  • It is said all incidents are preventable. Having proper sleep is one way we can prevent incidents.
This Safety Minute looks at fatigue as a contributing factor to workplace incidents. Improper sleep contributes to a 1.62 times increased risk of having an incident and contributes to 13% of all workplace incidents. With such high statistics on fatigue related incidents, it makes complete sense to take a minute and recognize this.
Not only does improper sleep increase the likelihood of an incident, it also has major effects on our health. It can cause conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, obesity and more.
Improper sleep though happens for many reasons, from diseases and disorders to stress, exertion and pain. The good news is improper sleep, no matter the cause, can be treated and improved. By doing so we are more focused, decrease incidents and improve our overall health.
    In short, sleep matters.
