The Code - Pirate Krait MKII vs. PvP FDL - 1v1

  • Опубликовано: 9 июл 2018
  • This PvP Prismatic FDL CMDR interdicted me at the rare trading CG in my Pirate outfit Krait MKII.
    When I'm running the PvP build, it's usually 5A Prismatics with two 6A SCBs.
    However, in the Pirate build, I need to make room for a Size 5 cargo slot, so I run the 6A Prismatics with only one 6A SCB.
    That's what I was running here, and I was at a distinct disadvantage. Not to mention I started a full ring of shields down.
    However, let this be a lesson. Never assume anything in emergent PvP. If it makes sense to do so, stay in the fight. You just might win.
    Also, if your tactics and flying aren't working, change it up. Do something unpredictable. Fight on your own terms, not on somebody else's.
    And finally, when the advantage tips your way, go for the jugular, because if you don't, the other guy will.

    • @jdubs2171
      @jdubs2171 5 лет назад

      @@FullMetalFox2 Well theyre 7 out of around 40 in my fleet (Playing since around release). On the olde Eng sys, it was hard to pass on good rolls when they werent exactly what was needed, atm. So sometimes bought new FDLs to store Eng modules and to manifest wep loadout ideas I had been sitting on. Past that, I dont care for the module swapping. I build and Eng them tight, so I can just pull them over and fly.
      And bored? Not a chance! FDL is the most fun ship in the game, imho.

    • @FullMetalFox2
      @FullMetalFox2 5 лет назад +1

      @@jdubs2171 Okay i never got that deep into engineering before the new system, i just dont have to time to spend on it due to RL. So for me its always been switching stuff, the only ship ive ever hat 2 off was the Krait Mk2, one for PvE one for Exploration, but one of them has also been replaced with a Conda.
      I hate the FDL to be honest. I did own one fitted for PvP, later for PvE, and it just feelt wrong how i could just wipe the floor with Cmdrs i usually had fun duels with, or how easy it was using it for bounty hunting. And well since i now know that its the prevered meta of the PvP crowd due to its nearly "perfect" combination of stats, i dont need to wonder why. Aside that i dont really like its design and Cockpit.
      So my FDL got sold and i propably will refuse to touch it again unles it either gets nerfed or other ships buffed, anything to break the monotony of fighting meta fitted FDLs/FASs all the time.
      Until then ill have some fun with my Krait and Chieftain, and some oddball Duels with other Cmdrs who dont fly Meta Fittings.

    • @jdubs2171
      @jdubs2171 5 лет назад

      @@FullMetalFox2 Yeah, I can feel most of that. The Mamba and other med combat focused ships are def imperative for better balancing. Tho the chief is def a great counter. Basically Vulture 2.0. I would argue against the FDL being gamebreaking tho. I honestly didnt care much for it before Palin.
      I dont blame you for not Eng much on the old Eng sys. Literally took about 3-4 months (avg 100-300hrs) to Eng a ship from scratch to acceptable. Many more if you were insistent upon God-Rolls. Hell, when the Engs first came out, alot of people got trapped in Gather-Condas bc on top of the mats you also needed rare commodities for the Engs!
      I wont deny that Ive put a ton of time into this game, esp on the old Eng sys. Beats being at work tho. Lol. I really love having as many purpose-built ships, esp the combat ones.
      On the PvP metas, yeah the FDL is formidable, not inconquerable, tho. It mostly has to do with the pilot. Ive seen 1v1s, Viper vs FDL, where the Viper mops the floor. No absolutes in this galaxy. The Chief is the very best counter to the FDL, atm, imo.
      Conda is an excellent choice for anything! Thats my most used ship. Krait M2 is nice as well. I feel like the Krait is the compromise between the FGS and the FAS. With a better armor rating, it could hold its own as well as the FAS in intractable engagements.

    o7 Commander. Huge respect for the HOTAS FA/Off Fixed. I too have traveled down this path and I cant recommend it enough-- it really is satisfying to see it all come together. I dont use curves either, but they could be useful for those long range rail shots (I'm just too lazy to set them up). In any case, from one pirate to another, great vid.

      @CMDRFlyAuburn  6 лет назад +4

      MesaFalcon yeah I think curves might help once you are on target. The PIO I mentioned is a real aviation term, especially in the military, and that’s what’s going on there. There is just too much sensitivity in the lower movement range while FAOff. That’s why all the PvP lords went KBM/Relative Mouse and called themselves “Gud”. I don’t like it though. Yes it’s more precise, but I’m a sim purist, and have had a HOTAS for 15 years. If I wanted to play Freelancer I’d go play that, but I want the full experience in Elite Dangerous, even if it’s more difficult! And thanks!

    Damn. Crazy to think the leader of the code cant fly fa off. Dont get me wrong I cant either. On could say im actually still kinda new to pvp. Its just kinda cool to see that you dont have to be a PERFECT pilot to hold your own in a fight

    • @CMDRFlyAuburn
      @CMDRFlyAuburn  5 лет назад +2

      Greg Specht FAOff is incorrectly thought to be the “end all be all” of PvP. It is not. It has its place, and not very often but at least a few times in this video you’ll see that I DO use it. It just doesn’t make sense in all situations. Some of the best PvPers I’ve ever seen are FAOn primarily and FAOff strictly as needed (togglers), as I am. Sometimes you want the ship to go EXACTLY where you point it when you point it there, and FAOff doesn’t always lend itself well to that. However if you’re being focused by fixed weapon fire and need to make your opponent miss, its excellent and I do use it for that and it works well. The moral of the story: use both, and use them appropriately.

    • @gregspecht481
      @gregspecht481 5 лет назад

      @@CMDRFlyAuburn yea personally im a toggler as well. If i have to turn my ship more than 45° to get the angle I want ill toggle for it. I also use fa off as kind of a high gear for my laterals because of the acceleration and cap differences. But what I meant is that I think its pretty safe to say that flying purely fa off all the time is definitely harder, at least for most people. Reminds me of a funny drinking game I heard of. Listen to the interstellar soundtrack while playing and every time "No time for caution" comes on, take three shots of vodka and turn of flight assist and rotational correction for the next two times you dock

    • @CMDRFlyAuburn
      @CMDRFlyAuburn  5 лет назад

      Greg Specht oh it IS harder, but that doesn’t make it the right choice of all of the time. Also I’ve stubbornly refused to use ‘curves’ for my X52, which would probably instantly make it much easier.

    • @gregspecht481
      @gregspecht481 5 лет назад

      @@CMDRFlyAuburn yea i didnt know curves could actually be useful. I always thought it was some silly shit that like 0.01% of people used, like mouse acceleration and that kind of thing.

    • @CMDRFlyAuburn
      @CMDRFlyAuburn  3 года назад +1

      Olympus Mons ramming has been part of combat and PvP since Day 1. When in a fight, any fight, you use any means necessary to win. If your opponent fails to be imaginative enough to see what’s coming, they stand to lose. This isn’t a gentleman’s game of chess. It’s a fight to the death. You must be Brititsh. Only the Brits think about warfare as some turn based gentleman’s strategy game.
