I'm from Louisiana, and I went to college at FSU - both states with large gator populations, and I've done a lot of fishing in both states. This is purely anecdotal evidence, but I've found the gators in Florida to be more aggressive than in Louisiana, and I think it's because Florida, having a larger population (of humans), has more human/gator interaction...more people feeding them, and therefore the gators lose the fear of man. I actually like seeing a good sized gator where I fish - they keep the cottonmouth populations down.

My old pastor went to school in Florida. He was fishing with a friend at a golf course pond at night. ( yes, they had permission to fish) he saw a cottonmouth swimming across the lake. About ten feet behind the snake was a large gator. A minute later, there was a big splash, and the snake was gone-- alligator food!

The gators in north Florida, especially the panhandle are more like Louisiana gators, you won't see em unless you go out in the swamp at night with a light.

being from Fl seeing others coming down and having fun catching fish that you can catch nowhere else in US is great. The spot you were at that you caught most of the fish is one of the best spots to fish for peacock bass from the bank and if you have a kayak a great spot to launch from as the fish get even bigger as you go farther back.

When in Florida and you fish these types of water you have to stay on the lookout for gators, when tossing fish back into the water you are making a big splash and that’s the dinner bell for gators.

    Great fishing man!
While impressive to see my favorite colder water native bass fishing lure doing amazing in that environment, I bet you would have done better with a crank bait or jerk bait, or finesse worm.
Btw was that the regular little Nikko, or the newer big ones?
It's also sad that your catching all these invasive fish, there seems to be no more native bass, which can grow monstrous in FL.
The USA has been invaded by so many different species in the last 50 years, we are in big trouble as a country.

I wonder how aggressive gators are if a person is in a kayak. I wouldn’t want to be the one to find out. The reason I was saying this is if they didn’t mess with a person in a kayak you could get to lots of untouched water down there. That is probably why it stays untouched because it probably is to dangerous. Just guessing!

I was wondering about all the trash you see when you fish. Do you have maybe a biodegradable trash bag, that you could gather that trash and put in your truck to get rid of it later. Or even leave the bagged up trash there in hopes the road crew or someone else would despise of it. You do enough, but I would just want to get rid of that trash. We love you and your Godly endings. Thanks.
