  • Can you help our robbery squad identify two men and a woman, who we want to speak to in connection with a city centre robbery?
The offence happened in the Market Place, and saw a 19-year-old student dragged to the floor when a thief tried to grab her handbag from her shoulder.
Two of the victim’s friends intervened but the three offenders managed to get away with the bag and ran off towards Victoria Street.
The victim, who is a university student and new to the city, was not seriously hurt but was left shaken by the robbery, which happened on the evening of September 10.
We’re now releasing CCTV footage of three people we want to speak to in connection with it.
Do you recognise any of the three people shown in the footage?
We know the video and stills aren’t the best quality, but it’s possible someone might recognise them from their clothing.
DC Tim Phillips, who is leading the investigation, said: “The victim in this matter has recently moved to Derby to go to university and this was her first night out in the city centre.
“To then be subject of a street robbery, which she would not have been able to predict, must have been a frightening and unpleasant experience.
“Fortunately she did not receive any serious injuries. I am appealing for any person that witnessed the incident take place or anyone who can identify the persons from the CCTV images to get in touch with me as soon as possible.”
Witnesses or anyone with information should call Tim on 101, quoting reference 17000389038.
Alternatively, send him a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website www.derbyshire.police.uk/Contact-Us.
You can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
