Just want to say, even though this video is a year old, I’m really impressed to see you still replying to comments! Kudos to you! Really helps newbies like me as questions 😊♥️👍
How about 5 years later. Still replying hehe. Love the hardy succulent videos. I like the soft succulent too but since I'm zone 5 I prefer hardy. Not many videos it
@@the.shortang214 No, the video uses autocaptions. They aren't accurate, especially for species names. Hopefully the creator updates with actual typed CC. _For Thea For Thea, craft Cilla's, BioMEMS, Seaton's, Semper V-Bums, simpler views_ and other gems probably have proper names.
Since working in the Garden Department at Home Depot i have fallen in love with succulents. Succulents Sunday is a rule here in Arizona.. Even though summers get really warm... we water succulents once a week and they are happy with that. Sooo many varieties and a great species for beginner gardeners.
I’ve been very pleased with my purchases from Mtn Crest and all of my succulents have arrived in great condition. Spent the last week potting up the 50 little plants I purchased, thanks to the great information I’ve learned from RUclips videos I’ve watched over the last month or so. 🌞👏🏼
Found this video helpful to me even years later. I live in PA and i have a few succulents outside yeah round. There ia one cold hardy monocarpic plant that was forgotten... Dunce Caps are just amazing ans hardy. Its end of September here and my rosettes have formed cones... Its their death blooms that havent bloomed yet. They are so so so pretty. Dragons Blood is another sedum/ground cover thats spreads far and wide,,,, just stunning. I also added Prickly Pear this year. Opunuti is what im going to look for now and the other two like hens and chicks that you mentioned. Thank you soooo much.
Awesome video! Keep em coming!! I've actually had fun recently discovering Hen and chick varieties that can survive our -40c Saskatchewan winters outside and will come back in spring!! I even had some make flowers this year! and they had lots of chicks to come back again!
Well I just assumed that no succulents would survive outside in Minnesota over the winter but I guess I'm wrong! Awesome! Do you know of a specific variety of hens & chicks to recommend?
I live on a sailboat, so I don't have a window that faces one way, all day. My ponytail palm and hawarthias are doing really well. This was a really helpful video so I can build a hardy indoor garden.
You mentioned Cold Succulents. Sedum Rupestre (Angelina) grows beautiful here in Ohio. The orange and reds in the fall and winter are just magnificent! Thanks for the video.
I am going get some Succulents for the purpose of leaving them outside in the winter to. See what happens. Our winters have gotten much colder and dryer. So we shall see what happens. I will let you know in the spring. Really good information. Thank you.
thank you as I always learn everytime I visited your channel, your website and even your podcasts. I hope you can share more of succulents that can grow in the tropical country like ours, in the Philippines. Thank you so much.
I live in Idaho had no idea we could grow succulents outside year-round! I'm definitely going to try to add some to my yard! Thanks for this great info!!!
I have seen a tons of video before watching this video ,but none of them give me exact information about the succulent species. While scrolling down videos on youtube, I found this video out a few minutes ago. In this video, you have discussed all types and species of succulents so cleary, that everyone will easily understand about the succulent types and species. They not only understand what is exact , but they will also understand where to place. Madam A huge thanks from me to you for sharing such a wonderful knowledge with us. It's a personal request from me to you, Please make a video on the specific species , which can be kept in Indian climate.
Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm glad it was so helpful to you. You can find succulents to fit your growing conditions on this page: https:\\succulentsandsunshine.com\yt-typesofsuccs
This video is amazing!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. If I can share my feedback, I think a closer look to your succulents will be much appreciated. I think beginners will benefit more if you can slow down your demonstration and a closer focus to the plants too.
Thank you for the feedback. We were trying to keep these simple to produce so we could do a lot that month. However, not including close ups was definitely an oversight, and one we'll remedy in our next round of videos. Also appreciate your suggestion about slowing down during the demonstration :)
My favourite soft succulents are Kalanchoes, mini Aloes, and Gasterias. I live on Vancouver Island, Canada, and most of my cold-hardy succulents are Opuntias.
Wow! Thanks for all the info. I'm trying to add some around my cottage and home. I bought 2 huge ones and broke off all the small ones and made about 80 more. LOL. It was pretty great. Wife's like "WOW, you can do that!" and I fire back, "Oh yeah dear, Cassidy on RUclips says no worries, divide away." I'm located in Southern Ontario and we do experience quite cold weather. I would like to find a nice variety for ground cover. I would like it small and low and super hardy. That the dogs and some people will walk on them from time to time (large patch at the cottage that I just can't get anything to grow there). Thanks so much for your help! 🤗 Your eyeballs are freaking amazing! By they way I took to gardening because the wife hasn't showed much interest in outdoor duties (We got a blue jobs/pink jobs arrangement and it works very well.🙂). I've been growing cannabis for years and quite enjoy it. I found the house and cottage seems so bland, so I've been doing my best to get into "visual" gardening. I gotta say I've been doing quite well! You're help on this topic will be my "piece de resistance" if you will. LOL. Thanks in advance for your help. Adrian.
I'm so glad were able to propagate your succulents! That's fantastic! :) Depending on your growing zone in Ontario, you should be able to grow cold-hardy Sedums and Sempervivums well. Something like Sedum nevii would be a good ground cover. mountaincrestgardens.com/sedum-nevii-limited/?aff=2 Good luck in your succulent gardening adventures!
Echeverias are my fave variety, for sure. I live in 4 season climate with some pretty cold winters, but my Echeverias are indoors with a grow light, and plenty of warmth!
That was awesome 👏I ❤️ cactus 🌵 and suculentas!! Hawortias are my favorite!! I live in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷!! We have a wonderful weather for all plants 🌱 Thanks 🙏🏻 🌹🌵🌱❤️🇵🇷
Very helpful video. We live in Zone 8, but we still get freezing temperatures in the winter so that our soft succulents move indoors with us. By trial and error I found out which of my sedums were cold hardy since the sellers gave no such information.
I've lived in zone 9 California all my life, and I've seen Opuntias everywhere. I've recently been noticing the plants around me, and now I want one! I'm working up the courage to snag a paddle from the side of the road lol
It can actually be illegal to take them from the side of the road, so I wouldn't recommend that. But... If you see some in a neighborhood, most people are willing to share! Just ask the owner and they'll likely give you a couple!
What a great video! I’m in love with the sedum. I just moved into my first house-in cottonwood heights, Utah. I’m researching succulents because they’re so beautiful!
Love the video , just getting ready to make a garden for succulents , cold hardy. got my list to order within the next 2 days. so glad I found your site.
Great video! I was running out of room in the house. So this fall I planted some sempervivums in the yard. They got a little sunburned at first but hopefully they will adjust. I’d also like to add some opuntia in the spring.
I love your videos. So informative and easy to follow. I have an obsession with Jade plants and just can't seem to ever pass one up. Lol. Thanks for posting!
Hey, thank you for these awesome informative videos! I am always trying new things and it's amazing to see succulents grow and change! I'm from southern California and I had problems with our succulents burning but now they are huge and doing great! Now, I'm in Mississippi near Jackson and I'm not really sure about the zone and what would be ok to grow inside or outside. I've propogated a ton of plants here and all of them were doing well....then my fiance and I forgot about our plants and we had left them outside from morning until evening. Those few nights that they got left outside really messed them up even though it was only for an hour or 2 each time! We have a variety of succulents cold Hardy and Hardy. Some got squishy in some places and some had all there leaves and stems turn black....I'm so sad. Today I. Going to replant some and move them to better pots were they can be watered easily and things won't be so easily damaged.

Someone asked me if I like succulents and I said I don’t have any. I just realized I have sedums, jade and sedum - and they are succulents! I do have succulents. I’m so happy.
I should move my tender haworthias indoors! Didn’t know they are fine in lower light. I sometimes have trouble with them since it’s a bit wet outside and the softer species will rot if left soggy. Yay, thank you!
Great video very informative and knowledgeable. Can you do one for weather like this South Florida which succulent will handle in the direct sun and temperatures of South Florida And which ones will have to be under the shade or roof While being-all outdoor. We will greatly appreciated.
This video feels over-produced. I’d prefer more close-ups of the plants with a voice-over, than all these quick cuts and multiple camera angles, and zooming. It was difficult to take in the plants themselves.

More close ups and longer takes to the plants please!

Just found your channel. I'm learning so much. I have many succulents and now I have some information to keep them thriving. Thanks.
Finally!! Someone who pronounces EKeveria correctly!
Haworthias are my favorite for sure due to their tolerance of low-light conditions.
Thank you for a great video!
My favorite soft succulent has to be the burro tail. I don't have one but am looking to get one soon.
Home Depot...8$ hanging basket😍
Darlene Mahaffey i thought she was saying burrito! Its burro tail??
Last year I planted some Serpervivum outdoors. They survived the winter in UK very well and now they are growing even bigger.
This video told me that I have so much to learn about types of succulents and how to pronounce the various ones.
I absolutely love succulents!!! They look like they came from a Dr. Seuss book!!
Awesome video! Keep em coming!! I've actually had fun recently discovering Hen and chick varieties that can survive our -40c Saskatchewan winters outside and will come back in spring!! I even had some make flowers this year! and they had lots of chicks to come back again!

You are very welcome!
Thank you SO much!! I’m learning everything I need for my succulents from your channel. 🌱
I live on a sailboat, so I don't have a window that faces one way, all day. My ponytail palm and hawarthias are doing really well. This was a really helpful video so I can build a hardy indoor garden.
I love that you have an indoor garden on a sailboat!
You mentioned Cold Succulents. Sedum Rupestre (Angelina) grows beautiful here in Ohio. The orange and reds in the fall and winter are just magnificent! Thanks for the video.
this is very useful as i am converting my lawn to a more drought resistant landscape using succulents!
That's exciting!

You made me feel okay, because my cold hardy succulents have disappeared this winter! So, I’m hopeful that they’re going to be back!
Echeverias are my fave variety, for sure. I live in 4 season climate with some pretty cold winters, but my Echeverias are indoors with a grow light, and plenty of warmth!

Awesome! Yes, Haworthias are great indoors 😊
Very informative!
And I didn’t know about rosularias until now, they are so cute! I have to get some to grow now haha 😛
They are super cute! They do like lots of sun, so outside in a full sun (but not too hot) area will be the best.
