"The sound of crying is #1 across the world" is hilarious and brilliant in light of the 80s trend of making songs like "Do They Know It's Christmastime," but also just an absolute gut-punch. Absolutely one of their best songs. Paddy is on another level here. "Who am I to tell you how to run your business/ when you can strike me blind??"

Para mí, sin lugar a dudas
Cada vez que escucho esta canción, no me cabe la menor duda,Paddy Macloon,no es de este planeta y Wendy Smith,es de algún rincón de Andromeda, y "los sonidos del llanto", es una obra poética-musical,llegada de alguna galaxia lejana....
Fue su primer nro 1 en Reino Unido en el ya lejano 1992...y sigue tan vigente ayer como hoy. Tiene una mezcla de sonido y ritmo enigmatico y adictivo a la vez. Es muy hermosa. Paddy un genio, Wendy bella poniendole su voz y su inconfundible encanto femenino a Prefab Sprout. A pesar de ello la prensa britanica fue siempre muy dura con ella, casi al nivel de la crueldad. Siempre dejandola como la rubia tonta del grupo. Y lo cierto es que Wendy evoluciono desde los coros y al final tocaba varios instrumentos como teclados y segunda guitarra. En Golden Calf, Wendy se luce con la guitarra o en Scarlet Nights hace un estribillo sola. Hoy es productora de artistas y cumplio el sueño x el que dejo el grupo siendo madre de dos jovenes x estos dias ya.

I don't get why more folks aren't hip to Paddy. The guy writes some incredible lyrics. That new one "America" has me grasping for superlatives again. Just put your songs out there, Mr. MacAloon. Your fans will find them, and we'll find a way to let you know we're grateful.

I was never huge on this genre in the 80's but why is it I never heard of these guys until 2023? They were good enough to where even if you don't like the genre you should've heard about these cats. I mean, I know a lot about music ..... heavy metal, rock, jam, jazz, rap, country, alternative -- you name it -- but I never heard a thing about Prefab Sprout. Bad promoters or did they just not catch on? I see there are some followers/big fans though looking at the comments and the likes.
