“Within 30 Miles of Celtic Park”: Remembering Celtic’s Lisbon Lions’ European Cup Triumph
In 1967, Celtic FC shocked the world as they became the first British team to make the European Cup final, and in doing so, the first British team to win the European Cup (Champions League). This historic achievement was made all the more impressive when you account for the fact that every single player on that squad was born within 30 miles of Celtic Park (Parkhead). A truly local team. A team of Glaswegians on top of the football world. This video remembers Jock Stein, Celtic, and the Lisbon Lions.

It shows just how incredible they were over the course of the season competing in 5 competitions in one of the best leagues in Europe.

It's like Andorra or something (or some 30 mile country) winning the Euros 😂. Its maybe even more incredible than that because Celtic's competitors were assembled from the best all over the world. Don't understand it at all but its by far the most mind blowing achievement in football in my opinion.
As much as I still love it, it does put football in the modern day into perspective. Multimillion pound businesses doing what they should, when they win a trophy.
The players should represent the supporters and in the case of the '67 final the players were just supporters.

I often see him at the local post office etc. I have chatted to him a few times,he's a very amiable, and approachable gentleman. Fun fact. Win Jansen was on the Feyenoord team that beat Celtic in the 1970 cup final, he later managed Celtic in 1997/98. Wim Jansen also coached Feyenoord in the 90s before joining Celtic and brought Henrik Larsson to both teams.
