Hey Antonio, I scored 658. Kind of embarrassed since I wear 514 & 541's and I'm 44. I wore uniforms all my life so I never really had to worry about my wardrobe.
you probably dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch all the new movies on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my gf for the last couple of months :)
I think it's also important to mention that if you get a pair of Levi's that fit you great, don't just look at the style number (501, 505, 511, etc), but also where they are made (Pakistan, Egypt, Mexico, etc). In my personal experience, I've found that Pakistan made 505's are my favorite style and make of Levi's, 505's made in any other country do not fit me the same as the Pakistan made ones. If you try a certain style that fits your frame at a store, make sure you sample from the different countries where they are made.
I'm trying to find a pair of Levis that are my bfs but he has worn them out and all I can see is "straight taper" on the inside of the waistband, nothing else is visible, can anyone help me find this Levi? He doesn't remember the numbers on it, but they make my butt look great! 😃😃😃😃
Which ones look best with Jordans, that are tight around the ankle, that aren’t baggy, but at the same time I’m not trying to get really skinny jeans. Never bought a pair or skinny jeans yet lol, but at the same time it’s not 2005 and I don’t want baggy either. Guess I have to get with the times. Lol
Do you guys feel like the 511s crotch is cut really high compared to other designers? Always loved the look of Levi’s but man it can be uncomfortable sometimes
This is a great breakdown! Thank you. I’ve been wearing 501 shrink to fit and 541 for years. But now that my son is a teenager, I can use this to help guide him in his search for jeans. He’s trying to find his own style balanced with a slim athletic build.
Perfect timing! I was headed out to the Levi’s store yesterday and was on their site looking at the fit options. Then clicked over to RUclips and saw this video! Helped know what to try on first. I went with the 512 Slim Tapered. Fit amazing! Thanks Antonio!
@@michaelcraig9449 Depends on if you're cut or mass. I'm more cut so I wear slim fit. I workout 6 days a week and two of those days are cardio so I can stay lean. To say people who wear slim fit are not muscular is a sweeping generalization.
Im 73. Teased that I wear grandpa jeans. Watched video. Went to a Levi's store and tried several pairs. Went with your recommenddation of trying Levi's 512 and a size smaller than my 505's. Fit great. Got a thumbs up from former critics of my old Levis.
I used to buy my Levi's Jeans at my nearby Macy's and JC Penney stores, but they've all closed. My only option (other than driving long distance) is buying on the Internet which is a roll-of-the-dice on finding the right fit for my odd-body build.
The BEST breakdown of Levis yet. I tried ALL models in a dressing room and have to agree with you, the 513 fits me best and is for us guys with thick thighs or a butt and maybe a little chubb in weight. Awesome, I love my 513s.
Great video. This would have been helpful when I went shopping for jeans a few months ago. By trial and error, I found that the 502’s fit me perfectly. As you said, they’re a clean, versatile option that you can dress up or down. I bought 3 pairs of 502’s in dark denim, black, and tan, and looking to pick up grey soon. I would highly recommend this style to your athletic to average built men who want more tailored jean look.
The video I have been looking for. Just want to say thank you for mentoring all of us with your RUclips videos. Not only do I have a richer understanding of men’s style but you have helped me become a better man. Thank you.
Are they 100 % cotton? Do you feel the fabric will hold up some abuse? I need them for skateboarding what you think? I need some space between my legs to get safe landings
Went shopping for Levi’s today using your recommendations, Ty. Noticed that the different colours within the same line fit completely different, very frustrating.
I went to a Levi store this week and I tried on six different pairs of jeans to find my ideal fit. And I found the 512 is close to perfect with 511 being a close second. And yes the difference was exactly what you said that the 512 had a little bit more of a tapered calf which is what was important for me so I can size up for my big glutes and calves and then still have a nice thin leg
I've been wearing Levi's for over 20 years now and I've graduated from the 501 (available everywhere) to 513's which seem to be plentiful a few years back, but harder to find these days in actual brick and mortar stores, but that may just be specific to my area. Like it says in this video, the 513 is for people with a generally slim build who may have increased their waist and butt size over the years, and for me the fit is perfect....when I can find them in my size.
I just got my first pair of 502s and I couldn’t be happier. I got the dark grey color and this fit and quality is out of this world. For anyone wondering I’m 5/11 165lbs in pretty good shape and that extra room in the thigh makes this pair of jeans so incredibly comfortable
My mother bought me 511 and it stay with me for last 10 years and it finally ripped few days ago. Kinda sad but I really serve it purpose. Will stay with Levi forever!
Just bought a set. I spent so long going through all the different options! First I chose my colour (indigo dark blue), then I had to figure out which fit. As I'm a slimmer guy, I tend towards slimmer jeans, so I narrowed it down to 3 options: - 510 (skinny) - 511 (slim) - 512 (slim taper) I tried all three on, and took photos of each in the mirror, to go home and review, and narrowed it down to the 510s and 512s. Then I went into the store again, and tried both of these two finalists on, before settling on the 512s.
I found out about 8 years ago the 514's were the best for me since I wear them below the waist, have long legs, no ass & being 6'4". 30 years ago, I was doing 501's 505's & 550's & really didn't have a clue to study the numbers thinking everyone else was wearing 501's so 501's were the go-to jean. I think I still have 501's shrink to fit with the tags still on them from the late 80's early 90's made in the US. Antonio, you are the man to compile all the fashion information for men who are clueless & don't have any direction when looking their best. Thank you.
I have one pair of 511, from yrs ago, I just a pair of black 511, haven't worn them yet, I think 511s will be my cut from here on out, I'm 62 and wear Chelsea boots and these should look good with the boots, what do you think?
@@michaelstratton6701 I think so. I wear a lot of boots. Chelseas, Doc Martens, Solovairs (The real Doc Martens) and all kinds of different mens ankle boots. The 511 goes well with all of them. The only ones that are hard to pull off are the really wide ones like big cowboy boots or some certain motorcycle boots. But even then, you can make it work somehow by tucking them in most of the time. If you got the right body type, the 511 is a friend for life. I'm 30 and I buy that style since the age of 16. Tried others over the years, but none is like a 511. The best part is, that I never have to think about jeans again. I know my size so if I need one, I buy one. Easy as that. If only dress pants were so simple...
@Michael Stratton yeah I did. For me personaly they are to tight and look horrible. When I was 16 and really skinny they looked pretty okay. But after 22, when I started to go in the gym and build some muscle mass, I looked awful in 510s. To me they don't look like jeans anymore. More like leggings. Also, in my opinion skinny jeans only look good with one look only. Converse, a T-shirt and preferably long hair. (A great look by the way) But boots look weird in skinny jeans. Same as most jackets. Or even worse, (winter) coats. The discrepancy between how these cloth lay on your body is (at least for me) to big. Jackets and boots make you look bigger and wider, so together with a skinny jeans it looks unproportional. Long, skinny legs, big feet and a big upper body. Thats kinda strange lookin. I prefer a look, that make my legs slim, but still look like outdoor cloth, not leggings. They should fit with everything else. Not just Converse and a Shirt only. Also, for me at least they where kind of uncomfortable. But I have to add, in the summertime, I always see some kids and teens who can rock them fine, with that one look I mentioned. And I know there are plenty other styles you could where them, that I personaly just don't like. And there are some body types, like super skinny guys, who look better in them as others. So for everyone who wants to try them, I say go for it.
Thanks Antonio. The problem I have with Levis is that they don't have 7 belt loops as other brands do and thats why I don't buy them. Levis please do the public a favor and put 7 belt loops on your jeans as in my opinion you get a better fit with the extra belt loops as in with wearing a belt and being a little overweight, without the extra loops that part of the jeans eventually slips under the belt, I hope I made some sense as to what Im trying to say to Levis, they would certainly increase their sales, cutting corners to save a penny in fabric is not always the best solution. Quality is the name of the game and by not having the extra belt loops you lose business. I have bought cheap jeans at Walmart and they have 7 loops. Come on Levis step up to the plate!
My draw is stocked with 511s, 513s, and 514s. I’m 6’5” and average about 200 lbs. pretty slim and slender. The style I wear mostly depends on the season (i.e. the size of my waist) lol! But I do like the 513.
The 513 for me has too much fabric below the knee and I find the leg opening too big and swallowed up my shoes. I can see them being good though if you have bigger feet.
Same here on the 513's, but I'm 6'1", 195 lbs. There may be another style that would fit me better than these, but I cant be bothered spending the better part of a Saturday afternoon in a retail store dressing room😁
My favorite Levi's are the 541 athletic taper and I love them so much that I bought every single color of jeans they had and now I don't even waste money on any other brands.
I scored 763. Before I switched to Wranglers out of utility, 501 is my go to for Levi. Nowadays, I get my jeans made to measure but the construction are based on Wrangler.
I fit well in 511 in the dresser and purchased two pairs (dark and light wash). As I was using them I noticed problems with my rear end as they slide down when I sit. The 511 are low rise jeans so if you're a bit on the big side they tend to expose a bit of butt. A firm belt fixes the problem but are not as comfortable. Be sure to fit your jeans also sitting down and squatting.
I also have the same issue on my 511. I want a higher rise jeans with same or similar leg cut. But sadly I find Levi's lineup is too confusing, less color options for some models, and most of the modern fits offer only low rise.
Same. The 511 and 513 fit my legs perfectly but I can't stand the low rise. Unfortunately they don't have any slim fit with medium rise. Might have to check out the 527 since I don't mind a slight boot cut
Levis used to offer odd lengths in some models. That made a lot more sizes to fit a lot more men properly, but of course, it also cost more to sustain. Almost 22 years ago in a US military Exchange in Germany, I bought a couple of pairs of 550s in 32x33; they're still in my closet and are still wearable--no blowouts. Length 32 was always too short, and 34 too long. When the odd lengths went away, I bought 34 and cuffed them. Now, with no cartilage left in my knees, I can wear 32 length.
I've actually been getting more into Chinos lately but still don't mind keeping at least 2 pairs of jeans in the wardrobe since they're still convenient. How many jeans do you have Antonio? Truly curious although you're probably not a minimalist when it comes to pants but still would be fascinating to know since you always pull off the sport coat and jeans combo so well. Thanks for the inspiration as always!
I remember working at the GAP during college and we had a wall in the back with nothing but Shrink to Fit. Then I recall a 550 if my memory is correct. Mid to late 80s
My favorites are the 505 Flex Stretch. I have had a difficult time finding this particular style. Not sure if they are already obsolete but they fit just well and are very stretchy and comfortable!
I think it's fine that they have these options, but there is some inconsistencies. A 511 from 1 factory might be slightly different from a 511 from another factory. Gap is guilty of this too.
The best 501s were american (we called em Red Tags back in the day). They had straight legs, red stitching in both edges of the burst seam on the outer leg (later copied by Diesel), pocket lining as tough as the denim and fitted beautifully.
40-50 bucks made in u.s. back then . 60 to 70 made in who knows where now. They feel thinner now too. No thanks on modern day Levis. Plus the are too much into woke activism. So that stops me from buying.
Within all of these fits, jeans are divided into stretch and non stretch, and within these 2 options, you have lightweight, medium weight, and heavy denim. A lightweight stretch jean in a size 30x30 can feel a world's difference than the same exact fit and size but in a heavyweight non stretch pair. Jeans also break in over time slightly, which is tricky to gauge how they will fit long term. Jeans are one of those things where it can be so simple, but at the same time insanely complicated. I spent years helping people find the right Levi's haha.
@@jeffreardon3969 because synthethic fiber is helping to compensate a non perfect fit and the customer will more likely buy if it fits more comfy from the beginning while 100% cotton needs break in and a much more perfection in fit cause it wont stretch in areas that are a bit tight
@@rudimussrodeln Great points. In the end the jeans will be less durable. I love cotton jeans, the break in experience and the durability. Cotton fibers are very tough and do not degrade. The elastomer fibers will lose shape and the consumer will feel it and see it in the jeans In the end, the consumer is getting an inferior product with a shorter product life span. Thanks.
Great video if you're a loyal Levi customer AND want to add or diverstise your jean collection but not sure where to start with all the varieties and suitability to your body style. This video is very helpful.
My last pair of 501s , were purchased from the Levis shop last November and they made with the new waterless construction method , I wore through at the crotch with 6 months. I normally have four pairs of jeans on the go at once, so it wasn't like they were being wore every day. I've worn 501's since the late 80's, with the exception of 1999- 2003 when I wore slightly looser Levis. I doubt I'll be buying any more Levi's unless I can find used 90's-00's pairs in decent condition.
Try the 541’s that have 10 to 15% poly / stretch in them. They fit great in the leg and the hips / waist stretches a little. You can get them an inch smaller in the waist and still be comfortable. Check the label not all 541’s have the 10 to 15% poly
I used to wear 511s 33 waist and it was never quite right and needed time to break in. Surprisingly, I found that moving to the 541s in 30 waist was the perfect fit. I did it on a whim and didn’t expect it to fit that well. TLDR - try on different fits (regardless of what you think you are) in different sizes to find your right fit.
It's funny how I followed the trend over the decades. Started with 501 went to 550 during the baggy faze then to 505 for bit now back to 501s. Gonna check out the 513 & 514. So many new styles I never even knew existed.
502 tapered are the best fit for your body type out of many if not all of the styles! I didn’t think Levi’s would get it perfect but they did! These are going to be my only go to style only! 502 tapered 38-34 I usually go 38,40-32 but for your frame go exact with a longer inseam instead of a shorter inseam! I’m overly impressed!!! Very very perfect!!! Levi’s got it right this time!!! You can even see for yourself…. Go to the department store grab the 502 tapered and hold them up against all of the other styles at the waist and see the contoured cut of the jeans vs. all the others and you’ll notice the cut difference instantly!!!
As someone who is born, raised, and still lives in Northern California, Levi’s are the only jeans I’ll buy. I’ve been close to venturing out to other brands, but I just can’t do it!!! Thanks for the informative video!!!
crashed my honda 750 in the mountains in Redding, California in 1977 from a trucker opening his passenger door and pretend to kick at me which drove my bike off the mountainside and i laid there for 5 days. thought of moving to northern California, setting up camp, and try to find the driver of that redwood tree hauling truck.
Got my style score and signed up to one of the courses. As part of the course I received a Zoom call from one of the style representatives, this was a real bonus. Gavin offered loads of advice and tips and was very supportive of my quest to be the man I know I can be. He was a total gent. I would definitely recommend finding out your style score and availing of the style system. I have definitely learned more info that i plan on putting in to action.
I stopped buying Levi's a few years ago for a couple of reasons. The main reason is that I would need a stack of Levi's to find 2 pair that fit the same way. The QC seemed lacking and I seem to remember that they were made in a different 3rd world country each time that I tried them on.
Navy seals used to wear 501s & 505s in Vietnam, god forbid you do anything athletic in today's jeans, you can't even deadlift 100kg without them breaking at every seam.
Fun fact here: When I was a teenager in the early 1990s and way into the second half of the 90s, the 501 was simply THE jeans to wear - nothing else would be deemed acceptable in the schoolyard. I had several of them in 30/32 and they fit me perfectly. That is why I tried some recently and found them way too loose around the legs, and especially the leg opening. I don't remember them being so wide in the lower legs! I know I could easily wear them over a long shaft boot (which looks really silly if you wear a 511 or, may God forbid, a 510), but they were not that loose. Disappointed I returned them and stuck with 511 and 512 for the past ~10 years (after I ditched my last bootcuts... HA! ;-)
Something I didn't see you mention is the video is the Denizen from Levi. I wear the 218 straight fit and the 208 regular taper fit. I consider them the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn. They are great for work where you are constantly on the move. If you have to bend down a lot, walk a lot, or get up and down from your seat often, then I can't recommend them enough. Side Note: I can only find them at retail locations. So getting the right size can be a challenge at times.
Denizen is a budget line from Levi's only available at certain locations (only seen at Target from my experience). Not a bad value but not as ubiquitous as the mainline Levi's in this video.
I have over 20 pairs of Levi's and 6 pairs of 501 same exact size and each pair fits slightly different. Nothing beats that button fly! Levi's are so versatile either work or getting dressed up! once you get that first pair you're hooked for life! Got to get the Jean jacket to mix in the rotation! Haha i love the video you really break it down! 👍👍
@@hogg8305 the more you wear them overtime they will break-in and stretch a little bit. The denim itself isn't stretchable. And the less you wash them the better they feel
Thank you for this video! I prefer to buy Levis for jeans, but I had no idea that they had such a variety of styles. I tried on some 541's and they fit SO much better than my traditional 505's!
The addition of elastane imo makes the jeans hold up longer. For me anyway the all cotton jeans wear out in the crotch quicker. Also any one remember when Levis had the orange tab on the pocket and the silver tab jeans.
My experience is the total opposite. The ones with elastane wear out at the crotch after a few months while I never had that happen with all cotton. Usually, the all cotton would wear out at the knees way before the crotch.
I've only had one pair with the elastane (cant remember the style now, was more than 15 years ago) but the crotch area wore out in less than 4 years...no thanks. It may have been specific to the number style I bought, but that was my experience and why I stick to cotton denim these days.
Off At last you uploaded the guidelines. Thanks sir 😀. To be honest I am a loyal customer of Levi's.😁 Their jeans are functional as well as comfortable. I tried other brands which are available in India. But the problem with most of the brands are either you have to compromise with quality or comfort or budget etc.
Former 501/511 maniac but now love 512 and 510 to match stan smith, superstar and boots so they looks great in fit look.let’s do change and more fresh and young looks.
I have had bad experiences with my last 2 or 3 purchases of late. I always order 501's and I have been wearing them for 40+ yrs but of late the styles have varied greatly in some cases. Last ones I ordered fit very baggy in the legs and ass area. Even after several washes. The time before that they wear made of a very stiff denim and to this day are still very stiff and I've washed them over 30 times. Also the back pockets on the stiff denim kind were small. Barely holds my wallet yet my older 501's are capable of holding my wallet.
hey Antonio, I made a Levi's Jean guide very similar to this a few months back. You've been huge inspiration for me to start my own channel and I would love to collab with you! 👌
I think my personal favorites are the 541 and the 501 for me personally! I own a great pair of 541 and they are very comfortable plus the silhouette looks great with any outfit! The 501s are always a classic as well!
767. Love my pair of 511's. I want to get another pair as a backup. After years of wearing cargo pants (not in a work environment) they were what brought me back to jeans.
Very useful guide. I would love to see a guide for Wrangler or other brands as well. I have big thighs and calves, so I'm always struggling to find something that isnt a skinny fit....
Levis suffer from other brand clothing as well with quality control issues, mainly the sizing. Best to actually go to the physical store and try them on and make sure they're the right measurements and of course factor in the shrinkage. I suppose you can do this online also if they offer free returns, just order like 20 (joking about the quantity) of the same jeans at the same time and try them all on.
I did the style survey. Apparently, I suck but with a good sense of style. At 67 I have one pair of my beloved 560 left from the old days. Good to know I can still get loose jeans even though my style sense says no more jeans.
10 years ago or so, Levis made a line specifically for Brooks Brothers, of all places. And they were excellent! They were a little more on the stylish side than what typically comes to mind when you think of Levis. They offered maybe six different styles and washes that would change somewhat from year to year, ranging from a more plain and basic look, to subtle and elegant, to a stronger, stylish statement. They were all made from a high-quality, heavy-gauge of denim. All very well constructed, and they all had a nice thick leather Levis patch on the back. For anyone in reasonably decent shape, they would flatter. They hung nicely. I bought a pair for my 81 yr old father who rode in a bike club, and they looked great on him. They weren't cheap, $150. And they were exclusive to Brooks Brothers. I still have seven pairs. Still my favorite jeans. I take care of them.
714...I’ve worn Levi’s since the mid 80’s, it used to be the shrink-to-fit 501s. Now I go for a more relaxed fit jean. It used to be that I would outgrow jeans long before I out wore them but that did change. I liked Levi’s though as I could get several years out of a pair. I think I may be done with Levi’s now. I’ve been wearing 541s for some time and 7 of the last 10 pair I bought blew out in the crotch area after only a few months. The jeans fit very comfortably, it is 100% a quality control issue. Sadly, I’ve noticed many big American brands have been having serious quality control issues over the last 5-10 years.
I think the 522's were replaced by the 512s or the 502s. I have one pair of 522s left and I feel they fit somewhere in between the current 512 and 502: slimmer than the 502 but not quite as aggressive as the 512. Would have been nice to hear more about the 512s as I know they fit a gap for many men. For guys like myself with bigger legs the 511 can fit kind strange with a slim thigh and a more straight leg. I end up with pants that look tight on the thigh and loose below the knee. The 512s fix this by giving you extra room in the seat and thigh but with more taper from the knee down. In my opinion the 512s are the same thing to the 511 as the 502s are to the 501: a tweak to a classic fit to get people that would have normally passed over it

OMG… Finally a clear way of understanding the madness of Levi’s Jeans! Levi’s should pay you for this work you’ve done here. 🙌❤️
I used to buy my Levi's Jeans at my nearby Macy's and JC Penney stores, but they've all closed. My only option (other than driving long distance) is buying on the Internet which is a roll-of-the-dice on finding the right fit for my odd-body build.
What type of body do you have. I can recomend some. Or how do you like your fits?
They sell Levi's exclusively in the military PXs but are limited to 2 or 3 styles
Me too & the 511's as well
Levi's peaked in the 90's with their quality. Not nearly as durable now but I still wear them. I miss silvertabs!
silvertabs are back now btw
508 and 514 to me, are the best jeans Levi's ever made. They fit so well, and the taper is just right.
I do the 501, 505, & 514s.
The video I have been looking for. Just want to say thank you for mentoring all of us with your RUclips videos. Not only do I have a richer understanding of men’s style but you have helped me become a better man. Thank you.
512 Levi's are brilliant and are my jeans of choice, paired with a Levi's flannel shirt.
Are they 100 % cotton? Do you feel the fabric will hold up some abuse? I need them for skateboarding what you think? I need some space between my legs to get safe landings
@@tomorrowcomestoday1621 not really built for that kind of thing maximum lifespan of this jeans is a maximum of two years.
Yes literally wearing them right now
Went shopping for Levi’s today using your recommendations, Ty.
That is all I wear. the 511 are just right. IF you want to go with a tighter taper, 512. Geat cuts.
Thanks! My husband has no caboose at all and has a hard time finding jeans that fit through the seat.
Thanks for this. These types of videos need to be a *yearly* thing, because (1) repetition of (2) the basics is key.
My mother bought me 511 and it stay with me for last 10 years and it finally ripped few days ago. Kinda sad but I really serve it purpose. Will stay with Levi forever!
Finally! I wear Levi´s only for 10 years. The quality is amazing even with the outlet versions of Levi´s Jeans. Real performance jeans !
Just dont buy them from Ross and Marshall's.
Just bought a set. I spent so long going through all the different options!
First I chose my colour (indigo dark blue), then I had to figure out which fit.
As I'm a slimmer guy, I tend towards slimmer jeans, so I narrowed it down to 3 options:
- 510 (skinny)
- 511 (slim)
- 512 (slim taper)
I tried all three on, and took photos of each in the mirror, to go home and review, and narrowed it down to the 510s and 512s.
Then I went into the store again, and tried both of these two finalists on, before settling on the 512s.
Thanks Antonio!
Could you do an ultimate buying guide for the other American classic, Wrangler?
I'll add this to my queue - thanks Jacob!
Thank you.
511s are the perfect jeans for me. I'n fact, all my jeans are only different colors of 511 Jeans. This video is very informative. Thanks for that.
@@nickunderfloorboards thanx, I mostly wear Chelsea boots, so I will probably be buying more of the 511,have you ever tried 510?
@Michael Stratton yeah I did. For me personaly they are to tight and look horrible. When I was 16 and really skinny they looked pretty okay. But after 22, when I started to go in the gym and build some muscle mass, I looked awful in 510s. To me they don't look like jeans anymore. More like leggings.
Also, in my opinion skinny jeans only look good with one look only. Converse, a T-shirt and preferably long hair. (A great look by the way)
But boots look weird in skinny jeans.
@@nickunderfloorboards thanx again, I'll stick with the 511s on that, I'm to old for that look lol
Good breakdown! I am larger guy, I wear 501 and 505s, but I think I might give the 514 a go.
My all time favourite: Levis 501 CT. Ain't nothing like a pair of 501's already tapered for you.
This is very rare. Specially the 100% cotton here in the Philippines...
Shame they discontinued those.
513s feel good on top but as the previous comment mentioned, a bit too much hang below the knee. I'll give the 512s a try on the next buy.
Same here on the 513's, but I'm 6'1", 195 lbs. There may be another style that would fit me better than these, but I cant be bothered spending the better part of a Saturday afternoon in a retail store dressing room😁
Good article. Especially the illustrations noting waist placement. As a short guy, unfortunately there are no slim fits with at-waist style
I got 501 jeans that I bought 20 years ago and still no tear and rips . I still buy more nowadays because the style doesn’t change and I’m loving it
How often do you use those 501's and for what purpose Striker
My favorite Levi's are the 541 athletic taper and I love them so much that I bought every single color of jeans they had and now I don't even waste money on any other brands.
Me 2
I scored 763. Before I switched to Wranglers out of utility, 501 is my go to for Levi. Nowadays, I get my jeans made to measure but the construction are based on Wrangler.
When It comes to Levi's jeans I love to wear 510 Skinny & Slim fit 511 these two are my fav. jeans from Levi's
Same.
Yeah what the hell. The cut is perfect wish it sat higher.
Every smart woman owns Levi’s. 501 has my heart. Thanks for the information much appreciated
Check the ladies. They usually get 31 and 33.
The Dillard's near me always has length 33 in stock. I'm probably the only person who buys them.
501 my first Levi’s thanks to Nick Kamen advertisement back in 1985 🙂. Still wearing today, coupled with the 511, great fit. Thanks! 👋
Your memory is correct!
Excellent breakdown! Helps make sense of a complex lineup, and to know which ones are best for each guy. Nicely done, Antonio.
Thank you. I have watched a few videos explaining Levis styles, which made me more confused. Yours is the best one. crystally clear.
If you’re not helpful, no one is. Thank you, Antonio!
Jeans are so hard to shop for. I’m glad you broke it down like this. It makes it so I can know which Levi’s I can rule out.
The best 501s were american (we called em Red Tags back in the day). They had straight legs, red stitching in both edges of the burst seam on the outer leg (later copied by Diesel), pocket lining as tough as the denim and fitted beautifully.
YES. A lot better than the crap Levi's stick their name on today.
How about the "Silver Tab"
@@joseplaza5246 I had a pair I bought very cheap in a sale, they didn't fit very well and had tapered legs.
40-50 bucks made in u.s. back then . 60 to 70 made in who knows where now. They feel thinner now too. No thanks on modern day Levis. Plus the are too much into woke activism. So that stops me from buying.
What is the name of that brown jacket you are wearing? It looks outstanding.
And then, as soon as you wash them they change, until you stretch them out again.
@@dk302948 Yes, it's really intricate haha. I could on forever about Levi's.
I go all cotton when I can. It seems all the jeans manufacturers are throwing in synthetic fiber. I don't like them.
The elastomer fibers will lose shape and the consumer will feel it and see it in the jeans
In the end, the consumer is getting an inferior product with a shorter product life span.
I’ve personally been liking the Slim Tapers recently. It’s a great fit for me.
Too many options is right! I have no idea anymore and I certainly can't try them on if I am buying them on the internet. And I like that jacket.
True story. I work for Levi’s and it’s a great cut to play with, with all the stretch it can do anything.
It's funny how I followed the trend over the decades. Started with 501 went to 550 during the baggy faze then to 505 for bit now back to 501s. Gonna check out the 513 & 514. So many new styles I never even knew existed.
Can you do a guide for Wrangler jeans?
Holy crap! When did buying a pair of jeans become so complicated? My freakin' head is going to explode! 🤯
This is awesome - thanks for sharing this Gary! :)
It’s starting to make sense when you explain it like you do!!! My fit and style would be something along the lines of 511, 512 or 513 👍
Fun fact here: When I was a teenager in the early 1990s and way into the second half of the 90s, the 501 was simply THE jeans to wear - nothing else would be deemed acceptable in the schoolyard. HA! ;-)
how tall are you?
@@chumstik I am 1,75. I recently stopped buying length 32 and went to length 30 now. 32 Leg length doesn't work for me anymore.

550?
Thank you for this video! I prefer to buy Levis for jeans, but I had no idea that they had such a variety of styles. I tried on some 541's and they fit SO much better than my traditional 505's!
I scored 760. The 511 are my go to.
Great much needed information. Long over due. Your right work with your body type to get the right fit.
The addition of elastane imo makes the jeans hold up longer. For me anyway the all cotton jeans wear out in the crotch quicker. Also any one remember when Levis had the orange tab on the pocket and the silver tab jeans.
Yup. They also hold the dye better so they don't fade as fast.
They also keep them from stretching out. They bounce back nicely. All cotton never fit like you bought them
My experience is the total opposite.
Got to say I was a solid levis guy until I bought a pair of American eagle flex jeans. So comfortable not thick or binding..

Thanks sir 😀. To be honest I am a loyal customer of Levi's.😁 Their jeans are functional as well as comfortable.

I managed to grab a pair of 511 in a sale one time and its probably best purchase ive made i regards to trousers and pants
if only their sizes would be consistent..been wearing 501 32w 34L for years, suddenly they are a lot bigger and I had to size down.
Barely holds my wallet yet my older 501's are capable of holding my wallet.
used to go with skinnies but tapered is more appropriate and more versatile.

512 is the best, slim and tapered; perfect with some 1’s or any high top jordans

Yo bro what happened to the design where it used to have one back pocket?
I remember these on sale in Kyoto in the Brooks Brothers store, they looked very nice but I wasn't rich enough
Levi 531’s are my favorite. But the 502s are great too
I think the 522's were replaced by the 512s or the 502s. In my opinion the 512s are the same thing to the 511 as the 502s are to the 501: a tweak to a classic fit to get people that would have normally passed over it
511's premium with the leather patch are my faves right now.
Just bought a pair of premium 511s for $22.99 with an original price of $98. They're on sale on levi's site rn
512s! I love these
They make wearing dress boots like Thursdays and Chelsea so much better.
Just bought two pair yesterday after watching. My new favorite!!
