It's amazing how Dr. Stanley didn't let circumstances deter him from his dreams in life. He just kept pushing, applying himself and working hard. L 0:02 ook where it got him. I guess it shows you get out of life what you put into it. Dr.Stanley seemed like a man you could just sit and listen to for hours. I love that his grandson said how humble Dr. Stanley was, that he never forgot where he came from and that he was a faithful man. What a legacy and impact along with his music he left to his family and fans that they can still speak highly of him today. You can feel this along with the warmth and emotion in Dr. Stanley's voice as he spoke. What a great legend and legacy. Great video! Keep them coming.
What a voice!! I love this music! And really enjoyed listening to him tell his story. It’s really refreshing to see how different his path and morals seemed to be in contrast to most of your other big time musicians.
There's quite a difference between his life in music and the paths that are taken by many musical artists today. I'm happy that such a man of faith, humility, and gratitude is so revered by so many. I'd never heard of Dr. Ralph Stanley until I found this channel, and that is my loss. I don't know how to describe the reaction I have to the emotion he conveyed in the performance at the Grammy Awards, but it is a very deep one; not primordial in the usual sense, and not "spiritual" exactly, either. Memorable, however, it is. Thank you for sharing this.
What an amazing comment, for which we are grateful! If you are unfamiliar with Dr Ralph Stanley's music, be sure to check out the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou", wherein Dr Stanley's music is not only a centerpiece of the soundtrack, but he makes an appearance singing in the movie as well!
I met him and his son at a hotel in Norton Virginia. I was there working. He signed my banjo. I never met his grandson. What I remember most about meeting him is I couldn't believe how small of a man he was.
We LOVE hearing from you in the comments, let us know if you have a story to tell or know someone who does!
Thanks for sharing 👍
You're welcome!
