This channel has done so much for me and my mental health, just by helping me make my environment more beautiful. These succulent landscapes inspired me to ask my landlord if he’d be opposed to the idea. He said not at all, because succulents are so easily removed and maintained, and focusing on succulents makes it much easier to avoid accidentally planting those invasive species which ruin the property. Super happy that I’m actually able to feel inspired by my rental.
It's so cool seeing this as a succulent enthusiast beginner! It's like learning to ride a bike and then seeing someone else do tricks on their bike across the street. Love your plants!
I know this is an old video but I wanted to comment! I am between collector and designer, I can't wait till I'm able to move to a coastal area and have my succulents grow like weeds. I love your aggressiveness towards the plants, it helped me to see how truly resilient they are and made me more comfortable grooming my larger plants. I live in the Central valley and most of my plants are doing great but none of them grow as wild or beautiful as yours do.
Laura, your tip to 'be bold' and really handle the plants has been awesome for me. All my plants have responded really well. Actually they are going crazy here in Australia at the moment so I'm enjoying rearranging them.
In Korea, we cannot grow succulents in an outdoor area like in the garden because we have clear four seasons. In winter, succulents cannot survive. So we grow them in a vinyl greenhouse or inside in the balcony in an apartment. So jealous to make them grow outdoor area like you! Wow! It's such an amazing video with gorgeous succulents! Love your video from Korea...💖 💖 💖
Hi @KoreanSucculents Sonakbi ! You and Laura Eubanks are favorites of mine ! I also have 4 seasons like you . I think our climates are similar. I watch your videos a lot . Thank you 😊
The joy your videos have brought me these past 2 days?! Amazing. Thank God for you, woman. Seeing you cut up & design & pretty everything up is wonderful!
That crest plant looks beautiful after the cut you made. I thought you where going to cut each rosette when you asked not to go mad about it. Hehe. Now the arrangement looks intentional again 😊
Halo..saya ibu Rina..saya sangat senang dan kagum dengan semua video2 anda .saya suka taman seculen..hanya saja, saya belum bisa bertanam seculen sebagus tanaman seculen anda.salqm kenal ..Rina dari Bogor indonesia
Laura, you are the authority! 😍😍😍I totally love how candid you are with "collectors, you might want to avert your gaze" when you've cut a big chunk of the stem. Such awesome ending, too! I love, love, love it, Laura! 👍😀👍😍👏👏👏
I must say I never and I mean never cared for succulents are there any kind I do have several aloe vera but only because of their medicinal purposes I think well let me rephrase I thought that succulent plants are ugly but after watching your videos and I have watched several I think you may have changed my mind you really do make them very beautiful unfortunately I live in Ohio so I can't plant many outside but I think I'm going to go buy some that I can plant indoors. Thank you for opening my eyes.
That crest is to die for !!!. I hope some day I can make a crest grow like that!!! from a stem I have smalller multiple florets after s few months good to know it may take two years . You are so funny Laura thanks for the video .
Beautiful - reminds me of making a table or floral arrangement - same standard convention of odd count (1, 3, or 5). Giggled when you said, "Be brave!" - I think I'll get my courage up and start my first garden. Thanks for the inspiration.
Another fantastic video!! I've become a lot braver when it comes to rearranging existing areas because you have taught us all that even after pulling everything out (or mostly everything) most of those "used parts" become beautiful and new again. 💚😊🌵
such interesting tips - im so careful with my plants thinking im going to damage them but to see you confidently handling them and them doing well is great!
I do gasp when you cut and discharge things I would treasure. Was breathless the whole time you were working on area by fence with the fabulous troughs you had hanging. It was painful to see what got discarded ! Thanks for sharing all your wisdom.
This video helped me be more productive and happy! I love and enjoy to garden, design, and architecture. I have a small pot full with graptoverias and most of them have a long wavy veins. They kinda looks like a pastel green spider now. I get lazy to trim and repot them. But this is helping me become a better gardener. Sadly, I won't be able to garden as much for a few weeks because of my illness. 💔
What a pretty arrangement. I moved to Houston from SoCal 6 months ago and I wish I would have discovered succulents while I was there. Hopefully they do fine here in Houston.
Hi Laura good to see you again. I would like to tell you how I appreciate you and your videos. I get my inspiration from you and I am just so surprised how creative I can be. have a great day 😊
I thought it looked great before, then you fixed it. I can tell you know what you are doing. I'm just getting started and just trying to not kill them. Someday I hope to be brave and know what I am doing and turn them into awesome arrangements. I just need time to (mentally) adapt to their soil/light/water requirements, which are different than I am used to. I'm collecting Sedums (such as graptosedum).
What a wonderful Video!! Thank you. Hot Mess?? I would love it!!! You have such great Succulents in Cali. Wish we had them in Florida!!! You are so informative!!! No death threats here just amazement.
Is it true that when growing succulents in ground, one can get away with using less rock mixed in because drainage is better? I suppose that has to do with the water perch . I just put a bunch of 1/4 minus cleaned gravel ( #10’s ) , Sandy loam and pumice , and Coco Loco potting mix into my rock bed for sempervivums and sedums . It’s around 75% inorganic . Hope it has enough moisture retention and doesn’t compact too much. I’m in zone 7 , Tennessee. It’s humid all summer and fairly rainy winter through spring. Thank you ! You’re right. My heart stopped to see the crest not be a tree anymore. But that arrangement looks beautiful and much better! So jealous! Wish I could have those in the garden year round. ❤
You answered my question...when to plant and you said winter ;-) Guess what I will be doing in the morning, start on my front porch flower bed and plant cactus and succulents. Can cactus get wet if it rains? Maybe I will just plant the succulents now. Thanks Laura great video
Desert Plants of Avalon i have a friend that open his nursery of succulents. This is a new plant im getting into thanks for the video its very helpful im learning alot.
I have to admit I held my breath and covered my mouth as you so rightfully assumed people would do but then I liked how it's now flush with the rest of the arrangement, phew!
Ive tried to plant succulents cutting without waiting for callous process and they success too, not rot at all. But mostly, when i notice that the weather is not dry or mild enough to plant the cutting directly after cut, i will let them wait for couple days. And i live in Southen Vietnam and the weather is a bitch, since the tropical climax bring the rain unnoticed, but i still success with cuttings (mostly).
As a collector. Or what my mother and grandma calls me( plant hoarder). I don't blame you for cutting the stem. I hate it when they get tall and start to look like a wild tree.
Satok Hardware Hi, I'm also a gardener and wondering which country are you from Asia? I know, in Japan and Korea their succulents are healthy and many are in pastel colors. My succulents are from America and Mexíco. They are all healthy but some get thirsty too fast. I'm from the South but last year had been so hot. Since February 2017, it's been hot over here. Just touch the petals of your succulent and if it's squishy, it may have been watered a lot or thirsty. Usually, when the petal is harden it's dry and thirsty. But for mine most of them feel squishy or soft when they are thirsty. Most of them enjoy to be watered 2-3 days every other days of the week. The sun had been focusing on my succulents and some had sunburnt but now they are all doing fine. Just don't overwater them.
I absolutely adore ghost plants, and the arrangement you made with them is beautiful :D I've had a couple of those plants for a year now and they're starting to grow all wonky, but I wasn't sure it would be a good idea to cut them or try to rearrange them. Now I know, this was very educational. :D
Maam how about on Roof deck can we also do the same design like you did now? My problem was where will the water flow out or flush out when it rains since it is on the roof deck? Thanks
How often does that arrangement you just did in the video get watered? I have the same plant in a pot and have tried not to water it much but its more gray in color than your are and its also near a wall so it gets less sun. Do you suggest it may do better in full sun and may get more orange? It also hasnt grown at all in 6 months.Does it take a long time for that plant to grow as yours did? Thank you Laura
Love your videos-so informative, inspiring and fun to watch. I just wish you (or the camera man) would give a good shot of the end product! When it comes to the end of some videos like this one where you are re-working--a before & after shot would be nice. SERIOUSLY love all of your work.
I need to hear those last few seconds of this video a few times... I bought a nice purple/pink echeveria cutting and I'm debating chopping it's rooty stem off or not... -.-'
hi what rocks are those near the succulents? my house is in garden grove, about an hour away from you. cant really plant succulents without wild cats being around pooing sometimes. any suggestions?

@Laura Eubanks, just subscribed to your channel. Any tips for succulent growing in winter-striken countries?
LOVE ur videos. i live in Asia with equatorial climate and my succulents always die on me. May i ask why. i didnt put a lot of water though.
