Great tips. You gave me more confidence caulking. Wetting your finger is a good one!
I’m glad I could be of help! 😊
Good job! Whenever I can get a caulk color that matches the floor I’ll use it instead. Makes for less noticeable dips in the floor. In your case, I’m certain using the white was most likely your only choice.
Thank you and thank you for sharing your input my friend! 🙏🏽😊
As always, great info clearly presented!
Great tips as always.
Thank you!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏽😊

I’m glad you liked it! 🙏🏽😊
Thx for the video because i always struggle with caulking baseboards, haha
THANK YOU!!!
I’m glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
Good video 👍🏼
If the baseboard isn't painted, I'm guessing it's new too, why not just scribe the base to the floor and rip it on the table saw, or sand it with a belt sander.
Thanks
You are very welcome! 🙏🏽
Wow, I been a subscriber my rub and the wall ceramic tile wall and floor you can see under it. Already cut tip too big spreading it with my fingers. I said I need to type in how to do it best. Clicked the video didn't even see what it was about but it was exactly what I was looking for. Sending Love from Chicago Smooches 😘 07/29/24
But how do you do the same thing with trim that isn’t white nor smooth. I have rough cedar square boards with LVP flooring in my basement. It’s not caulked and not clue if I should do to it being below grade, ei, below ground basement. But how would you handle it?
I need a video for conpletley tiled showers. I need to recaulk those places at 90⁰ angles . We have a tiled bench in the shower too. So where that meets the next tiled wall has mold build up very quickly. Only thing that helps is spraying a bleach cleaner and letting it sit for an hour.
When i use tape it usually leaves a ridge when you peel it off. One more gentle pass with a wet finger to get it perfect
My guy they make, half inch tape that's cheaper.
Dont forget to double up on the rubber tips. 😏
I love me my air-powered caulk gun. I'm still horrible at it, but not AS horrible.
Scribing the baseboard is a far better option then caulk, its permanent and givee you that clean look. Not too difficult with the right tools and techniques.
If you have vinyl planks, won't this stop the planks from expanding and contracting? They say to leave room on the ends of planks for this.
Flexible sealant
This is exactly why this guy doesn't know how to do a job right. Any hard floor requires shoe molding in front of the base, this closes up any gaps and allows the flooring to move. Caulk has it's place for sure but not where this guy is using it. This guy can't make it in the real world so he's selling his hack ideas on you tube.
@@buyamerican3191 install with baseboards removed. Scribe the lower part of the baseboard to any unevenness of the installed floors and cut accordingly. No sealant required. I was never a fan of the 1/4 rounds. Then again I don’t do flooring anymore. Too hard on the knees and customers usually have a packed house of furniture and boxes.
You’re right. That’s why you finish off floating floors with 1/4 round molding and only nail it to the baseboard.
@@fixedit8689 I and my wife are also not fans of 1/4 round either. We feel that's the lazy man's way of finishing a floor. Scribing is the best method.
When I see caulked gaps instead of scribed trim/baseboard, I immediate think "rental unit".
Isn't that you are not supposed to clauk that for floor in case of expansion that will break your floor ???
What? Why are you using your finger as spatula? Why protective caps are purchased separately from caulking tube?
What about using Quarter round moulding
Yes 👍🏽 I mentioned that in the video 🙏🏽😊…but be aware of using them.
Quarter round is a sure sign of someone that owes their knowledge to you tube. shoe molding is what is used by professionals, not caulk!
You need to paint the caulk. If you dont it will get nasty looking and not cleanable.
Water based caulk is made to be painted after applied.
3M Orange Core Tape is used if you use tape and dont want have an edge when you pull it up
Caulk to floor is never a good idea.
Water is good for silicone caulk clean up, but if using acrylic caulk use window cleaner. Be less smearing and you'll get a smoother bead.
Thank you for sharing your tips and techniques! 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
I use soapy water on silicone
Silicone you use window cleaner not acrylic
Denatured Alcohol.
Caulking is an art and this guy does NOT have it mastered. You always have to run your finger BOTH ways to lay in the caulk correctly. It takes time and practice to be an expert.
I think caulking under the baseboard does not look good no matter how you do it.
