Thanks for the video It reminded me of many secrets I’ve forgotten. I’m also a fellow Marine who learned about shirt stays in the USMC I just didn’t know where to purchase them. Do you have any style videos for us bigger guys who are over 40 but still want to look fashionable? Thanks 🙏🏾
The thumbnail made me think of probably the earliest man's-fashion advice I ever got. Pretty soon after first entering the white-collar workforce with 16: "(dress) shoes with a square front are one of the surest way to spot an intern" I'd be curious to hear your take on it.
I’ve worn a micro-adjustable belt by Anson for maybe 6 years, give or take. Still looks nearly-new. Before I got the Anson, I tried a similar belt from a street vendor. The buckle was bulky and the mechanism failed after a fairly short time.
As for the belts, I have three of the same style but different lengths to accommodate weight differences throughout the year. If you’re making an indentation on your belt then you’re wearing it too tight and too often. The collar brace reminds me of the detachable collars from the 19th and early 20th centuries; if you’ve watched Downton Abbey then you know what I’m talking about. Had the shirt stays in the Navy as well and prefer the stirrup version. I always got outstanding grades on uniform inspections especially when I would use the shirt stays to hold the military creases in on the backside like the Marines. I had a button extender also but never had to use it. The few times I’ve had to unbutton the top button, I was able to cinch the tie up that it didn’t show. I’ve used both tie bars and tie tacks and prefer the tie tacks. Between the fourth and fifth button is usually the middle of the tie, so simply taking the bottom of the tie and putting it on the edge of the bottom of the knot will give you the middle of the tie. There should bebe a worldwide ban on square toe dress shoes. I first noticed them in Europe before coming to America. They looked silly on Europeans in their skinny clothes and they look silly or worse on Americans trying to fit into skinny or regular clothes.
@@leosigman7239 I never had that problem. If you file down the point on the tie tac pin that it’s a rounded blunt, it will move the tie fibers aside instead of cutting them like a sharp point does. I done this to my collar devices, ribbon bars, and name tags also to prevent making holes in my uniform shirts.
I always prefer using both suspenders and shirt stays. Pulling in both directions gives the perfect balance. And wearing a belt with shirt stays doesn't work as well, because if your shirt comes untucked, the belt locks it in place, and the elastic isn't strong enough to pull it back down. And so your shirt will come untucked a little bit at a time. Suspenders are also more comfortable in my opinion.
Could you maybe do an episode on 1700s men's style? I think they were more of a feast for the eyes back then! They had more colour, and patterns! My opinion might not be the best one, but I do like their style! And I think they would make an interesting topic!
The micro-adjusting ratchet belts are one of the best things anyone (not just men) can obtain for themselves. Believe me, it’s a profoundly worthy investment.
To be honest, I expected this video to be more about REAL "style secrets". These are all practical and utilitarian things, but they don't really make you more stylish. It's more like looking for problems or minor inconveniences you can buy a product as a solution for.
Why is it so hard to find beige undershirts? I'm outside US but even on Amazon the selections are very few and the mediums are always sold out. Same for American websites of businesses which supposedly manufacture undershirts. Majority of so called undershirts available are white or tanks (ie. Useless!!) If beige undershirts are such a staple product, why is it so hard to buy? Where do people buy from? It feels like some rare specialty item which is always sold out or not supplied
I’ve tried most of the things promoted. They are all junk, which were a waste of money and I ended up throwing away. The only one I haven’t tried is the belt but since I wear braces I don’t wear a belt.
Brown shoes with a dark suit look like crap! No matter how well made or polished. An undershirt is an essential. We constantly see supposedly well dressed men such as James Bond in films not wearing an undershirt with a tuxedo. Yes, trouser fly, shirt seam, and belt should align. SF

Tell me more about this rounded v-neck undershirt! Who makes it?
There are also stirrup shirt stays that I have found are much more effective than the ones that connect to the top of your socks.

At 58, I must say shoe grips are a lifesaver
Excellent recommendations Antonio! I use every single one of them except shirt stays lol…
Like you, I learned about shirt stays while in the Marine Corps and use them to this day! Semper Fi!

In my experience, tie tacks don’t take long to make a hole in the tie. I can’t always get tie tack into the same hole, so I need to replace the tie.

Funny you mention shoe grips. I was just in the market for them. Any recommendations on some good ones?
I love the 80/20 rules. I see it in many ways 😊 Great message with your vidio 🙏
Since switching from a belt to suspenders, I've ever have a problem with my shirt coming untucked

My belt also keeps my S&W 642 in place tho.
You talk about having been in the military, what about the web belt? It is virtually infinitely adjustable.
Love shoe grips. Not so much the tie bar.

What about Tie Chains?
Great video! I’m 6 for 6!
I'm applying everything I'm learning from RUclips God's
Ruh-roh: Proff ain't gonna like the undershirt part 🤫
I wanna invest in quality
what advice do you have for shoe buying for someone size 7? every store I have gone to does not have size 7 for adults.
It's a disaster. I'm a size 6. It's hit and miss no matter where you go.

Shoe grips are garbage, try a few different ones and they come off the first use and leave a nasty nasty mess of glue.
I’ve tried most of the things promoted. They are all junk, which were a waste of money and I ended up throwing away. The only one I haven’t tried is the belt but since I wear braces I don’t wear a belt.
I'd rather re-tuck the shirt than wear those stays!
"If you don't know this you're not stylish." Is that what the title implies?
No. It "implies" exactly what it says. "If you don't know this, you are not THE MOST stylish.
Your collar thing would be okay if one couldn't see it. Imagine what it would look like if you weren't wearing a white shirt while modeling it.
@@NOXStellans the slick collar?
Those "shoe grips" look awful. Why not just get topys?
pointy shoes hurt.
