Living with Mountain Music | A Conversation with Nathan Stanley
Hi Liz! Good to see you!
I could sit and listen to him for hours
I am half Seaborne all my people came from the mountains
😂❤❤
I have a copy of this ad flyer with several signatures including the man himself . Any idea who to ask its value? It a great shape
I just love this guy‘s voice. I’ve been watching him and enjoying him for ages online it’s time he is ready. He’s been ready….. I know if I see him advertised. I’m going .. Without a doubt ..❤
Hey Alan the little red headed girl down the street Connie Spears, Shirley Spears daughter, Lovell family and Mamaw and Papaw Phipps, old neighbors on Railroad Ave. Thanks for the basketball and music I heard over the years growing up! My husband has played for a lot of famous people over the years. We live in the Austin, TX area now. I love this. Everything you said is true and humble. Talked to Ron Short years ago and he was so inciteful about the biz . I keep up with BSG and asked Shug Hall if that was your son and he raved about him. Next time I visit we will see him perform. All those folks at your studio I did not know they were famous until I grew up. Very cool.. Take care.
That’s awesome Jay!
6:53 Would love to listen to the early masters they donated. Hope they will become available online one day.
You forgot to mention North Carolina when you mentioned the hole in country music. lol
This was fascinating Marian!! You did a lovely job on this!!! Very eye opening, i learned alot!!❤
This is a great man. Love his style of music. Keep up the great work.
My dad played on several albums out of that studio.

He should of been on of the24 American Idols 2024. He will make it to the top without American Idol.
Good job, Tanner. The pieces look beautiful
Fantastic. Tanner is a unique old-world sort of artisan. It's rare to find someone with this commitment to craftsmanship. I am honored to know him and I'm proud of his work at Appa Bagworks. It's terrific seeing and hearing Tanner's story.
The sincere and genuine heart of a true craftsman is so evident in the folks you feature. It's just heartwarming to see the old ways carried on. 😊👍
I find it very endearing how many of these craftspeople speak of honoring the raw materials from which they create products. This reminds me of documentary programs and other shows I have seen in which a hunter says a brief prayer of thanks to the animal for giving its life so that the hunter and family may continue theirs. Respect. :)
the lore about the farmer throwing the wagon man into the hole is about my ancestor...
Oh really, wow!
You might have upset a few Scottish people 🏴
What a cool lady. She just exudes joy and passion for the art in her speaking. It's truly heartwarming to see a husband and wife so bonded and unified in a shared vision and way of life. Very inspiring. Thanks Josh 😊👍. 🥰♥️
We love hearing from you in the comments!
Great job as usual. Liked the subtle introduction of the background oriental instrumental music when he was discussing his appreciation for the Japanese artisans. His remarks about passion and satisfaction derived from doing something one loves and the remarkable way things just seem to appear that affirm the decision to pursue it reminds me a lot of the recent conversations we've had about your own journey!
You make us proud. Stay true to you and reach for the heavens. Blessings.
Joshua you never disappoint. This was surely another great storyteller. As he talks, you can tell the love, passion, pride and enjoyment he has in his work. Yes there are many beautiful manufactured products out there, but there is nothing like something made by hand. As he said, it does give off a different energy. You can tell he has learned more than just making beautiful art with these pieces. He has learned alot about himself, others and life and that makes the love that carries through into his work. I love his reasons and his concept of why he does what he does. Nothing like working with your hands and seeing the finished product at the end. Joshua I really enjoy the storyteller videos you do. You also have an art that shows through in all your videos. You may have a different product here, but your videos have that love and energy as well. You can tell that by the outcome of your videos, because they are so well put together with much care, time, love, energy and thought. Your heart also shows the level of care for the person(s) in these videos. Another great storyteller! Keep them coming!
Thanks for all the feedback, really REALLY appreciate it ☺
High quality. Good video - glad youtube recommended it
Really appreciate that!
A very wise man indeed. I have believed throughout my adult life that anything worth doing is worth doing with your whole heart and soul and love. What you create reflects on who you are, your inner character. So to present your work is to present yourself, no matter what it is. Josh, your heart and passion for what you do are plainly evident in your videos. It's a joy to see it in you, and in those whom you feature. As always, well done!! Take care!! 🥰♥️
☺Thank you kindly for continuing to watch the work!
What a fascinating interview and presentation! I really noted and enjoyed the variety of camera angles, shots, and distances used. Seeing the "confetti" actually being created in the process, seeing the cut on his finger that was healing, panning around the shop for unique shots that enhanced this gentleman's work - all of these added so much to his descriptions and musings about what he does and what he has learned. I may be naive in saying this, but he shares what I have seen and heard from successful and happy people in various walks of life - he both enjoys the work and knows himself very well, applying all of who he is to the task at hand. I have a collection of wood chess sets, and I will attest to the difference in "feel" of one that has been made with the love and care he describes versus something that may appear "perfect" but lacks personality and "life", if that makes sense - like champagne that has gone flat.
Precisely!...apt description- "like champagne that has gone flat."
I man that know himself A man that is no from this world so beautiful
Wish you all the best Noah 👍 Nice interview man👌
Watched for about the 5th time. Such a joy seeing someone who totally enjoys what they are doing! Thank you!!
Thank you for Sharing Noah. Wish we were closer, Thankfully we have RUclips, Barber, Greg
Thanks so much for this fine video. I really enjoyed the anecdotes and history - the insights locked away in this gentleman's mind! It made me wonder if I ought to create a video or audio recording just as a keepsake for those who follow me. I haven't lived a noteworthy or fascinating life, but the lesson from these "storytellers" is that the lives of all people are intriguing and edifying.
You absolutely should do that!
I thoroughly enjoyed this storyteller. He surely was rich in family history. He is blessed to have so much remarkable history to share. Sounds like he surely lived and interesting and full life and still does. This is a treasured keepsake video for him and his family. Another great storyteller! Keep them coming!
What an amazing life he has led. This was a great video, thank you for sharing.
Love hearing from everyone in the comments!
My goodness, what a colorful story!! That man has lived 9 lives and still chuggin' along. And what a memory. Just goes to show you that the deepest of roots will survive and carry on. Take care Josh. 🥰
Much like the best vineyards! Thanks for watching :)
So cool
This is an amazing video!!! So awesome! He seems like such a cool guy!
How awesome is this! It is amazing that this art which was in his family still carries on today. Quality is something that is real hard to find today. You pay the price but overall still get an inferior quality. I've heard it said, if you want quality it takes time but if you want junk you can get it fast. It goes something like that. Maybe not exactly, but I think it still makes the point. He is doing a great job! For him to carry on this legacy, it is good to see he had a heart for his grandmother, a heart for true craftsmanship and for people. Hope you and your business will be blessed for many more years to come! Joshua thanks for sharing. Be blessed and keep the videos coming!
What an inspiring story! We need a lot more of this, getting back to good old fashioned values and manufacturing with heart
What an interesting and enjoyable video! I find the approach he describes to involve the customer so thoroughly in the process to fulfill the idea of relationship-building he alludes to. That's awesome. I've never had an article of clothing be custom made for me - sounds like something very special indeed. And his grandmother's advice, "take your time", is solid gold! Thanks for sharing this!!
Steve is a gem! He's a true artist, craftsman, and keeper of old traditions. Meeting him was a delight. This piece is a beautiful reflection of this man's heart, passion, and skill. He is just as genuine in person.
