      @Daniel C I do integrate sponsors, just on a less frequent basis than you might be used to from other channels. I typically do 1 sponsored video per month (sometimes 0, sometimes 2). The reasoning behind this is:
      1. I think it allows for a better viewing experience
      2. It allows me to be highly selective with the brands I work with, and truly only work with brands I align with

    1 point to note. Always do a first wash before hemming your pants, especially denims as they have elastin mixture. Coz if you hem them before washing they’ll become shorter than you ideally want them.

    • @nolankuffner3573
      @nolankuffner3573 Месяц назад

      The more elastane, the less this is actually an issue.
      The component that ACTUALLY shrinks is cotton, particularly is if jeans weren't pretreated, prewashed, or (as raw enthusiasts will tell you) pre-set.
      Cotton is notorious for shrinkage, which is why most fabric comes prewashed or pretreated. Hanging items to dry would prevent most shrinkage, as 90% of what I've seen comes from washing, followed by immediately throwing it into the dryer.

    This is super subjective, but the full break will look and feel best for most, especially when sitting, and is more suitable for nearly any type of shoe. When pants are too short, they look dorky and will lift up too high when your knees bend. You can't say something is wrong just because you don't personally feel like it's right. Same vice versa. I personally think the extra length looks and feels much better regardless of the type of pants to be frank. This seems to be the general consensus for most guys that don't wear tight pants. 😅 Why a man would want to show off his ankles is beyond me lol. You do you.

    My opinion of pant length is that it is decided from the whole outfit. Actually for some outfits a big bulge around the ankle ties it all together, while another outfit calls for pants end a couple of inches above the ankle.
    The shoes is more important in the question than the type of pant if u ask me. If wearing any kind of boot-like footwear my opinion is that the pant should end above it… no break at all… not even touching the boot.
    But if u instead wear a sneaker or sport type shoe and maybe some cargo-like pants a very extreme break can elevate the entire thing…
    But it is always different for every case

    This is such a helpful guide! I’m just starting to wear “men’s” clothing and tailoring my pants myself since I’m 5’2”. Coming from “women’s” clothing I had never heard of a break.

    Can’t go wrong with Common Project white sneakers, Koio, Oliver Cabell like he is wearing, Greats or the best bang for your buck, Thursday sneakers. All those White Leather sneakers are great quality and will look good with everything.

    Nice info man. I also believe the length of the pants in an outfit and the kinds of shoes you wear needs to be right on point. For example, I personally like to wear boots (midcut) and cargos with a full break in them, that's just me. Also, the half break jeans with the white sneaks look really dope. Will try. ✌️

    I noticed majority of white sneakers in the market have heavy soles and it’s super tiring to wear them for long hours. Cheap brands, affordable brands, expensive brands, whatever…..

    Hello. Can u please tell me your opinion on this: I have bought white,.
    very fine, smooth jeans pants (Hacket London) and shortened them on the size of no brake like u have showed on your chinos. I am not sure is that good now. Looks a bit short. Wanted it like this so the shoes (loafers or other classy shoes) can be seen. Wear it with the Suit jacket also or just with the shirt or T-shirt.
    Cheers

    The problem i find with no break formal pants is that they rise up very high when you sit down

    • @TimDessaint
      @TimDessaint  4 года назад +2

      Why does that bother you though? It's quite normal for pants to rise up as you sit down. If you're wearing socks and your skin is showing, your socks might not be long enough though (unless they're no-show obviously).

    I remember the 90s when it was cool to drag your baggy-ass jeans on the concrete and distressing them that way, along with all the dirt and grime that gets picked up along the way. Glad I never did that, but was a XXL tshirt type of student back then (when I am actually a S/M tshirt size). good times!

    When you get your jeans shortened, do you get them to keep the original hem or make a new one? If you get them to make a new hem, can they make it look original or does that depend on the skill of the tailor?

    • @misterpister
      @misterpister 3 года назад +2

      A super late response… but for those wondering… your tailor should be able to do a ‘Euro’ hem, where the pant leg is shortened but the original hem is retained. My tailor offers two different Euro hems. One where the original fabric is folded up (on the inside) and visible if you were to roll up your pant leg… and the other where the result isn’t noticeable.

    Typically, I measure jeans and dress pants to two different lengths:
    Jeans, to the floor while on minus an inch. While denim tends to stretch, typically made denim is less flexible than athletic pants, i.e.
    Dress pants, resting on the shoe. Dress pants are (typically) a more constricting fabric. And despite having SOME stretch, aren't constructed to give a wide range of movement should they fit close to the body.
    In this case, keeping the pants at a length where they can't touch the ground and only expose one's sock (or foot) slightly while not in motion.
    Elsewise, your pants aren't falling into either category.
    Those pants are athletic, casual dress, a form of chino, or a short.
    This might be an EXTREMELY unpopular opinion, but no man should ever wear a capri pant.
    If you're wearing your pants longer than an 18 inch inseam (without being quite short) but MORE than 4 inches about your foot.. burn those pants.

  • @strawberryyogurt0

    Definitely your opinion (that’s obvious). Your chino example for no break, slight break or no break looks terrible. Then add on the rolled up cuff, and to me it looks like a disaster. I had 5 pairs of Lacoste joggers (same exact pair) and sold them after a few months because they basically mirrored the length of your video example - way too short, could afford an extra 1 inch at least. Then your jeans example, if that were me, your recommended example would be way too short. Then your example of cropped trousers have way too big of an opening,

    Good video, the only problem with me is that I’m short and most manufactures or brands don’t make short chino pants or jeans. I’m lucky if I find levis with a length of 29 or 30. Jeans it’s not worth it taking them to a tailor unless you take them to a expensive tailor and spend lots of $$$.
