What are you planning to buy with that gold medal? Think about it! You motivated me to start doing pyramid bigspins again. I was doing them eyes closed at my young age...now i'm old and beat up. Will you come see the TAZ while you'll be near?
when she said she doesn't belong it reminded me of this Rodney Mullen quote: "Skaters, I think they tend to be outsiders who seek a sense of belonging, but belonging on their own terms, and real respect is given by how much we take what other guys do, these basic tricks, 360 flips, we take that, we make it our own, and then we contribute back to the community the inner way that edifies the community itself. The greater the contribution, the more we express and form our individuality. Which is so important to a lot of us who feel like rejects to begin with. The summation of that gives us something we could never achieve as an individual. There's some sort of beautiful symmetry that the degree to which we connect to a community is in proportion to our individuality which we are expressing in what we do."
That hit home on so many levels. Everyone I knew who skated with me during my teens and early adulthood came into skateboarding for those exact reasons and it saved many of us from so much pain. It was our way of escaping and not going down paths that would've ruined us. Forever grateful that my sister stopped using her skateboard and I managed to snag it at age 7-8.
I think she is saying when she saying she does not feel like she belong its more of a identify crises being half Thai ( Luk korn) in which she will be reminded everyday of her life from the Thais that she is a Luk Korn and will be accepted but not as accepted ..
"Everybody deserves a chance to skate" That mindset will takes her far, love hearing that. To those from a country where skating is an expensive sport, really appreciate her saying that.
I often tell people "skateboarding saved my life", they often laugh; it's not a joke , it true for me, it's true for others,. This was a great segment, thanks you.
LOVE that I happen to stumble upon this video just a few days before the contest in Ontario (and I am also a female skater in Canada). We definitely do need more people like her in the community... she rocks 🤟 And so do you, Mike... I still think your videos are the best for entertainment, travel, and skate-related content on RUclips! 👌❤
What a dope video! And Orapan is such a good host. The places you guys went are really awesome, I love how conscious the park is about people's earnings and allowing people to come skate for free. So thoughtful! Definitely deserves the ticket!
What a great content…. Mike deserves a praise considering how you present this video and really exposes the many sides and perspectives of skateboarding. I’m not a skater but i just love to watch your videos, i also noticed how your video style became clearer and clearer from the start, it’s really interesting to notice the progress here and thr…
Dude! Great work on this! I miss skating, my knees don't. But it made me tear. To be honest. Definitely captured the land of smiles. Thank you! I'll always share the message. 🎉 stoked!
So nice to see pure positive GIRLPOWER! Thailand is a hard country to make money for a girl without a proper education, so this makes me warm inside from this positive film& I wish her all the best!! Chok dee from Pratheeth Sweden! 👊👊❤✌
Hello Nong Orapan!! Ajarn Joe here. I live in Don Muang with my Thai wife. I've been living here since 2006. Shan rak pathet Thai!! People like you are the reason why I live here.
bro, I'm almost crying over this girl's life outlook. she's so mature and wise and full of empathy. I wish more of us were like her. I could try harder myself
I am glad your channel came across my feed. I am not a skater myself, but I have always admired skaters ever since growing up in California as a kid. I'm not wired for the thrill and the dedication the way you all are, but I can still draw inspiration from your skill and from the amazing philosophy of life that many skaters have. I am happy to subscribe to your channel.

Mike, you have the best skateboarding RUclips channel in existence. (Even better than Thrasher) Not only is your content well made and fun, but what you are doing is truly meaningful. Keep it up!
honestly your videos are so sick. we'd never know about these people or these skate scenes around the world otherwise. Ora has a great personality and she's super good at skating. keep it going!
This was dope! Subbed. The freedom, community & creativity of skating still inspires me even though I haven't skated in years. Time to get me an old head set up lllol.
@@Theskatenomad& since you visit brunei the other day, a lot of bruneians is back with skateboarding again this week, good news bro for the skate community here 👍🏻
Memories of my youth 45 years ago. My wife is Thai and we have a house in Bangkok as well as Australia. I will refrain from visiting the skate parks, 20 year old mind in a 60 year old body is not a good combination. I don't bounce on the pavement as well as I used to. I am happy to see the parks are open to all, not just the rich kids.😅
@@Theskatenomad I can if I dare. I do more motorcycle touring in my old age. Since the age of 40 I have ridden thousands of kilometres around Thailand, across into Laos and the Northern Border with Myanmar known as 'The Golden Triangle'. Still surfing as well, when you grew up in Sydney, then moved north to live next to an uncrowded beach, it's very difficult to get the beach out of the boy (stops me getting fat on Thai food also).
