Thanx for the help ! Ive just bought a 2003, Transit minibus with 2.4 diesel engine. It has 183,000m on the clock. So decided to service everything ! So egr valve off, manifold off, and did glow plugs today. Had some difficulty but just took my time easing it back and forward on the wrench. Cleaned out everything with inlet manifold cleaner, and scraped the tar off !!! All back together again and it started up no probs. So thanx again !!
Hi, I've just changed the glowplugs on my 2009 transit 2.4. I followed your video and the it all went well. After I finished, the van started on the first turn. But after a few seconds of idling, the engine cut off and won't start now? I did disconnect fuel lines to make better access, I'm wondering if this has caused an airlock, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I had two jobs to get done. Change Egr valve and glowplugs. Had the egr valve done for now, and I need to get the glow plugs done. Wish I would have seen this before I paid for the Egr valve to be done because it obviously needs taking off to get the glow plugs in 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
They are both nestled in together at the front of the engine, but you can simply take off the egr motor rather than the complete valve, this should save quite a lot of time 🤞👍👍
I drive a 2008 2.4 RWD Transit (courier work, very hard on vans) and I've done timing chain (3 hours in driveway with mechanic friend) and glow plugs (doing glow plugs again tonight). Currently on 408,000kms, good strong lump. Regular oil changes are a must, I do mine every 6,000kms.

Thank you too for watching & commenting 🙏🙏👍
Great video mate. Quick question how good are them engines as in reliability
They give timing chain & egr problems but other than that I believe the are ok 🤔👌

Great tips Peter and the punters think it's easy
Yes Dave, it can be a funny business 🤷🏼♂️
But all we can do is drive on & keep the chin up 😂😂😉
Great video
Thank you Paul , I hope it helps 🙏👍
Can you show the removal of the egr valve?
The next time I have one in I will do a video on removing the complete egr valve 👍👍
Do you need to bleed the fuel lines after taking away one of the feeds?
No, a small quantity of air doesn’t ever bother them 😉👍👍
Legend cheers
I’m glad it helped 🙏🙏🙏
2.4 🤔
Yes, 2.4 👍
