I fear there are a few things not being addressed. 1) The branded sponsored content could be seen negatively by the viewer, hurting the channel's reputation since they are pushing their videos as "ads." This could spur negative backlash. 2) why doesn't RUclips already try to push well performing videos with viewerbases of similar content? despite incredibly high AVD/CTR the algo seems to have a difficult time identifying neighboring channel's audiences. Using adsense/promotions seems like a paid stopgap to compensate for lower viewership and reach that should be happening organically already. I'm noticing many creators in my space are seeing a massive reduction in impressions almost universally, despite our audience wondering where are uploads have been.. only to find they haven't been shown or notified. 3) Instead of promoting our video broadly as ads, could there instead be an implementation that allows creators to inform and help the algo by suggesting the audience the video should be ideally targeting? We as creators are on the same side as RUclips: Tring to create the best engaging and entertaining content possible to maximize revenue and satisfaction. Implementations like this feel like creators are more of a hostage by RUclips instead of a partner.

In my opinion, only videos with commercial content should be advertised. Other videos should be recommended naturally to maintain the channel's credibility and provide a comfortable experience for viewers. RUclips should support creators by suggesting content that matches the audience.
I decided to shorten a long form content video created by me, and after shortening it, ya'll removed my Shorts that I created from this long form content video. It would be nice if you warned us that if we edit existing content (we created and own) that Shorts created from it will be removed.
Been doing RUclips consistently for more than a year (either streaming or uploading every day since October 2022) by this point & it's obvious that RUclips will recommend channels based on the location of their IP addresses. Region-lock/geo-lock is obvious on RUclips & it is ruining my chances of being recommended to the actual audiences meant for my content on my channel. I live in India & even though my channel is an English channel, I speak in English & always select my language as English whether I'm streaming or uploading, 95% of my streams and/or videos are getting recommended to non-English speakers. That too mostly Indians. Please do something about this. I'm not asking this just for me but for thousands of other RUclipsrs that speak non-regional languages and/or create content in non-regional languages (i.e English in non-English countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia .etc)
I'm in USA and in the last year alone 11.3% of my views came from Japan and 10.2% from USA. The rest are spread thin with less than 1% each per nation listed. Other English speaking nations like United Kingdom and Australia don't even rank.
I live in Texas and apart from a couple short videos that went viral for a few days before throttled I'm also getting nothing on this site, though on similar platforms they seem to still know how to promote without making it an extortion racket.
70% of my subs are reportedly in India and I live in NH and it’s only after I paid for promotions that they all came in I literally went from 100 to 4.8k and I can only count for 200 of them from actual videos the rest are “private”? Which I didn’t know was even a thing

It is hard to be seen on RUclips as a small channel. I feel if you advertise/promote on RUclips/Google Ads that those watch hours should count toward Monetization. I did promotions just to get our brand out there and there were quite a few watch hours that 'didn't count' towards Public Watch Hours.. but the promotions counted as Views and Subscribers. TV commercials/ads cause people to buy more of that product. So, if sales increase directly because of the ad, do those sales not count in the overall company's sales metric? Or, do those sales not count because they were not organic, like someone just buying something off the shelf blindly? Promotion/ad driven watch hours should count toward monetization. The promotion just creates increased awareness and exposure of the video, the viewer still decides whether or not to watch. Please count Promotion/ad watch hours towards Public Views.
It's disappointing that you fail to include promotion generated subscribers and watch hours toward the qualification for joining the RUclips partner programme. Promotions cost creators a lot of money and other than increasing traffic, you're fundamentally placing a barrier to financial stability. Sure, there are plenty of creators who have a low cost barrier to entry, but that isn't the case for a majority. Please reconsider at least the watch hours component as that alone signifies that viewers value the content and it shouldn't be held back from being included in the qualification process.
I concur. It seems logical that those investing significant amounts of money into RUclips should earn watch time and subscribers that count towards partnership. Quality of content is key, as promotion alone cannot guarantee viewer retention. Moreover, viewers have the choice not to engage with a video, which suggests that promotion does not necessarily provide an unfair advantage. An explanation for this decision would be enlightening.
I would just like the subscribers I have already gained to have a chance to see my uploads. Having less than 10% "impressions" on a video vs how many subs I have makes me question why I would pay for more views to gain more subs that will not be shown my uploads.

in the beta version of this i run a couple for $10, $15 dollars even tho it said video's will do better if you spend $300 or more :), just to see what it was all about, it worked as intended at certain time each afternoon i would see a huge spike in views and subscribers, but this gave me false feed back on what content to push, and also then on any video's after the promotions ended, the channel when back to a ghost town , even loosing more subscribers then i had gained, when checking analytics , most lost subscribers came from closed accounts or other was the most percentage. that's why in this video add they try to address this by say if you have a product to promote to get more sales, i could see some use for this feature, which also doesn't seem to work cause the people watching are getting a commission to watch adds and subscribe, so no incentive to click through to your online shop to spend more money. only thing that could work with this feature if you put over $500 to $1000 into promoting, and it gets that nice looking view count that could make other's watch, creating a snowball effect, and if your monetized, you may break even or a little profit with new subscribers and viewers, while this is not possible for smaller channels with lower budget. there needs to be two options, product based promotions, and target audience selections like categories with heaps of fine tuning options.
There are no targeting options. The only thing I can set is the country. "Your promoted video will be shown to people who are most likely to engage with your channel, based on your existing channel subscribers and views". This is not how it should be. The people who have already subscribed via the promotion are not the correct audience based on the analytics. RUclips is using the data from these "current" subscribers to target viewers but the "current" subscribers are worthless because they subscribed but don't actually watch anything. When I do an engagement campaign in Facebook, I can get very specific with the target audience. This is what's needed for the RUclips promotions.
I like to see examples of where and how the ads are being shown when using the Promotion feature. I've been using it for quite a while now but it doesn't give me the visibility of where the ad placements are, instead we get a generic statement that doesn't really tell us where the ads go.

I fear RUclips is taking a slow turn towards a different approach to make money. If the pull towards it gets stronger over the years yt will become just another playground of have's.
That's not the intention of Promotions- the goal is to help creators grow their channel and/or business incrementally if they so choose. Promotions will not affect the search and discovery a video would naturally get on the platform.

so ive used promotions a few times and i get this huge influx of subscribers at really late hours of the night and when i look it doesnt show me where they all came from ive only been able to count for maybe 1% of my subs and i feel almost like its being faked
As you can see via the thumbs. There are folks who agree with you in your perception. If youtube would like for the perception to disappear, youtube could require the inclusion of all subs within a subs list on a channel. Therefore; those who pay to promote could verify the authenticity of a new sub gained via promotion campaign. Better yet - annotate a sub referencing the source of media watched upon clicking "subscribe". I find it odd how few views my new videos get from "subscribers" in context of my subscription count when in theory youtube s/b pushing out my new videos to current subscribers. I invite the nice lady who presented here to provide a reply to this thread.

A response to my age-old question would be appreciated, to show you are thinking about it: Why doesn't RUclips allow one mid-roll ad slot on videos at least 5 minutes in length? This would open up possibilities for content creators to insert a planned ad slot in videos 5-8 minutes long, while using the existing mid-roll ad slot availability on all videos 8 minutes or longer. YT, and creators, would realize greater opportunities for revenue on videos that could easily support one mid-roll ad slot, right?
Ever since the introduction of the "Promotions" tab, it feels as though all of my video uploads have been throttled back and are no longer being suggested by RUclips. Almost as though I'm being forced to pay to promote my videos now in order to achieve the same success I enjoyed prior to the "Promotions" option. This approach may benefit YT financially in the short term, but it's going to kill off YT new prospect creators in the long term. I have close to 10K subscribers now but I'm close to giving up, as it just seems to have become some big corrupt, confusing, coin operated scam... really sad ☹

Ok, so, if I were to select a video to promote in order to hopefully get more traffic and subscribers to my channel, I pay RUclips to push that video, but the video will not earn me any money, so I cannot recuperate my investment in promoting said video? For a creator that is working on less than minimum wage, this feature seems to be geared to favor channels that HAVE it to SPEND it. In my opinion, it goes totally against what RUclips says it does for it's creators 'even playing field, equal opportunity' - unless of course, the decision to invest more money toward promoting a video regardless of income is considered equal... I am so confused with how RUclips operates and while always emphasizing it is there for all creators. Onward and upward. I am just going to pretend I did not hear that and remain invisible to RUclips 🫥

There are many old videos made by us, which RUclips does not bring forward, it takes a lot of effort and cost to create a content, I request you to think about the matter.
What do you mean? I've seen videos as old as 10 years old appear on my homepage. RUclips follows the audience so maybe there is really any interest in the topics of your older videos?
i mean some old content depends how original and or unique can be outdated that does not represent something that got changed and making an updating video basically requires to record completely fresh and new content and maybe reusing some old clips for comparisons and reinforce criticism

Had a bad experience on / with RUclips promote. As my chess content was placed in front of folks who don't give a damn on chess, therefore Average view duration dropped bellow 25 seconds, and the extra 180 subscribers don't seem to be interested in the slighest in chess content. So, I guess, RUclips places your video to whoever, regardless of their interest. Promote seems to be a money grab for youtube. It doesn't help creators at all. And it doesn't add to YPP either. Not mentioning the huge unclarity in regards with the overdelivery extra charges!

I think youtube is missing out on an opportunity to make more money. GIVE EVERY YT creator with over 500 subscribers tip jar.....and yt keeps portion of it until they reach higher watch time...then yt takes less....you have over 50 million active creators and only tiny portion is monetized.....think about how much yt would have made each year if people have tips....so many with 500 subscribers or more....i mean people can already share paypal link...so why have them make the whole tip just make it easier for creators give them a tip jar and make money in the process. hello?
I wish that the promotions didn't absolutely tank the analytics for any given video. I did a Promotion on a video and the Average View Duration and CTR just plummeted.
Yeah because essentially you're running an ad on content that isn't designed to be an ad to a new audience. It's not a good idea for 99% of creators honestly. It's just a new way for them to try and bring money in from creators.
Yes, I'd rather get a slower trickle of interested viewers than lots of clicks on my videos of people who will swipe away as quickly as they came... so in this case, the youtube algorithm is our friend and knows best

Views from Promotions can have lower average view duration and CTR than views your channel gains organically. Views from Promotions are incremental to your organic views, and the CTR of promotion views don't affect organic reach.
We need to be able to add cards/end screens on mobile devices, either in main RUclips app during upload, or in YT Studio app. We also need upload defaults to work on mobile devices too. Having my descriptions auto fill will save a lot of time. I’m a mobile creator, but I have to switch to desktop in order to add cards/end screens etc. this slows down the process to me

Suggested is all about the viewers interests, not your video. You will see disparate videos because viewers have diverse interests. It is not an indication of RUclips not understanding who the ideal viewer is. Can they get it wrong? yes. If you see large numbers on high;y unrelated topics, then it’s is possible RUclips doesn’t fully understand what your video is and is still trying to work that out. It is also possible as creators that we’ve done a poor job at being clear to the audience and therefore the algorithm as to what a particular video is about because of mixed messaging in our title, thumbnail and description (and content).
I tried to do a promotion for my video "Top 100 Every Things Wrong with Skyrim in a Nutshell [EmptyHero]" but it was misidentified as a "campaign ad" and there's no way to get it fixed.

What we need is ALGORITHM FIX and KEYWORD SEARCH FAIRNESS. I do unboxing figures, mostly nendoroids. But RUclips does not promote my videos, not even when people search for "nendoroid". I even make several new accounts to test my theory. To my horror, NONE of my nendoroid videos appear in searches. Instead a local nendoroid unboxers literally SPAM THE SEARCH. Her videos, TENS of them mind you, appear in multiple scroll down, even in shorts. I complained but RUclips cs simply ignored me. How is this fair?!!! I don't care about algorithm. If people search, they should have been presented with MULTIPLE and VARIOUS youtubers!!! Not several ones dominating the search!!!! Even Google Search is not that crazy!!!! Please FIX it!!!!
Yea this is very curious. My experience so far (and its early for me) is that if this is artificially inflating your view counts, in a sense, the subs you gain from this and watch hours are not meaningful ones in that and are not likely to return to your content in the future. Not sure if Im on target with that just my gut feeling. Feels like if you make content people want to see that should be enough. Not to mention the views from this dont count as monetized views? Did I understand that correctly? I dont want to be too negative about this as I appreciate what RUclips offers me as a creator and the support in the Studio app and all that but.....this sort of feels like a money grab by YT to get ALL of us new creators (and there are a TON of us) to start paying to play, so to speak. Could be off base here but I guess we'll see.
I feel the same way. If people are watching, those hours should be counted. If the video isn’t good, promoted or not, then it won’t get views, but those artists that are getting good watched hours from their promotions should have those count toward monetization. There should be a happy medium in there somewhere like half of the promoted watched hours AT LEAST.
Paid promotion will look artificial in growth & rather based on best video/creation U-Tube may push videos as creators spend more than 6-8 hours per day. Royalty free music is good so far but should cover more subjects like for a bird nest few songs/music is available. Just a suggestion
when it comes to promotions, setups and all. i don't get pass the Targeting page. Anotification that says " Something went wrong. Please try again later'' always comes up
Sorry to hear you're running into this- this is a known issue where if your channel is not using Studio permissions, you will get this error if someone other than the primary owner of the channel tries to create the first promotion. You can rectify this by getting the primary owner of the channel to create the first promotion. Hope that helps.
I have seen that RUclips makes videos of only famous people viral. And the view stops our best videos. Sometimes I feel like I should stop making videos. I have uploaded dance, singing, comedy, cinematic videos, but I did not get the desired support from RUclips.😢

Questions about the promotions tab: (I have had access to this BETA feature some time now) #1 If I promote a video and via the promotion it gains 10,000 views. Do I earn the same amount of money for those views as I would if that video WITHOUT promotion gained 10,000 views? In my testing of promoting videos, it seemed it did not count the promoted 10,000 views towards Ad revenue, or at least it did not count them as the same cost per view as organic. #2 When testing this feature out in Beta, I had set a budget of $100 for a video, I had a few times the video went OVER that budget ($198) and charged me for the overage...via support I was unable to get a refund for the overage even though I set a max budget. Is this still something that can happen? Or has this been fixed? #3 Limited to no information about the viewers that came in via the promotion was given. At the time of testing this feature in the Beta, I was only able to see the number of views that came in specifically through the promotion, but no additional information was given about those viewers, so I could then retarget them or strategize as to why they did or did not view for long, subscribe, or click through if applicable. Has this been addressed and more information is given about these "paid views". If not, I feel this does not help the creator besides inflating their view count on content to external third parties for sponsorships or brand deals...

While increasing the subscriber count in a RUclips approved way of getting more people to your videos is great, it would be nice if the money you spend with youtube would count towards watch time hours especially for smaller channels. I'm on track to hit 1000/4000 at the same time, but still doesn't feel right. I won't be driving traffic to my Channel this way for that reason.
tiktok have a similar feature, unless they final got rid of it, and the amount of countries that can join the add program is low, i guess to control overreach with funds for creators, or add companies would not even turn a profit with low CTR on their adds, i skip 90% of them . yeah pay to play models seem to similar to gaming cash shops.
Hi. It is well documented that as soon as you use promotions, RUclips throttles organic views. I assume that is because YT wants creators to continue using promotions which means more income for the channel.
In other words... once they find a sucker they keep them a sucker. They're copying Instagram. They block content from your subscribers in order to see if you'll buy promotion and once you do they know they got you. And all those views you bought are their bots.
Day 25 Please fix the re-used content policies de-monetizing the entire channel and de-monetizing one video both are different things at least give them a warning so the creator can delete the re-used content video. it's good for both sides. Your team told Masteroogway which video is violating the reused content policy but you can't tell the same things to small creators. Your reused algorithm is not working after reporting 100+ reused content channels you did nothing about that so look into that before directly demonetizing the channels. Thank You in advance :)
I would love to have RUclips give you the option of PAYING a monthly FEE to have NO ADS at all on your channel. That is the way it used to be before they changed it several years ago.

There should be a different set of rules to be monetized if your a pod-caster. since we do the podcasting for listening to on other outlets, and now the google podcast is going away, it is impossible for a single, small podcast channel to gain any traction on RUclips. I do understand RUclips is a "video" platform, but there are so many people who like to listen to podcast while they are busy doing other stuff, driving, cooking, walking, running etc. so it is impossible to get the "views" that are needed as other channels who focus on just video content since they want to see "faces" or content and if not offered they get bashed and YT does not promote them like a video channel. Which means all our previous content promoted to other platforms, like google podcast, need to be "redone" to fit a video format just to be able to compete just to be listened to. Its impossible to compete on YT as a small channel with deep pocket channels that run like TV episodes on Podcast As a veteran and speech issues now, its hard to gain traction here. Smaller channels cannot afford to hire outside help to narrate, video editing, data gathering. Its just to much. If we promote on YT, its a double win for YT, they gain money from the promotion as well as the advertiser is charged. That is a double win for YT channel. Its a great business model :) . People do listen but as they are listening while driving, walking whatever, they are not going to pull over on the side of the road and leave comments or hit a like or subscribe button. Just my 2 cents worth.
Promotions was useful for me in gaining subscribers for a small cost. But some of my videos keep being wrongly identified as "exaggerated," or "negative," or even "clickbait." It seems your system is not properly identifying a content creator's videos and making it hard to do a proper promotion, resulting in wasted money. I should be able to select my audience otherwise it's getting promoted to people who have zero interest, and you're just collecting money from us without actually doing anything that provides substantial help. Additionally, why add it to the Studio options if it's just going to be the very same thing as if we'd used Adwords directly? If Promotions is a tab in Studio then it should be content creator-friendly. Any promotion done through there should be marked in every impression as "Creator Promotion", not an "Advertisement" because it ISN'T an advertisement - it's our created content! If people are wrongly informed that my video which I spent days and hours creating is an advertisement then it will negatively impact my channel growth, not help it. You should be finding ways to make Promotions different from Adwords for the content creator.
Music on some of my shorts have music playing on the radio in the back ground causing a copyrights to appear when I review my short I sometimes come across that same artists song on RUclips music list and use it for back ground music I sometimes have a video that I upload that is 1 minute and I cant use RUclipss music as it dose not blend in with the video and sorry to say it needs a little updating a the music sucks For the shorts its cool

Great, so you want our money to 'promote' our content, that you point blank refuse to place in front of our target audience in the first place... my guess being because you're limiting our reach in an effort to get us to pay to promote... but then tell us that this is totally pointless as a gain for channels not already in the partnership program. How about YT fixes its bipolar algorithm, start placing our content in front of our target audience, stop being tik-tok try hards, when we search for something FILL THE PAGE WITH CONTENT RELATED TO THE SEARCH!!!!!! It's seriously tedious that 90% of my homepage, search, and up next is content totally unrelated to what I want to watch. Oh, and heads up: I'm also not interested in any way in what 'other people watched'. Stop trying to micro manage what YOU want me to watch, just give me what I ASKED for. This way when other viewers search for my niche content, you may well actually admit I exist, because so far you're not, and it's feeling very much like discrimination!
I tried it, i got 9.8k for $100 , i seen guys trash their channels by using it to much. Be careful, but every now and again its good,edited i made $100 off the video and total 20k views. I had alot of related video views too,

I fear there are a few things not being addressed. 1) The branded sponsored content could be seen negatively by the viewer, hurting the channel's reputation since they are pushing their videos as "ads." This could spur negative backlash. 2) why doesn't RUclips already try to push well performing videos with viewerbases of similar content? despite incredibly high AVD/CTR the algo seems to have a difficult time identifying neighboring channel's audiences. Using adsense/promotions seems like a paid stopgap to compensate for lower viewership and reach that should be happening organically already. I'm noticing many creators in my space are seeing a massive reduction in impressions almost universally, despite our audience wondering where are uploads have been.. only to find they haven't been shown or notified. 3) Instead of promoting our video broadly as ads, could there instead be an implementation that allows creators to inform and help the algo by suggesting the audience the video should be ideally targeting? We as creators are on the same side as RUclips: Tring to create the best engaging and entertaining content possible to maximize revenue and satisfaction. Implementations like this feel like creators are more of a hostage by RUclips instead of a partner.

In my opinion, only videos with commercial content should be advertised. Other videos should be recommended naturally to maintain the channel's credibility and provide a comfortable experience for viewers. RUclips should support creators by suggesting content that matches the audience.

Been doing RUclips consistently for more than a year (either streaming or uploading every day since October 2022) by this point & it's obvious that RUclips will recommend channels based on the location of their IP addresses. Region-lock/geo-lock is obvious on RUclips & it is ruining my chances of being recommended to the actual audiences meant for my content on my channel. I live in India & even though my channel is an English channel, I speak in English & always select my language as English whether I'm streaming or uploading, 95% of my streams and/or videos are getting recommended to non-English speakers. That too mostly Indians. Please do something about this. I'm not asking this just for me but for thousands of other RUclipsrs that speak non-regional languages and/or create content in non-regional languages (i.e English in non-English countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia .etc)
I'm in USA and in the last year alone 11.3% of my views came from Japan and 10.2% from USA. The rest are spread thin with less than 1% each per nation listed. Other English speaking nations like United Kingdom and Australia don't even rank.

I live in Texas and apart from a couple short videos that went viral for a few days before throttled I'm also getting nothing on this site, though on similar platforms they seem to still know how to promote without making it an extortion racket.
70% of my subs are reportedly in India and I live in NH and it’s only after I paid for promotions that they all came in I literally went from 100 to 4.8k and I can only count for 200 of them from actual videos the rest are “private”? Which I didn’t know was even a thing

It is hard to be seen on RUclips as a small channel. I feel if you advertise/promote on RUclips/Google Ads that those watch hours should count toward Monetization. I did promotions just to get our brand out there and there were quite a few watch hours that 'didn't count' towards Public Watch Hours.. but the promotions counted as Views and Subscribers.
TV commercials/ads cause people to buy more of that product. So, if sales increase directly because of the ad, do those sales not count in the overall company's sales metric? Or, do those sales not count because they were not organic, like someone just buying something off the shelf blindly?
Promotion/ad driven watch hours should count toward monetization. The promotion just creates increased awareness and exposure of the video, the viewer still decides whether or not to watch.
Please count Promotion/ad watch hours towards Public Views.
It's disappointing that you fail to include promotion generated subscribers and watch hours toward the qualification for joining the RUclips partner programme. Promotions cost creators a lot of money and other than increasing traffic, you're fundamentally placing a barrier to financial stability. Sure, there are plenty of creators who have a low cost barrier to entry, but that isn't the case for a majority. Please reconsider at least the watch hours component as that alone signifies that viewers value the content and it shouldn't be held back from being included in the qualification process.
I concur. It seems logical that those investing significant amounts of money into RUclips should earn watch time and subscribers that count towards partnership. Quality of content is key, as promotion alone cannot guarantee viewer retention. Moreover, viewers have the choice not to engage with a video, which suggests that promotion does not necessarily provide an unfair advantage. An explanation for this decision would be enlightening.

I would just like the subscribers I have already gained to have a chance to see my uploads. Having less than 10% "impressions" on a video vs how many subs I have makes me question why I would pay for more views to gain more subs that will not be shown my uploads.

in the beta version of this i run a couple for $10, $15 dollars even tho it said video's will do better if you spend $300 or more :), just to see what it was all about, it worked as intended at certain time each afternoon i would see a huge spike in views and subscribers, but this gave me false feed back on what content to push, and also then on any video's after the promotions ended, the channel when back to a ghost town , even loosing more subscribers then i had gained, when checking analytics , most lost subscribers came from closed accounts or other was the most percentage. that's why in this video add they try to address this by say if you have a product to promote to get more sales, i could see some use for this feature, which also doesn't seem to work cause the people watching are getting a commission to watch adds and subscribe, so no incentive to click through to your online shop to spend more money. only thing that could work with this feature if you put over $500 to $1000 into promoting, and it gets that nice looking view count that could make other's watch, creating a snowball effect, and if your monetized, you may break even or a little profit with new subscribers and viewers, while this is not possible for smaller channels with lower budget. there needs to be two options, product based promotions, and target audience selections like categories with heaps of fine tuning options.
There are no targeting options. The only thing I can set is the country.
"Your promoted video will be shown to people who are most likely to engage with your channel, based on your existing channel subscribers and views". This is not how it should be. The people who have already subscribed via the promotion are not the correct audience based on the analytics. RUclips is using the data from these "current" subscribers to target viewers but the "current" subscribers are worthless because they subscribed but don't actually watch anything.
When I do an engagement campaign in Facebook, I can get very specific with the target audience. This is what's needed for the RUclips promotions.
I like to see examples of where and how the ads are being shown when using the Promotion feature. I've been using it for quite a while now but it doesn't give me the visibility of where the ad placements are, instead we get a generic statement that doesn't really tell us where the ads go.

I fear RUclips is taking a slow turn towards a different approach to make money. If the pull towards it gets stronger over the years yt will become just another playground of have's.
That's not the intention of Promotions- the goal is to help creators grow their channel and/or business incrementally if they so choose. Promotions will not affect the search and discovery a video would naturally get on the platform.
Don't forget Alphabet's # 1 priority is to push their ideology

so ive used promotions a few times and i get this huge influx of subscribers at really late hours of the night and when i look it doesnt show me where they all came from ive only been able to count for maybe 1% of my subs and i feel almost like its being faked
As you can see via the thumbs. There are folks who agree with you in your perception. If youtube would like for the perception to disappear, youtube could require the inclusion of all subs within a subs list on a channel. Therefore; those who pay to promote could verify the authenticity of a new sub gained via promotion campaign. Better yet - annotate a sub referencing the source of media watched upon clicking "subscribe". I find it odd how few views my new videos get from "subscribers" in context of my subscription count when in theory youtube s/b pushing out my new videos to current subscribers. A response to my age-old question would be appreciated, to show you are thinking about it: Why doesn't RUclips allow one mid-roll ad slot on videos at least 5 minutes in length? This would open up possibilities for content creators to insert a planned ad slot in videos 5-8 minutes long, while using the existing mid-roll ad slot availability on all videos 8 minutes or longer. YT, and creators, would realize greater opportunities for revenue on videos that could easily support one mid-roll ad slot, right?
Ever since the introduction of the "Promotions" tab, it feels as though all of my video uploads have been throttled back and are no longer being suggested by RUclips. Almost as though I'm being forced to pay to promote my videos now in order to achieve the same success I enjoyed prior to the "Promotions" option.
This approach may benefit YT financially in the short term, but it's going to kill off YT new prospect creators in the long term. I have close to 10K subscribers now but I'm close to giving up, as it just seems to have become some big corrupt, confusing, coin operated scam... really sad ☹

Ok, so, if I were to select a video to promote in order to hopefully get more traffic and subscribers to my channel, I pay RUclips to push that video, but the video will not earn me any money, so I cannot recuperate my investment in promoting said video? For a creator that is working on less than minimum wage, this feature seems to be geared to favor channels that HAVE it to SPEND it. In my opinion, it goes totally against what RUclips says it does for it's creators 'even playing field, equal opportunity' - unless of course, the decision to invest more money toward promoting a video regardless of income is considered equal... I am so confused with how RUclips operates and while always emphasizing it is there for all creators. Onward and upward. There are many old videos made by us, which RUclips does not bring forward, it takes a lot of effort and cost to create a content, I request you to think about the matter.
What do you mean? I've seen videos as old as 10 years old appear on my homepage. RUclips follows the audience so maybe there is really any interest in the topics of your older videos?
i mean some old content depends how original and or unique can be outdated that does not represent something that got changed
and making an updating video basically requires to record completely fresh and new content and maybe reusing some old clips for comparisons and reinforce criticism

After all, they're individuals who discovered the channel and decided to follow it, making them valuable subscribers in essence. Had a bad experience on / with RUclips promote. As my chess content was placed in front of folks who don't give a damn on chess, therefore Average view duration dropped bellow 25 seconds, and the extra 180 subscribers don't seem to be interested in the slighest in chess content. So, I guess, RUclips places your video to whoever, regardless of their interest. Promote seems to be a money grab for youtube. It doesn't help creators at all. And it doesn't add to YPP either. Not mentioning the huge unclarity in regards with the overdelivery extra charges!

I think youtube is missing out on an opportunity to make more money. GIVE EVERY YT creator with over 500 subscribers tip jar.....and yt keeps portion of it until they reach higher watch time...then yt takes less....you have over 50 million active creators and only tiny portion is monetized.....think about how much yt would have made each year if people have tips....so many with 500 subscribers or more....i mean people can already share paypal link...so why have them make the whole tip just make it easier for creators give them a tip jar and make money in the process. hello?

Yeah because essentially you're running an ad on content that isn't designed to be an ad to a new audience. It's not a good idea for 99% of creators honestly. It's just a new way for them to try and bring money in from creators.
Yes, I'd rather get a slower trickle of interested viewers than lots of clicks on my videos of people who will swipe away as quickly as they came... so in this case, the youtube algorithm is our friend and knows best
I had a similar experience with my very limited short lived experiment and decided to never use the promotions again. I wonder how many others quit using it because of the same negative experience. Its like being punished for buying from RUclips.

Views from Promotions can have lower average view duration and CTR than views your channel gains organically. Views from Promotions are incremental to your organic views, and the CTR of promotion views don't affect organic reach.

We also need upload defaults to work on mobile devices too. Having my descriptions auto fill will save a lot of time.

Suggested is all about the viewers interests, not your video. You will see disparate videos because viewers have diverse interests. It is not an indication of RUclips not understanding who the ideal viewer is. Can they get it wrong? yes. If you see large numbers on high;y unrelated topics, then it’s is possible RUclips doesn’t fully understand what your video is and is still trying to work that out. It is also possible as creators that we’ve done a poor job at being clear to the audience and therefore the algorithm as to what a particular video is about because of mixed messaging in our title, thumbnail and description (and content).
I tried to do a promotion for my video "Top 100 Every Things Wrong with Skyrim in a Nutshell [EmptyHero]" but it was misidentified as a "campaign ad" and there's no way to get it fixed.

What we need is ALGORITHM FIX and KEYWORD SEARCH FAIRNESS. I do unboxing figures, mostly nendoroids. But RUclips does not promote my videos, not even when people search for "nendoroid". I even make several new accounts to test my theory. To my horror, NONE of my nendoroid videos appear in searches. Instead a local nendoroid unboxers literally SPAM THE SEARCH. Her videos, TENS of them mind you, appear in multiple scroll down, even in shorts. I complained but RUclips cs simply ignored me. How is this fair?!!! I don't care about algorithm. If people search, they should have been presented with MULTIPLE and VARIOUS youtubers!!! Not several ones dominating the search!!!! Even Google Search is not that crazy!!!! Please FIX it!!!!

Yea this is very curious. My experience so far (and its early for me) is that if this is artificially inflating your view counts, in a sense, the subs you gain from this and watch hours are not meaningful ones in that and are not likely to return to your content in the future. Not sure if Im on target with that just my gut feeling. Feels like if you make content people want to see that should be enough. Not to mention the views from this dont count as monetized views? Did I understand that correctly? I dont want to be too negative about this as I appreciate what RUclips offers me as a creator and the support in the Studio app and all that but.....this sort of feels like a money grab by YT to get ALL of us new creators (and there are a TON of us) to start paying to play, so to speak. Could be off base here but I guess we'll see.
I feel the same way. If people are watching, those hours should be counted. If the video isn’t good, promoted or not, then it won’t get views, but those artists that are getting good watched hours from their promotions should have those count toward monetization. There should be a happy medium in there somewhere like half of the promoted watched hours AT LEAST.

Paid promotion will look artificial in growth & rather based on best video/creation U-Tube may push videos as creators spend more than 6-8 hours per day. Royalty free music is good so far but should cover more subjects like for a bird nest few songs/music is available. Just a suggestion

Sorry to hear you're running into this- this is a known issue where if your channel is not using Studio permissions, you will get this error if someone other than the primary owner of the channel tries to create the first promotion. You can rectify this by getting the primary owner of the channel to create the first promotion. Hope that helps.

What is the purpose for creators to promote videos if they can't make money on the views they get ? Looks like a money grab and might only be useful for sales videos
Questions about the promotions tab: (I have had access to this BETA feature some time now)
#1 If I promote a video and via the promotion it gains 10,000 views. Do I earn the same amount of money for those views as I would if that video WITHOUT promotion gained 10,000 views? In my testing of promoting videos, it seemed it did not count the promoted 10,000 views towards Ad revenue, or at least it did not count them as the same cost per view as organic.
#2 When testing this feature out in Beta, I had set a budget of $100 for a video, I had a few times the video went OVER that budget ($198) and charged me for the overage...via support I was unable to get a refund for the overage even though I set a max budget. Is this still something that can happen? Or has this been fixed?
#3 Limited to no information about the viewers that came in via the promotion was given. At the time of testing this feature in the Beta, I was only able to see the number of views that came in specifically through the promotion, but no additional information was given about those viewers, so I could then retarget them or strategize as to why they did or did not view for long, subscribe, or click through if applicable. Has this been addressed and more information is given about these "paid views". If not, I feel this does not help the creator besides inflating their view count on content to external third parties for sponsorships or brand deals...

While increasing the subscriber count in a RUclips approved way of getting more people to your videos is great, it would be nice if the money you spend with youtube would count towards watch time hours especially for smaller channels. I'm on track to hit 1000/4000 at the same time, but still doesn't feel right. I won't be driving traffic to my Channel this way for that reason.

tiktok have a similar feature, unless they final got rid of it, and the amount of countries that can join the add program is low, i guess to control overreach with funds for creators, or add companies would not even turn a profit with low CTR on their adds, i skip 90% of them . yeah pay to play models seem to similar to gaming cash shops.
Hi. It is well documented that as soon as you use promotions, RUclips throttles organic views. I assume that is because YT wants creators to continue using promotions which means more income for the channel.
In other words... once they find a sucker they keep them a sucker. They're copying Instagram. They block content from your subscribers in order to see if you'll buy promotion and once you do they know they got you. And all those views you bought are their bots.

Day 25 Please fix the re-used content policies de-monetizing the entire channel and de-monetizing one video both are different things at least give them a warning so the creator can delete the re-used content video. it's good for both sides.
Your team told Masteroogway which video is violating the reused content policy but you can't tell the same things to small creators.
Your reused algorithm is not working after reporting 100+ reused content channels you did nothing about that so look into that before directly demonetizing the channels.

I would love to have RUclips give you the option of PAYING a monthly FEE to have NO ADS at all on your channel. That is the way it used to be before they changed it several years ago.

This has been around for a few months it’s not new. If you haven’t seen promoted videos yet, you won’t. I also have premium and have not seen them.
Ads are not shown to Premium users. Separately, any Promotions are run as ads and are labeled as Sponsored.

Promotions will not harm organic reach of the channel- the goal is to provide additional views and engagement to your channel.

There should be a different set of rules to be monetized if your a pod-caster. since we do the podcasting for listening to on other outlets, and now the google podcast is going away, it is impossible for a single, small podcast channel to gain any traction on RUclips. I do understand RUclips is a "video" platform, but there are so many people who like to listen to podcast while they are busy doing other stuff, driving, cooking, walking, running etc. so it is impossible to get the "views" that are needed as other channels who focus on just video content since they want to see "faces" or content and if not offered they get bashed and YT does not promote them like a video channel. Which means all our previous content promoted to other platforms, like google podcast, need to be "redone" to fit a video format just to be able to compete just to be listened to. Its impossible to compete on YT as a small channel with deep pocket channels that run like TV episodes on Podcast As a veteran and speech issues now, its hard to gain traction here. Smaller channels cannot afford to hire outside help to narrate, video editing, data gathering. Its just to much. If we promote on YT, its a double win for YT, they gain money from the promotion as well as the advertiser is charged. That is a double win for YT channel. Its a great business model :) . People do listen but as they are listening while driving, walking whatever, they are not going to pull over on the side of the road and leave comments or hit a like or subscribe button. Just my 2 cents worth.

Why don't the subscribers gained through promotions count?
Because it slows down how quickly monetization may happen, saves them money to spend on things rather than creators.

They work well, usually.
Promotions was useful for me in gaining subscribers for a small cost. But some of my videos keep being wrongly identified as "exaggerated," or "negative," or even "clickbait." It seems your system is not properly identifying a content creator's videos and making it hard to do a proper promotion, resulting in wasted money. I should be able to select my audience otherwise it's getting promoted to people who have zero interest, and you're just collecting money from us without actually doing anything that provides substantial help. Additionally, why add it to the Studio options if it's just going to be the very same thing as if we'd used Adwords directly? If Promotions is a tab in Studio then it should be content creator-friendly. Any promotion done through there should be marked in every impression as "Creator Promotion", not an "Advertisement" because it ISN'T an advertisement - it's our created content! If people are wrongly informed that my video which I spent days and hours creating is an advertisement then it will negatively impact my channel growth, not help it. You should be finding ways to make Promotions different from Adwords for the content creator.

Music on some of my shorts have music playing on the radio in the back ground causing a copyrights to appear when I review my short
I sometimes come across that same artists song on RUclips music list and use it for back ground music
I sometimes have a video that I upload that is 1 minute and I cant use RUclipss music as it dose not blend in with the video
and sorry to say it needs a little updating a the music sucks

Great, so you want our money to 'promote' our content, that you point blank refuse to place in front of our target audience in the first place... my guess being because you're limiting our reach in an effort to get us to pay to promote... but then tell us that this is totally pointless as a gain for channels not already in the partnership program. Once again discriminating against us. How about YT fixes its bipolar algorithm, start placing our content in front of our target audience, stop being tik-tok try hards, when we search for something FILL THE PAGE WITH CONTENT RELATED TO THE SEARCH!!!!!! It's seriously tedious that 90% of my homepage, search, and up next is content totally unrelated to what I want to watch. Oh, and heads up: I'm also not interested in any way in what 'other people watched'. Stop trying to micro manage what YOU want me to watch, just give me what I ASKED for. This way when other viewers search for my niche content, you may well actually admit I exist, because so far you're not, and it's feeling very much like discrimination!
