Hat is off British Pathé , Thank you for this!
As I've mentioned before, my tribal team is Hearts but I've always admired Celtic, playing 'thinking' football under Jock Stein. I was in Canada with the army when this final was played. Every time such recordings are shown, I still marvel at the Celtic triumph that day.
great quality, thank you from a life long celt
In his Book Ray Davies recalls putting together "Waterloo Sunset" whilst watching this game on telly.
The song was released a month before the final
And it was about Waterloo in London.
This footage is absolutely brilliant. Thanks, British Pathé.

2:30 wasn't the winning goal, that was an effort that hit the side netting! they didn't show the actual goal.
+McCann82 Agreed. Chalmer's grabbed Murdoch's pass/attempt and we Scots and Irish grabbed an honest victory over Englands' robbery the year before : )
My boys took me there this year what a experience walking out the Tunnel onto the pitch knowing your following the footsteps of the Greatest moment in celtics History
The greatest achievement by any club side never to be repeated LONG LIVE THE LIONS OF LISBON PIONEERS OF THE BEURIFUL GAME
I'm English but I was very happy for the Scottish heroes. (The Owls have Barry Bannan!) I'm 68 years old, and felt preveledged to see it on TV. I know the Scottish don't always like the English, but as long as you don't play England I'll support any Scottish team, even R*****s. 🙂
Simp.
We really all don't hate the English, Just some idiots.
Every English person I've ever met have been lovely.
Thanks for this.

Was the whole of the UK cheering Celtic on?
I'd genuinely like to know from people who were about at the time.
I'm Italian and a Juve fan...at that time i was 10 y.o. . Inter lost vs. Celtic and three days later they lost vs.Mantua in the last Serie A match and Juve, beating Lazio, won its 13th Italian Scudetto ( Championship)...Unforgettable week for Celtic and Juve fans!!!
Tutto vero ....per me ancora più indimenticabile perché sono tifoso del Mantova e della Juve ed ero un ragazzino
Watched. Liked. Thanks. Baku city
Best club in Scotland 🏴🏴🇮🇪🇮🇪🟩🟩⬜️⬜️
If god supported a football team it would be Celtic
Quality of picture great. Great result. I often wonder why this team didn't win more in Europe as this was basically Jock Stein's first year in charge and they monopolised the Scottish title for the next ten years.
The guy doing the voice over who seemed to be a staple of all Pathe sporting reels was annoying. So smug and complacent.

All born within walking distance to Celtic park. Except for Bobby. He was a foreigner! Lennox that is, not Murdoch. My mum and dad dumped me with Auntie Susan so they could go to paradise. I was 2 months old!
You’re saying “foreigner” metaphorically right? Because Lennox is from Rutherglen

Still better than souless toilet bowl modern trash like the Emirates, Tottenham Stadium, Etihad and the new Madrid renovation. Parks are better than souless toilet bowls.
@@Phil_Mitchell They knew Celtic wouldn't attract a big crowd so they chose a tiny stadium for the final.
