- "Do you love sweets? Is it the good or the bad type? You must be really annoyed with your parents..." If you have diabetes it seems people will assume all sorts of things about you - not all of which are strictly based on fact. Here, eight people set the record straight about their condition - and what they say to those who are positive they could never inject themselves.

i had to inject in a fast food place and an older, run down looking man looked at me and said “oh, starting young i see. you’re just like me” and that’s the highlight of my diabetes

My pump went off in class and the teacher yelled at me after I had repeatedly told him I needed to go to the health office because I was going low. They had also supposedly been trained on my diabetes and should have known what was going on. I ended up going dangerously low after the class period. Thanks Mr. Modershead.
One time i was injecting in the bathroom and some year 7s reported me because they thought i was doing drugs😂

I have the insulin pump. And I was putting my Carbs into the pump and this guy said hey can you play some music from the iPod and I was laughing so hard.
Ok but that pink Diabetes kit looks so nice and organized and pretty, and mine over here is full of used test strips, needles I have yet to dispose. Oh and five lancets I know will take me three years to use.
When I was in a psychiatric ward the medical doctor refused to let me take insulin for the food I ate! I explained to her the basics of diabetes(which she ought to know as she's a doctor???) Then she accused me of arguing with her and when I told her that I knew what I was supposed to do as I've been a diabetic for over 10 years she told me that I had been doing it wrong! For 10 years! If I had been doing it 'wrong' for 10 years I would be dead! I expect this kind of stuff from ignorant uneducated fools but from a doctor? I got her to call my diabetic nurse and things were sorted out but I got no apology! ThAnkS For PutTinG mY LiFe aT RiSk I hate people:)

I remember a girl at school, she needed her insulin during the annual tests and the teacher (a teacher from another grade, that way the real one won’t help us cheat if that makes sense) said no, and that “it could secretly be drugs” next thing you know, an 11 year old little girl is in the hospital because her shitty substitute wouldn’t let her use insulin. What a day that was.

nothing makes me more mad than when people make diabetic jokes as if there's only one type (type 2)
“Oh, I won’t kiss you cause I don’t wanna get diabetes”
Story time:
Haha I once injected while at a restaurant and a woman told her husband "Harold, I think that girl over there is doing drugs, should we tell someone?"
Person: should you be eating that?
So my “friend” saw my bloods were low picked up my insulin pen and said “here I’ll inject you so your bloods go up”
