Such a classic recipe known the world over. My favorite way is is add one cup beef broth near the end and then bake it to crisp it up. takes it to the next level.
In Britain we have corned beef hash for a snack at anytime with a tin of baked beans in tomato sauce (thanks Heinz), add some of your chopped potatoes and sliced onions, a splash of Worcs. sauce and cook it all together, it's fantastic, put the beans in last for a couple of minutes they don't need a long cook and the sauce keeps everything moist. I've never had a fried egg on top before, I must try that sometime, very yummy.
I love a good breakfast and I’ve eaten breakfast in Korea, Germany, France, Canada, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. But I just don’t get the Brit fascination with the baked beans.
I just tried this recipe and oh my gosh its delicious!!! Such a simple meal too! And very filling i might add!! Soooo gooood!! The cayenne peppers added to it were scrumteous!!! Thank you so much for sharing this!!! My sons loved it!!
My mom used to make this cause it was cheap & went along way . This was one of my favorites when I was a kid & still is although it’s been awhile since I’ve made this .
@@justinwebb3117 I’ve had it with and without. It is definitely better with the corn. It adds a nice sweetness to it that pairs with the salty corned beef
A great video. One could always change the seasonings but seeing how you prepared the corned beef and potatoes makes the job a lot easier. Thanks Chef Buck!
I'm late to the party but I'm from the UK and just found your Channel I have to say yours is the best recipe I've seen looks amazing! I'm learning to cook really and this is perfect ty xx
That looks great - I love corned beef hash. Must try it with the caraway seeds. PS - I take the paper off the can before using the key, it turns a lot easier.
Thanks, CB. I think they keep some canned products with those old-fashioned key strips, or with pull-ring tops, so the items can be used as true emergency rations. No can opener needed.
Rub the rim of any can on a stone or concrete surface. It files/grinds away the rolled part and the can pops right open. 😉 But face facts were MEN, we can open it with a knife, axe, or just by pounding it with a rock like a caveman.
I know it's been three years but thank you for this. We've been having the canned version for a while but I wanted to know how to do it more from scratch and this looks amazing. I'll probably forego the caraway, though, and continue to season ours with Tony Chachere's creole seasoning because we like it a little spicy.
In Hawaii, we eat canned corn beef in corned beef and cabbage or in corned beef hash (potatoes). We also eat canned corned beef straight out of the can with raw sweet onions and poi.
I make this for my self frequently. My wife hates the bully beef but I love the stuff. I got sick of spam a long time ago but the canned corned beef is my idea of a staple, in spite of the fact that I do know how to cook and do it every day.
Thank-you Chef Buck, will try to replicate soon. Also thank-you for the lesson, improving my cooking vocabulary: " Dinky do onion; Flippy flip; Big chunky chunks; Choppy chop chop; Nice yolky sauce". I keep the Corned Beef can in the fridge in the tin overnight or more. This makes a difference, as it helps it out of the can, it virtually slides out in one piece. Makes it perfect for Cubing and Slicing.
In Southeast Asia, they make a very simple type of canned, corned beef "stew" with sautéed onions & chopped fresh tomatoes, & your choice of seasoning...I add small cubed potatoes like Chef Buck, & when they're starting to get tender, add enough water to finish cooking the potatoes... Add the corned beef sliced in chunks & cook until hot, & it breaks apart into small pieces...Then taste for seasoning & see if you need to add more water to finish cooking the potatoes...Served over a bed of jasmine rice & topped with fried eggs...It's a quick weekend breakfast or brunch meal with very little effort...😊

Yep, our American cousins do tend to struggle with the pronunciation of Worcestershire sauce. Say it like 'Wooster Shah '. Then you'll sound like a local. Loving your recipe btw.
Known this recipe since I was a kid. One of the first few things my Mom ever taught me to cook. She wanted to make sure I could at least feed myself if something happened to her. Why did she teach me corned beef? Back in the day as a little boy my earning potential was not very high and corned beef was really cheap so she taught me this recipe because it was cheap and tasty.
Btw, thanks for your suggestions. I’ve got several cans of corn beef hash stored away that I’ve kept for several years and all cans look good, so I’ll have to try it sometime soon. Maybe they are Hormel and not Libby’s. And since already hash, all I need are eggs 🥚 and extra fix’ens to taste. 😋
A half can of corned beef cooked in Glory seasoned green beans and potatoes is really delicious. The other half can be cooked with sauerkraut as a topping for mashed potatoes or to make a toasted Reuben.
After chopping my spud into dice, they go into the microwave to par-cook before a transfer to a hot pan. The cubes get softened right through, and it's easier than boiling/draining. It’s a shame to limit your microwave use just to warming up drinks and ready-meals.
Your first hole poked in the small end was the right one. Another trick is to run the can under hot water before you open it. It is the fat that holds the meat in the can.
I really love your Voice! So sweet and soooothing!😊 And you're naturally funny! "Those edges are pretty lethal!" Give you meat a little "flippy-flip!"😜 And you are so laid-back. And your recipes super tasty and easy to follow! You check ALL the boxes!!😎 (A new subscriber here!😉)

An old school British staple. Corned beef hash has been around for 100’s of years over here, originally from medieval times I think. I love the stuff. I used to like it in the ration packs in the army as well, though the lads used to say I was a weirdo and pervert liking it 🤷🏻♂️😂

This looks delicious. I worry about your fingers sliceing off. Suggest using the knuckle against the blade technique. But the simple recipe and the advice to not add salt is a winner.
CG can take or leave the yolk, but I really like a yolky sauce on my breakfasts...feels kinda decadent to me...and I think it reminds me of being a kid; we often had eggs and bacon and potatoes for breakfast and my dad would always cut up everything together into a yolky porridge on his plate and then carpet it with black pepper, so I did too...gotta have that runny yolk!
What a shock when I saw you, I thought you were a youngster ! Ha, ha ! That is a delicious dish of food you made there. I wouldve used 2 eggs, though. I just hope that meat product doesnt taste like Spam, because Spam is jam loaded with salt. I dont know how anybody can eat the stuff .
I love corned beef hash but the brand name cans are so high in fat-55%. I use some onion, shredded hash brown potatoes, and one can corned beef. Brown the onion and potatoes and chop up the can of corned beef and mix and it tastes and looks just like the commercial ones in the can and no 55% fat. Lot healthier.
Sorry sent it before finishing. here it is. Make a sofrito in a pan with chopped onion, bell pepper , garlic and cilantro. Fry it a little bit with a little oil then add 1/2 can tomato sauce. Cook it a few minutes to get saucy , then add French fries. Serve with white rice
