Seriously who could unlike this video. Dude going out of his way for his kids and providing in my opinion the best loft build video on RUclips. Great video
Fantastic idea. We've been looking to give the kids more rm in their bedrms. Our daughter plays piano and likes to practice on the keyboard. Underneath is the perfect place. Our son plays drums and needs space for his electronic drums. And we (parents) enjoy the peacefulness and space in our livnrm. I bow to thee!!
Alex I completely enjoyed your detail explanations. For the novice like myself it is very necessary to have a step by step guide. Thid is one of the best how to videos on RUclips
Great job here sir uve given me alot of ideals as Im making lofts for my 2 lil girls and my boys room...also u seem like a great dad Im a single dad so I love seeing a parent take time to do projects like this for their kids theyre only small for a lil time.....WELL DONE DAD!!!
First off, great video, very detailed that any ordinary person can learn from watching. Keep up the good work and create more videos. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Sheila Boughey! Thank you very much!! That is awesome that you say That! Very much appreciated! Those kids are my life and they really enjoyed all the hard work put into it! Thanks again for the awesome comment!!
Thanks you brother, this is exactly what I wanted to do in my my house, one for loft bed and another for a loft area above my entry door. Thank you, I learned a lot.
Bravo on the simplicity and explaining the tools and screws. Juuuuust a touch over-built though, you could prob park a car up there lol. That loft is lasting longer than the shed. OH get some torx or squarehead screws and give them a try. You'll never drive another phillips ever.
IT'S REALY NICE AND SPACE SAVERS, IT GIVES ME AN IDEA TO INSTALL ONE ON MY TINY HOUSE.THANKS ALEX AND QUITE HANDSOME AND TALENTED BOY THINKING YOU'RE A FILIPINO AS YOUR NAME IS.
Wow! This is such an amazing project that came out amazing. I’ll be building one in the near future. Thanks again for the detailed video. Your a great dad! God bless!
This is great, I'm building a platform bed in my small apartment to make space (The living room and bedroom are in the same area) this helped me figure a few things out.
Is it bad that I'm 20 and considering doing this? I think there's a stigma around loft beds being only for kids, but I think it's great for space and I can have my desk computer set up underneath. Amazing video, kudos.
Hahaha Jordan Aaron Smith that's funny Man! To be honest aren't we all kids at heart?! I wish I had this when I was young and to be honest I get a kick out of climbing up there all the time! I can see myself being 70 and still wanting a loft bed and a swing in my bedroom! Thanks for checking the video out and for the comment!
There's probably a stigma I mean nothing quite screams 'you're not getting any' like a high up single bed with a ladder attached but they can be done for adults. I've seen doubles with stairs. If I buy a studio flat I'd definitely considering having one and I'm 36. I think I'd probably have support beams though for my peace of mind.
I know this is late...but I just came across this. This is massive overkill. I've built beds like this and beds with supports using 1x4. He build this strong enough to put a waterbed on. While I agree with 2x6 along the sidewalls, The rest can be made using 1x4 fro cross supports with 1x6 along back wall and front face.
This is a great vid and great job. I’ve been thinking of doing this for my kids and after watching your video I’m definitely going for it great job bro 👍🏼
hi, buck here, i loved your project, however i want to add a suggestion. on your ladder to the upper bunk deck, it needs to be at right angles to the dismount/mount to the upper deck, the kids need to approach the ladder from one side or another so that they are not extending facefirst or backwards to get onto the ladder but from the side so tthat they can see where they are going to land or step onto, if you look at industrial safety ladders you will see that the dismount is to either side than over the top of the ladder, example, if you are dismounting from your roof of your house onto a ladder you need to be able to see where you are placing your feet to going rather than backing blind to a potential fall point, its just the way your brain works, you need a place to one side or the other to place your butt, to be stable or to step from, i spent 60 years as an industrial millwright/machinist and have been up many hundreds of yards of safety ladders and i always felt safer stepping sideways onto a landing, good luck, i added your build onto my bookmarks, thanks buck...
Looks awesome bro, just a thought, get yourself a bevel, cheap ones are about $7, that way you could of used it to make the angle top and bottom without needing ply or some the right thickness and marking top and bottom can be done without the ladder in place. But anyway great job
Thanks Phil Hawks! There's always a chance to make something special for them! I'm sure if not a loft bed, some other great project will come to mind! Thanks for the comment Phil!
Hey Icaro Matos! Thanks for checking it out! They absolutely do love it and there's so much more to do such as a tv... ac... and small little things to make it their get away! Even thinking a small fridge Lol! Thanks again bro!
The light is so close to kids and pillows (pillow fights) and horseplay it would worry me. Maybe a different type light or a case type item over that light. You did a fine job making the loft.
Always take measurements on the exact installation position. Take into consideration that there are no perfectly flat walls or ceilings and no perfect square angles between them.
You can also use structural screws. They are available in different sizes, lengths, and colors and either hex or torx head. They don't require pre-drilling but I would recommend two screws per stud.
Congrats, man. It was quite pleasing to watch. A suggestion: what if you change the lights for some LED, comfortable yellowish, not hanging from above? It will get the space still cozier than already is.
Thanks for sharing! What I didn't find out was the hight from the top of the bed to the lowest part of the ceiling? I'm going to make exact the samen loft but under a flat roof and only got 30" inch. Thanks in advanced
May I ask a question? Would it have been any stronger if the joists would have gone from wall to wall rather than from the back wall out to the front piece which is only secured with two lag bolts on each end?
if you ever wanna putt some storge in ther play u could cut out between the studds from the bottom of the loft and add hinged boxs to be used as hide away storge for toys or what u wanna store or hide ...
now i have no clue if that might weken it or not being as u look like u do this line of work u might know more than me i just thought it might be a kool idea for extra storge for u and your family to us...
This is a great project. I really like your design considerations regarding safety features. I was wondering if you think it is possible your boys could contact the light tubes and break them? Good job dad. Grandfather of five.
thank you for your video!!! I am going to attempt to do this for my son in his closet, making a reading area hideout and the closet portion underneath!
Ebook link doesn’t work… just wanted to find out what size lag bolts you used and what size pilot holes did you drill to insert the lag bolts? It would be so helpful to know! Thanks x
Hi Alex, Thank you for the video it's exactly what I'm looking for, for the space and bed size I have to use. Maybe I'm missing it but do you have any "plans" I can use or supplies list and measurements for the wood that I can use to make this?

Love it. But I would round and sand the top of the ladder. Maybe a hand rail against the wall.
Very good job man!! thnxs!!
You did a great job here, thanks for the video it’s given me so good ideas 👍
Nice and detailed. Thanks
amazing craftsmansip.. keep in touch
My dad did this I was side ways against the wall...above my head but he worked in the sun 117 degrees all day kinda worked out for us
Great job. Any plans on relocating the lighting to prevent the kids from accidentally hitting it?
That's what I was thinking about the lights...or at least he could have made it about 3 inches lower or so
This is amazing project bro great job love it 👍👍👍👍👍
Great and well made video, I loved it!! New subscriber definitely.
Great work my man!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

I’m starting my project based off of this. Thanks.
Great Work Alex thanks for sharing

This is beautiful ty for showing how to make this loft bed... #inspired
Can you set the blocking all aligned and screw (or nail) them diagonally from the inside? Like what you did in the end portion near the wall?
Thank you so much. This helped so much. Great job. Thanks again. 👏👏🙋♀️🤗
Brazil, I Love It
From Portugal. Good job.
Hey Designclub Conceito e Grafismo! Thank you very much for checking the video out and for the comment!!
Neat job,,,excellent,,,i love it.
REALLY COOL LOVE IT 👍🏼
EXCELENTE !!! GRACIAS !!🥰🇲🇽
hi Alex, what is the size of the lag bolt you were using? thanks!
Do you have a liink for that corner plate bracket? Thanks a bunch
Hey great video! Curious as to what size lag bolts you used?
hi. did you know the size of the bolts? im planning to make a loft bed like this
Great video!!! Great project too. How do you keep the kids from breaking the ceiling light??
My thought's precisely.
Great idea!
A minor point and 7 years late, but relocate the light or change it as it's a pending accident
Nice !! I want to make something in a queen size, Any thoughts ?
I would change the position of the light. It's not in a good place.
Yes!
I’d change it out to an LED strip light so it hugs the ceiling and don’t hit their heads on it
