He went from club doorman to club owner in a very short time, and in his later years never got his hands dirty it was all done for him, which is why he never got done for anything.

I came across both Dave Campbell and John Fury just before the Millennium. I worked for a car trader in Wigan and had to deal with both. Dave Campbell was a huge guy and I never heard anything bad about him. I had an issue only once with John Fury (and his antourage), I'd used the term Pokey and was pulled up on it. I was offered out by someone with John Fury. I refused and took a bit of verbal instead. John Fury was a good guy to do business with. I think he's living on a reputation from his boxing career.

But was offered a small amount as a sweetener, so it's highly likely that could of happened because Campbell wouldn't want to upset Peter fury by trying to put a contract out on his brother , , I'd love to hear peter furys take on the said stories , but like enquirer said he is not going to talk out of school about his brother , be it true or false, win or lose ,

I sort of imagine the relationship between John and Peter was a bit like the Shelby's from Peaky Blinders. John is the older, harder and crazier one, but is pretty stupid , reckless and more of a liability (like Arthur) Peter is the younger brother but can still very much handle himself along with being the smart one ultimately putting him in charge (like Tommy)

I came across both Dave Campbell and John Fury just before the Millennium. I worked for a car trader in Wigan and had to deal with both. Dave Campbell was a huge guy and I never heard anything bad about him. I had an issue only once with John Fury (and his antourage), I'd used the term Pokey and was pulled up on it. I was offered out by someone with John Fury. I refused and took a bit of verbal instead. John Fury was a good guy to do business with.
I think he's living on a reputation from his boxing career.

"ANYONES" to win or lose, i once had a fight in car park at back of forresters arms in Burnley where cash machine is at spar and after a few punches each we did the wrestling thing and he had me in a headlock so i tried to pick him up to go backwards and get him off as headlock was locked in tight and was a deal breaker,anyway i went backwards and he let go and thats all i remember till i come to with a pal breaking it up and ide knocked myself out in the fall backwards on bottom of a bollard! There were two Dave Campbells as far as I remember. Both were big guys. The Dave C we are talking about is the Bury cat dealer. Yet there was another DC from down south who was bigger. A huge guy that had a pal that had hair from a 1980's pop band. Together they dealt cars and drugs.
There were scarier people in my opinion. Big Greg from Wigan was almost seven foot tall. Yet Dennis P from Hindley put him in a headlock and Greg almost shit himself. I was Dennis Ps right hand man for a short while. We met loads of villains back then.
The worst for me was a guy called Billy Webb. He used smackheads and guns to settle scores. He was eventually murdered in a flat my company had lent him. The day before I commented on his knobly knees and got a death threat for it. He wasn't hard but he was properly mean.

Ok, here's my thought's..
The problem with John is, he's rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way.. His boasting he will fight anyone, then refusing, offering Mike T on, even though we know it will never happen, and his outrageous, acting on tv and around fights , that his son/son's are preparing for.
Pushing this to one side, however. No matter what people think, John was a hard man, maybe not as hard as he may like to think, but hard all the same. His losses in the the ring was against good fighters, Im sure Akiwanda became British champion and he was a contender for a world title, to lose against that calibre is no shame, I would wager my wages that no one.on here has got to that standard.
It wasn't too long ago, that John was liked on the net, his mouth and antics have changed peoples minds.
I love the fact the police spent the time to have plain clothes officers at the meeting while also having a helicopter circle overhead....

I do thaiboxing I'm not a proper fighter but have had some fights I'm more a fan but I've trained with some real fighters , in thaiboxing they fight anyone, anywhere, anytime it's not about money .
Joe Egan and Micky Theo are claiming to be fighting men and want to fight John but John fury is relevant at the moment and they are not so it comes across as just wanting a big payday .
Maybe Micky and Joe should fight each other and make them selfs more relevant and then call john fury out .
As this type of boxing is ruining the competitive sport of boxing, it's more like the xfactor than boxing . Basically no one cares if you've sparred mike Tyson or your a hard doorman we want to see people working up the ranks putting on good fights that are worth watching .I've sparred lumpini thaiboxers that have had over 300 fights and I'm still a nobody in the fight game but if you offered me a big payday I'd fight anybody.
