    Thank you. Really thank you!!!!!!! for made this video.
    I have T1D since January of this year (I am 24 years old, actually) and, you know... I had to drop my studies temporarily because of that. Next year I plan to take them back! but there are still so many things I do not know and with which I fail, that I cannot help feeling grateful for all these useful tips. Really. It always makes me truly happy to find people like you, in which I feel I can support myself little by little and learn more every day. So thank you! Really, really thank you. And never stop making videos like this, because they all are great! 💕😊😊
    (Sorry for my bad English, by the way. I'm not a native speaker but I try my best with the language).

    • @MichelleLord
      @MichelleLord  7 лет назад +4

      Jo Jo Thank you for this comment, you are so sweet! I am so happy that I can help 😊❤️! I am sorry to hear you had to take a break from school because of your diabetes. I am sure that you will be able to start up again next year and that everything will go well!

    • @JoJo-so1qy
      @JoJo-so1qy 7 лет назад +1

      Michelle Lord Yeah, well... I had to take a break from college actually, haha. 😄 And yes, it has been difficult to take the decision at first; but I tried to see it as something that was necessary for me, to be able to adapt me to this enormous change so... not everything has been so bad, at least. Or that's what I think.
      I'm not going to give up with my studies either, so it's fine for me. Because just as my diabetes has come with difficulties, it has come up with some good things as well. 😊
      So thank you! I am exciting and nervous for what it comes next year, but I know that everything will be okay. And I hope, and I'll pray, for it to be the same with you! Because you're incredible, and you really deserve it. 💕

    Thank you for all your helpful tips! I always keep a low snack with me, but I never bring my Dexcom receiver in class because I’m afraid that it will vibrate in class. Do to have any tips for keeping it silent during class? My class is often super silent and even the vibration would catch everyone’s attention.

    • @MichelleLord
      @MichelleLord  7 лет назад

      I also did not like having my Dexcom in class for this reason. I actually used to turn off the alarms on my Dexcom when I was in class and just looked at the receiver every so often. However, turning off the alarms really defeats the purpose of the device, so I don't recommend doing that (especially if you can't feel your lows). Maybe you could talk to your teacher/class and explain what the device is, and warn them that it may vibrate from time-to-time? That way people won't make a big deal if it happens to vibrate!

    • @Aly0618
      @Aly0618 2 года назад

      I agree with Michelle with it defeats the purpose of the device. But, that’s what my parents and I did for me. I know it could be nerve wracking it vibrating or telling people you have diabetes and explain what it is. So, i don’t use my receiver since I have the tslim pump and the dexcom. For your case, I’ll keep it in my pocket or in my book bag pocket and keep your book bag near you, and keep the zipper halfway.

      I feel the same way.. But if they think that you are different and have an disability they are wrong. Diabetes is just a medical issue. If they think bad about you then that's their bad then that's their wrong. DO NOT Care about what others think! Their is someone out there who will understand and like you for you not because if your issue. I have type 1. Just be you.

    I’m allowed to eat my snacks in class (well I’m supposed to be) and I miss math a lot because of lows. I thought since I could eat my snacks in class that would help, but the nurse is making me eat them in the nurses office and now I’m failing math. She also pushes me to do my own shots and I’m not ready. She also gave me extra units of insulin that I didn’t need apparently but after I found out and told her that she said “I know”. She’s a T1D herself and I just thought that things like this were kind of ridiculous in my opinion. Thoughts???

    • @MichelleLord
      @MichelleLord  7 лет назад +2

      I would be telling your parents or the principal! You should not have to be missing so much class! That's crazy.

    • @ilikedogs7226
      @ilikedogs7226 7 лет назад

      Michelle Lord My parents know about all the situations, including one where I missed my whole lunch period and part of gym because she was out at stores and town buying decor and stuff , so I couldn’t eat dinner until 2 hours after school was out because I have the last lunch. She also does my shots in a sensitive part of my arm(towards the very very back) and it hurts and I’ve told her but she just darts it into my arm😑 My parents and I have been thinking about homeschooling me. If this happened to you would you consider it? I’m only 3 months into my being diagnosed

    • @MichelleLord
      @MichelleLord  7 лет назад

      Aww that's so bad! I've never been in your situation so it's hard for me to say.
      I would probably look into switching schools, where they can accommodate you more, or maybe homeschool. But first, I would schedule an appointment with your parents and the principal about the situation to try to resolve it before leaving your school. You probably have all your friends there, and it would be hard to leave :(

    This hacks are very helpful, but having 1,5 years diabetes arw hacks that I know but don't use that much..I have the Medtronic insulin pump 630g, and all I take with my are jellies for lows and my meter.These days I don't even check my bloodsugar, because I have made them to be to a normal diabetic number, so I usualy don't have lows or highs..To school I have even done a presentation about my pump, and I am very confident and open with that..I don't even take it as a problem, sometimes I even forget my meter or don't check at all, and it's totally fine because I am not the type of person that wake uo with a 300..Also, at school, when I have a low or high I don't make it a big deal I don't even tell it to my teachers, I am old enough to handle and even though I tell it nothing will change

      Pure Charm mine were,
      1. Drinking A LOT of water
      2. Going to the toilet what seems to be more than you drink (#1)
      3. Getting really tired.
      The symptoms can be confused with going through puberty but better safe than sorry. I would seriously recommend just getting a test at your doctors to find out before it is a problem (diabetic coma). I was diagnosed almost 4 months ago and I am 15 years old.
