You made a mistake but you handled it very well. You followed his instructions and you stayed calm so the situation didn’t escalate. Good job and apologizing at the end didn’t hurt. I think he had started to calm down a bit and that was because you had stayed calm and did as you were asked and you didn’t escalate the situation
You're lucky he had a more urgent call to get to. Law Enforcement is cracking down on drivers not moving over for Emergency Vehicles across the country.
You can't always move over if you have a car to your left which as soon as you signal the cars wanna jump out there......by your comment please don't ever drive a truck you'll hit somebody...

Sometimes when the sun is rising behind you it can be hard to see even with sunglasses, but should definitely be able to hear a siren. Looks like this was in Virginia.

Lights and sirens for a mile the officer said , so if you are traveling at 60 miles an hour that is 1 minute to cover 1 mile ,how often do you look in your mirrors , if he is right behind you ,you will not be able to see him . I rest my case .

The poor " Road Pirate ". He was just running " lights and Sirens " on his way to give a family man a $450.00 ticket for going 2 miles an hour over the speed limit. Good Job John.
I have more respect for JBG than the officer. Most, not just many, officers have a chip on their shoulder because people don’t bow down to them. You have rights, don’t give them up because the officer had a bad day. I respect police but they are not to be given carte Blanch to have a little hissy fit because you didn’t see his car.
California Highway Patrol Officer who later murdered a young lady was the same guy who gave me a ticket back in 1985. Craig Peyer gave me a ticket for following too close. He was on the side of the road giving someone else a ticket when a motor home going 45mph pulled out in front of me as I was in the passing lane. I blew the horn at the motor home, and eased up to the motor home instead of slamming on my brakes and possibly jackknifing the truck. Peyer saw (and heard me) and jumped in his car and pulled me over. Said I was tailgating and I tried to explain to him what happened and he never said a word after my explanation . Didn't speak one word to me and just gave me the ticked. Saw him on the news months later arrested for murder. Some cops are great, some are not.
I agree that the cop was more agitated than he should have been, but as both a current cop and and a CDL License holder and former driver, it isn't a good idea to tell the cop to calm down even though I agree he should have bee more calm. The bottom line is writing a ticket is totally up to the officer, so the best response is to just let him say what he is going to and eat a little humble pie.
You had the sun in your mirrors... and he was over 100 feet behind you. That cop wasn't very bright to not notice that... but then again, they pull from the bottom of the gene pool

From what I understand, he had a code 3 he had to get to in a hurry, he claimed that I stayed on the left lane too long before noticing him… the funny thing is, if he was so much in a hurry, but he had time to stop me and gave me a sermon
Cop needs to grow up a bit. Sirens can be very hard to hear in most vehicles these days, and for many years now. All sorts of vehicles have improved sound deadening to quiet the ride. At the same time the volume of sirens has been reduced due to hearing damage for the drivers of emergency vehicles.
