Thank you so much! I tried making this years ago and it was never as good as a “well done” order at restaurants. Now I know I was just moving it too often. Turned out perfect. I’ll think of you every time I make this.
It totally does look like dog food but the taste is amazing. It's my grandmother's favorite and I refused to try it till I was older and im so mad I waited lol.
Mine started to stick to the pan after about 8 min, but this was still a good guideline. Cooking it this way made it sooo much better than it was in the past.
During from early teen years the family ate this on a regular weekly basis. I always put ketchup on it to make it more palatable. It was all we had to eat.
@@KyleRBell-pe7yy lol I grew up poor that’s how I know we couldn’t afford one can of corn beef hash for 3 dollars. You can get way more for the same 3 dollars. When you poor your learn how to get most bang for your Buck. Sounds like you was never poor
@@09smartin1 Maybe in America you can. I know a dozen eggs are 89 cents, for example. Before inflation they were 54 cents. That's not even remotely possible here in Canada. You'll pay a minimum of $4 per dozen at the moment. Groceries are a lot cheaper in America because of the Free Trade Agreement. I didn't grow up poor, but I experienced poverty as an adult for about three years. I know what it's like to not be able to afford any food for days.
Wow never would have thought it would take that long. Thank you so much. I was trying to flip that 5 minutes and it wasn't working at all!! Sooo helpful!!
I like corn beef hash and other good canned foods from back in the day I was raised on but the prices are just so high now one can of corn beef hash just like $4
I use an aluminum clad steel pan, no nonstick finish, and all I ever get is mush with the brown stuck to the bottom of the pan. Don't have any nonstick cookware, but have never been able to brown or crisp anything in these stainless steel pans! Everything sticks.
Thanks for this. I blew my first attempt, but learned in the process. 1. Don't do medium high, that's too high Wanting to resist the temptation of fiddling, I walked away... 2. Don't let it cook to carbonization, LOL. Fortuneately, I only used a quarter can for my failed attempt. I'll do better next time. I did one thing I think was right, if I hadn't burned it. After flipping, sprinkle some grated cheese and an egg on it.
Nice,. Believe it or not when I do in cast iron pan, I add butter, chyanne pepper, garlic powder and salt 🥺, makes it crispy corners, and even more unhealthy 😢, but even out of the can it's so hook one get the crispy edges and some char, can't eat it just heated or microwave... Appreciate it tyvm
Thanks for this vid. I bought the same can a few weeks ago but I've been afraid to crack it open. You make it look easy, so I'm gonna give it a go. Thanks!
DUDE thank you so much for this corn beef hash recipe. I was up ALL night trying to cook the perfect canned Corn Beef Hash for my Great Grandfather who is visiting from Ireland next week. I absolutely needed to get this down because... well... I LOVE my Great Grandpappy! And his favorite meal has always been canned Corn Beef Hash. When we would sit by the fire late at night, just me & him reading a book while music would play (haha sometimes he fell asleep and the music would play while I watched his belly go up and down breathing so deeply. I always was tempted to stick my finger in his belly button because his shirt never covered it fully while reclining in his sit... I did sometimes :P don't tell him...) he used to always tell me "Grandsonny, when I was fighting in vietNAM there was one thing that kept me going....... photographs of your grandmothers hushy and CANNED CORN BEEF HASH. GOD DAMN, I LOVED THAT SHIT SO MUCH AND IT CAME EVERY WEDNESDAY FROM SUPPLY CORPS, BUT EVERY THURSDAY IT WAS GONE BECAUSE HE ATE ALL OF IT (and stashed the rest under his bed in the bunker hehe) AND ONE LAST THING, DON'T EVER GO INTO BUSINESS WITH A JEW, OR AN ASIAN. YOU HEAR ME? Fuck, Nancy! Hey Nancy! Get in here, I think this little boy is playing with himself and he's squinting really hard at one of photographs from our family renioun photo album...."
Your favorite diner does it on a flat top griddle. Way faster and no worries about sizing your pan and turner. Tip: if done in a pan use a splatter screen.
This stuff got me through the lean times when I was a poor student. (specifically Hormel brand.) I used to bulk it up with separately cooked Okra or Asparagus to stretch it out for leftovers. I don't have this very much anymore but funny enough sometimes I crave canned Corned Beef and Hash and I will make a specific trip to go get a few cans. Enjoy🍻
Not a prepper; but I also didn’t know how to cook it, and just tried it for the first time and love it. Kid liked it too. Gonna start adding it to our breakfast rotation. At 800 calories per can, and a good amount of fat, carbs, and protein, it sounds like it’d be good options for prepers though. 4 cans could give 2 people enough calories for an entire day.
oh wow i didn't suspect it took so long to cook since it looked ready to eat but could be improved by cooking (like how i treat bologna). i just used to blast it until it seemed warm but it never looked very great (and i guess the popping scared me into finishing the process quickly). i'm going get a can next time i go shopping.
Crazy that this literally gave me the same result as if I constantly stirred it. Mush with the crisp stuck to the pan. It’s so simple. Medium heat, oil, leave it alone for 12 minutes. What am I doing wrong?
GV Hash is the best of all the brands, too. Tastes like other brands used to taste in the old days. Hormel, Mary's Kitchen, Libby's...are awful now: no flavor, and more fatty. GV Hash crisps up nicely. Thanks for sharing!
Dont use oil, use butter, tastes way better, Poach a couple eggs for the top. If you don't know how to poach simply heat a nonstick skillet to medium high, put a couple pats of butter and crack a couple eggs into the butter. Put a tablespoon of water in the pan cover and cook till done but leave the yolks runny.
Best RUclips video ever. 1 minute, no BS.

This is how I’ve been feeling whenever my mom cooks the corn beef, I cooked it today and finally the consistency I wanted crispy
Tastiest dog food out there
I love this. I cook in melted butter onions and green peppers with garlic powder and pepper. 😋
I’ll try it but it just better be that good😂
Sounds like a dollar store method
Giving it a shot as we speak.
Swap poblano peppers for the bell pepoers.
Thanks you gave me another way to use it
I just put the corn beef in the pan and didn’t know what I was doing so I looked up on RUclips real quick and you help me out. Thank you.
Me too. Can never go wrong with RUclips. Best video yet.
Never heard of this til I deployed over seas, and when I ate some OMG. it was crispy and So flavorful.
Same, been out for 5 years now and I buy cans just because I miss it
This is also great to take when camping. Early morning breakfast of corned beef hash and fried eggs. 👍
