    Love your channel, mate - never yet tried one of your recipes that didn't work.
    If only because - unlike so many others - you don't insist that simple home meals require half of Sainsbury's in the pot. And not like so many RUclips chefs so in love with the sound of their own voice they're halfway through the video before they get to the point.
    Have to say, though, I could probably get a meal out of the amount of potato you discard when peeling! 😄

    Well I'm going to have to be making plenty of this with the 12 tins of corned beef that I panic-bought yesterday due to Corona Virus. Btw, try adding about half a pack of that thinly sliced chorizo sausage that you can buy to take it to the next level, fry it before adding the corned beef. This is what I did when I used to make it. Just couldn't remember the rest of the process, so cheers!

    I'm going to try this, but in a ninja foodi. possibly I could pressure cook it but more likely I'll steam the pots (skins on) then whilst I (s)mash them the onions can cook down a little then add the CB and bake/air fry until it's crispy enough.

      @dragonlord0666 Год назад

      Pressure cook method if any one is interested - I have the ninja foodi 300UK (think that is the 7 in 1 but don't me on that) I used same ingredients except I was making this for 1 so I only used two/three potatoes I left the skin on. and 1 onion. I also did not have Dijon mustard so I used what I had which is american style mustard.
      I chopped up the onions & potatoes (rough large cubed, I tend to chop onions 'hunter style' as I have to pick them out if I share with my husky), put them in the pot with 1 mug water.
      pressure cooked them for 10 minutes and did quick release but no reason you can't leave them to natural release if, like me, you normally forget them ;) . drained out most of the water.
      I added the chopped corned beef and the 'sauce', gave it a good stir, then put on air fry at 180C for 15 minutes - but this would be personal choice depending how 'crispy' you like it
      oh and 30ml is about 6 teaspoons (2 tablespoons) and 50ml is about 10 teaspoons (just over 3 tablespoons [3.333]).

    why peel the spuds if it is a 'rustic' recipe? and you left a heap of flavor in the dutch oven which you could have captured by deglazing with a little stock and poured over the hash prior to putting in the oven.

    • @JA-rn5qv
      @JA-rn5qv 4 года назад +2

      You actually don't even need to boil the potatoes first either, they can just be chopped up in to nice small cubes, then fried with the onions & garlic until they are somewhat soft. All of those other sauces aren't necessary either, just garlic, onion, salt & pepper. That combination along with the flavor of the corned beef is just great as is. All of those other sauces just cover up the natural flavors that are already present. I think the reason he didn't deglaze the pot is because the sauces he added contain a fair amount of sugar and the bottom of the dutch oven was quite black at that point, so would have made a very bitter liquid.

    To save time don't peel the potatoes. Cut them in half, boil them in their skins, then just remove the skins and that way you will not lose as much potato. Me I'd even mash the skins into the onions as well, but I'd have garlic and chillies in there as well. Only English Mustard for me though. With the pan that he used for the Corned Beef and Potato he could have deglaze it and made a rich gravy.

    I love corned beef hash, but I usually plan ahead and roast some potatoes the night before, skins on, cool and put in fridge. Next morning just dice them up, you can peel the skins or leave them on. Then combine with the corned beef in a skillet with butter and cook till potatoes are browning. You can add other seasonings, I usually don't, its great just the potatoes and corned beef.

    As near as dammit to how I make it. I much prefer "Smashed" potatoes to smooth mash. I usually ad a slack handful of frozen Peas at some point. I have not added Brown Sauce things to mine but being as I normally have a dollop on them when eating maybe I will do that as you have. I did not see you scape up the bits from the bottom of the pan, I suppose you were saving them for yourself.
    Thank You.
