part of places like ArcCorp / Area 18. Overall this was a very satisfying video to watch. It answered a bunch of questions and inspired.
Wow. I had the idea of blueprints 10 years ago for EVE. Discussed this with a friend. Seeing it now in SC is mindblowing. Even better than it would've been in EVE.
I’m losing my mind. I’ve only played this game for a year, maybe less and have seen SO MUCH development. Not there’s BASE BUILDING, all that this game can do and it’s already huge. This can be a game all in itself, harvesting, collecting, building, designing. And it’s all just this little section of the game next to bounty’s mining salvage new planets and whatnot. Can’t stop smiling :)
Absolutely love all the glass and windows. CIG, perfect. I imagine most orgs will have a high risk and low risk bases that they can transfer goods via cargo ship to the safe sector base to cut risks. Sounds like a lot of potential to me. Also if we are going to have boats and stuff water would be a nice place to base near and water falls. If the game ever becomes uber stable you wont get me off this game. This feature will make everyone buy this game.
im confused how they said base building starts dev Q1 2024, but then really hammered down that everything they showed will be in our hands in 12 months. there's no way. I'm guna say some of this stuff we wont see for at least 5 years.
So a lot of this stuff has been partly worked on to some degree. Or basically finished but awaiting arrival to the PU. Also they’ll probably have more hands on deck since squadron 42 is feature complete. Making it easier to get things out. Server meshing is a must for base building to go out correctly tho. So let’s see. Either way it’s coming.
They have stated before that players would use the same tech they use for outpost building, so a lot of the work is already done. They probably mean they'll start concentrating on the player side of things on Q1 2024, but that's speculation on my part.
It would be so cool if we will be able to do delivery missions and cargo runs between our own and other players bases, like the current delivery missions with boxes except made by players instead of the default landing sites.
Just let imagination flow; Your org builds a base under a canopy of trees (or in a massive underground cave structure?) on microtech that makes it near impossible to spot from the sky. As well, you have STRICT ATC fly in / fly -out routes to keep from detection. This base is sitting on a mother load of materials that is churning out millions of UEC, making your org the dominate earning force, and its secrecy is legendary!
@@MaleixonTwitchthat’s because technology that’s never been done before is being built. That video wasn’t just a video it was demonstrating the new game engine. The video also wasn’t edited at all or rendered it was pure gameplay if you wanna call it that. They were flying around in the game showing stuff.
I've heard people wonder what the Maelstrom destruction tech would be used for. Player bases are one of the answers. In Low-Sec and No-Sec places, your bases can be attacked and damaged/destroyed. Even in High-sec areas, if you don't pay your taxes, your base loses it's protection and falls into disrepair and can be attacked at that point. It would also be cool if your base falls into disrepair, that outlaws would spawn and take over the base. Thus adding content to the big empty spaces on planets and moons. You might come back to SC after having taken a break from it and need to clear your property of claim jumpers.
If you did in teams one would be standing at to boxes, another at the top of the ramp and the last person would be in the back of the ship. 1 person would grab the box and place it at the bottom of the ramp, 2 person would bring it up the ramp in reach of number 3, and 3 would stack them.
How cool would it be if bases in orbit (space stations) were made to be the pinnacle of base-building achievement? Basically, make them super expensive to build and maintain so much so that only a well-run Org. could obtain one of any real scale. Additionally, they could introduce smaller mining bases located in asteroid fields, or on/in large asteroids, giving you claim to a designated area for mining. It would introduce defending your claim from claim jumpers trying to steal your minerals, much like the old gold miners used to have to do. This was one of the first things I thought of when seeing this video, so I am sure the devs have thought of this already because it just seems like a logical progression of base building. Hopefully this is something they have on the roadmap because it would be amazing to see implemented.
I really would like a Satisfactory style factory building experience. Creating high value components to sell on the market, and the market value varies depending on availability. The factories must be very difficult to build and maintain, requiring multiple players to maintain. (Ah, he just mentioned Taxes... perfect) Recourses must be limited per planet, just like Starfield, or Dyson Sphere Program, so players/teams are encouraged to create multiple factories, across multiple planets. And with interstellar transportation and automation, complex components can be constructed. Eventually, building up to creating ship components.. and even entire ships.
High security planets will have lesser value resources. No security planets will have more valuable resouces. I doubt they'll get as involved as Satisfactory.
The only concepts missing for base building for the future is adding a storage for gas, liquid and ice materials, same for extractors I would add those two types so gas giant floating base farms and ocean planet farms are possible and viable to make UEC by converting those resources into the normal elements through refining.
As a solo whos never played star citizen yet, if they have small buildings so i could make something like a solo hideout with a small signature that would be awesome. Add another building or satellite dish that hides a base from scans (if the game has local or planetary scans) and the immersion would be perfect. After watching recent Star Citizen videos im actually on the fence if im more excited for Ashes of Creation or Star Citizens future potential
we already have this feature, well, in a way, in Warframe, but it has sort of fixed position within the star map, you can't just go and start building anywhere you want, so this is entirely on another level.
I would really love them to make like really big hangars available to orgs so they can store their stuff there and use it as an community area/Operations Base.
Very ambitious. Honestly I'd be happy with all the QOL improvements and the hanger feature. If they can deliver on that I won't even be mad about SQ42 or pyro no being available.
Yo, Pyro is going to available on the new test test test server lmao , pretty soon... like before the end of this year. And SQ42 is on the home stretch. Super excited. I think the next 2 or 3 years will be REALLY big.
THIS, THIS IS WHAT I WANT. It's so cool they have a lot of balance and plans to require player engagement, so it's not just a thing to obtain and toss on the pile. The only drawback to the required level of maintenance, taxes, defense, active farming is that you really are required to join an organization. That's not bad, but limits what type of playstyle can enjoy these features.
well, if you build a really small settlement its probably doable by yourself and maybe a couple helpers. They really thought that out so all playstyles can be accommodated. No, you can't build a near city sized "base" and run it all by yourself, cause that would be dumb.
that better to handle with small robotic loaders. Like the ones you usin now in your shop warehouse. Cargo trolley is only a way to move large containers (the one beyond your own size.)
maybe they said it, maybe i missed it, but i wonder if many people can come together and place claims right next to eachother and make cities fully populated by players
Olli i used to watch your videos years ago and I’m returning with my tail between my legs asking you to please cover the release of GTA 6. I am confused about the ships and how they equate to base building. So the ship size determines the size of the base? Or the type of the ship? The Pioneer makes sense, but I am lost on the other ships
Think the size of the base is only determined by how big of an area you can afford to claim (possibly some max size limits). The size of the construction vehicle you're using then dictate the maximum size of the buildings you can chose from.
@@CopperRavenProductions The size they speak of is per building module. Not per land size. There are only two sizes of claims, 4K and 8K. Then there are the building/structure sizes, S-XL. The size of building that can be done by each vehicle/ship/system relates to how much resources they can hold and the ability to construct. Each step larger costs more money. Either you purchase the vehicle or rent out one from a player or terminal. The galaxy has a module listed for construction, and yes, the vehicle one is not even in concept yet. The smallest seems to me to be just the initial land beacon itself.
They added base building, be cause it's the trending now days, actually, it has been for a few years now. That said, it leads to longer developing -> more money.

I like emersion but please tell me who would enjoy hand loading a BMM or the Hull ships full of cargo. Even the Reclaimer moving the boxes gets boring. Galaxy is modular so future will add building modules etc etc as they come up with newer ideas.
I REALLY hope they make it so that ÿou need to order in Starfarers to refuel your base so that you can then refuel your ships from there... but not that you can get fuel everywhere, or that you build a lunch pad and then automatically can refuel there
There will be more than just farers carrying fuel. Vehicles and ships to come will be able to do the same, but I figure the general idea of what you are saying will hold true. As well as ammo and repair resources.
I wonder just exactly how much the taxes are going to be, as well as how often you'll need to pay, grace periods, etc... It also seems they could implement a market for properties seized for delinquent taxes, you know a tax sale.
LOooL...i work on a boat that loads and offloads cargo via automatic elevators and trucks. The boat was built in 2009. Haha and this is the future? Running around with guns in space moving cargo hahaha....

As a solo whos never played star citizen yet, if they have small buildings so i could make something like a solo hideout with a small signature that would be awesome. Add another building or satellite dish that hides a base from scans (if the game has local or planetary scans) and the immersion would be perfect. After watching recent Star Citizen videos im actually on the fence if im more excited for Ashes of Creation or Star Citizens future potential
we already have this feature, well, in a way, in Warframe, but it has sort of fixed position within the star map, you can't just go and start building anywhere you want, so this is entirely on another level.
now imagine in 10 years they also add diving technology like sao. you dont want to leave anymore
Ollie wants hangers, I want the aerodynamic surfaces. Please make it happen Chris
Olis hangar is gunna be like that scene from Thor Ragnarok. "Behold! My stuff."
FINALLY THE DAY COME TRUE! BASE BUILDING OFFICIALY CONFIRMED, THERE IS NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE AT THIS POINT FOR STAR CITIZEN!
so if an org buys a bunch of land next to each other. They can create a huge city
You could build like a community city with ur viewers omfg that would be so great
i can already see myself dying to the cargo trolley
Collecting all the blueprints is going to be my entire life.
I plunged so deep into this game for 3 years. I gave it up after my 3rd wipe. When wipes go away, I will play this the rest of my life.
Thanks for being the most positive streamer I have seen to date, for Star Citizen. Great Video.
Then you haven't seen BoredGamer.
I cant wait to be able to spawn ground vehicles in the hangers
I don't know if this was mentioned but I can see when they'll included a trolley ai freight robot someday.
that better to handle with small robotic loaders. Like the ones you usin now in your shop warehouse. Cargo trolley is only a way to move large containers (the one beyond your own size.)
Thats the Future of Gaming
I have never been more hyped for SC!! The pieces are finally falling into place.
If this turns out to be ANYTHING alike Eve Online, someone forgets to pay their Tax, and suddenly 5 Bengals and 100 Javelins are dead
Literally one of the things ive been waiting for since i started playing so stoked
Yes!!! And if i can go past the loadingscreen,i would play every day!
maybe they said it, maybe i missed it, but i wonder if many people can come together and place claims right next to eachother and make cities fully populated by players
HANGARS :((((( you dont hang stuff from them, theres no "E" :(
😂
It's an unspoken rule of this channel that states: "we shall not tell him untill we get out of beta"
Bold of you to assume i wont hang stuff from my hangar
@@2012RUclipsWasBetter Then it WOULD be a hanger AND a hangar
@@kasperlindmark what if he’s metaphorically trying to say you’ll hang yourselves in the hangar if you try to play it ?
Olli i used to watch your videos years ago and I’m returning with my tail between my legs asking you to please cover the release of GTA 6. I know your content has changed and evolved but your coverage of GTA 5 back in 2012/2013 was invaluable and i believe your journalistic talent is now needed once again 10 years later. Please consider.
I am so glad they thinking about solo players too.
this is like all the things i want
in SC
I won’t shill out for a vehicle.. but a land claim I might just start investing
I hope they add a base module design tool later on for more customization.
I would love to have the hanger back, but im not really sure how they are going to make them properly persistant at the spaceports
This looks so cool, the CIG carrot just got a whole lot bigger. When are we going to actually see the base building?
Honestly, with this, I really want to join an org to do stuff.
So the Rsi Galaxy is a construction ship? Also the ground vehicle is not one we have in the game currently.
@@DarthPoyner Thanks for taking the time to explain all of that. It was really lost on me, and the Rsi really threw me off.
Anyone that played SWG is so happy about resource gathering and crafting.
They added base building, be cause it's the trending now days, actually, it has been for a few years now. That said, it leads to longer developing -> more money.
Damn they really took the Eve online system for the base building ! Since it's a fking good system, props to them
Hey at minute 4:24 when you thank the sponsor .. you have a Chongqing poster over your right shoulder.. why? have you been there? Great vid btw
reminds me of star wars galaxies. looks very cool
Papy came in like a boss and dropped the mic on the way out. He knew he had the biggest reveal aside from S42. I love crafting as end game in MMOs. I will be a no life Star Citizen real!
i just want the ability to fly my Nomad that's been gathering "goods" from Microtech back and forth to a personal hangar on Port Tressler, and each time transferring my "goods" from my Nomad to my RAFT. and then once my RAFT is full fly it to GH to unload.
starfield who? damn, i want to build my freeza ship home lol
Very similar to the Rust economy. Taxes/upkeep, raiding, blueprints...it's a decent way to manage virtual real estate & resources.
This is a moment many of us have been waiting for, and i mean for a long while!
This is the tic that's gonna bite so hard when this is released into the game, it will drive the crowd nuts and this will be the game everyone is talking about! 😀
So 8 years or so before we get base building
Basically EVE online mechanics for zones and productions. I like that, just hope they make it all solo friendly as well, as in EVE its all possible with corps only in the end game.
That's not true, I solo out in nullsec a lot
This will be a new type of ASMR, ASMR Cargo Hauling in SC.
It's like working in a warehouse... but in the future!
Man i am so fkn hyped holy, i talk every time with my friend when on Sc that it would be col to be able to build your home on your fav planet and stat doing stuff. Now i can't vait for the dasy we will be able to do it. Hopefully one day they add AI that roam around map, or builds structures and you have to stop them and even alien creature would be awesome, to fill up a bit the emptiness of planets. hopes are getting high now for this game to get to full max potential.
Dude this thing looks genuinely close to launch
ngl my reaction to every new feature was "YES!! FINALLY!"
I can't believe all this coming into the Verse 😍😍 I don't have this game right now but I'm sooooo excited for everything 🔥🔥 I can't wait for this game to complete. This game will be one Legendary game and one of my most favourite. I played it during a free fly event in 2952, It's been long since then and I can't wait to play this game again... Working hard so I can afford a PC/laptop and Buy this game as Soon as possible 🤩 Thank you Chris and Team for creating this Amazing Art.
Star Citizen is giving Apple Keynote vibes
First minute I'm thinking, well a Mule would he nice for this to make it faster.
I foresee large cities sprawling up that are player built lol
I love the idea of moving crates yourself. But they need to give you an option that allows you to pay for the AI to instantly just stack it in your ship.
i think they'd rather opt to have ai load cargo in real time if you pay them, cig isnt too keen on this instant appearance of boxes
You got my like at bounty corner...🤣
This is blowing me away rn. I feel like Starfield kicked em in the ass to catch up, and show us they have resource generation and base building too, and the design really is unique, I like it. And, Im a long time player, long enuf that IK we've come leaps and bounds now as it is, and with the tools in place we might actually see some real progress in the mid to late term future. Exciting indeed. I love this game.
And did no one catch the "from here, we're seeing about what we can do IN SPACE..." As in fuckin SECRET-ASTEROID-SPACE-STATION-LAIR-HOME-BASE! Boom. That's me reading between the lines, lol
Hold the line !!!! !!
Galaxy must have a module for it I’d guess?
Fishing, when?
The halo vibe music I’m living
Let's go Olli. I'll join, help a guild with all of us.
LOooL...i work on a boat that loads and offloads cargo via automatic elevators and trucks. The boat was built in 2009. Haha and this is the future? Running around with guns in space moving cargo hahaha....
I love moving boxes! More please! Not even joking, im excited. Id work as a dockworker and just hang around station all day passing gossip
This ones crazy! I hope it meets its day with being above many games out there, somewhat a nms but more enjoyable teaming or solo field, love the whole developpment & updates coming to it
If this game ever gets VR support, I will buy whatever PC is needed. No Man's Sky is awesome in VR, this would be unbelievably amazing.
eve vibes, good design direction
Im honestly surprised they completed squadron 42 , i thought they are not even close to being ready
We will be star citizens IKEA. cheap chairs and desks for sale
can we have a more densely populated base? like a refugee system or something
