In new England outside PVC trim is a must, and in most cases one and done, as you get older you want all things on your home one and done, little to no maintenance required
I wish they would have shown how the bottom was put under the door. I have to do that when it gets warmer. I have an idea but would have liked to see how he handles the threshold and caulking for waterproofing.
Yeah mine gets stomped & dented cause it looks like the installer just folded some aluminum. So aggravating and super ugly. I’ve had some really terrible issues with contractors not doing quality work and as a fine artist it really kills me. Quality work matters. Even the drywall idiot didn’t mud the ceiling correct & it was wavy so I had to sand & patch it myself. He couldn’t even get one wall right. We need quality contractors in NJ.
Exactly what I’m doing now, I opted to make my own sill pan for under the door from a roll of aluminum flashing I had laying around. Just have to preplan on where the folds will go. You can use a sealant like Lexan to seal then put your rubber membrane over it working your way up. I know the comment is old, just commenting anyway. Good luck
@@Off-Grid Hi! Nice to meet you! Yeah, it was the fall when I put it on. Eh, it worked through the winter which was all I needed it for. I just should have used wood in that scenario so I wouldn't have to repeat the task this year too. Livin' & learnin' (the hard way as usual). That said, the pvc boards are working great in the cellar of my old house that has a dirt floor and stone foundation.

Good install, not knocking on pvc trim, but it has been plaguing us builders, it’s toxic to cut, hard to shape, and doesn’t sand easy…when will carpenters finally get to use wood again? Let the plumbers use plastic
PVC is wonderful for exterior use! The front door on my house, faces the elements, and the overhang above is only 2 feet. Just replaced the exterior door with fiberglass, and replaced all trim with PVC, and used a rubber membrane behind all trim. Videos like this help all of us!

The PVC is definitely an improvement over the typical aluminum coil
You’re an improvement.

The only thing I've noticed is the ends growing fungus over time. Besides that it works great
@@Off-Grid yikes! Maybe try carnuba paste car wax or rain-x to keep the moisture running off quickly. Not sure if that would cause yellowing though…

I like surprising my neighbours, too

Thank you for making these.
Wow it’s amazing what a little change can do
What kind of countersink bit are you using?
Nice job! What crosshead did you use?
I wish they showed how they manage the area below the door.
that looks great
The trim looks so nice and clean.
Cutting PVC Trim is easy, but how do you clean up the saw dust? Do you cut over a tarp or similar material so you can clean it up? Thanks
Same way you would with wood dust. A dust pan and brush 🤣
Another great job by Nate,
Turned out great
I had a problem when I installed pvc trim. On the south (sunny) side, it warped over the summer.
Was it put on in the winter? Could have been tight when installed then expanded from the heat of the sun

Where does one buy this pvc trim??
Nice work!
Is there a slower video for removing the vertical trim wrap?

what kind of wood should be used for the filler pieces please?
