I weigh 185lbs. I had to drill and rivet the front seat pole hubs where they are crimped because they twisted past the crimps and made the chair extremely uncomfortable. Fortunately it was an easy fix, and now it’s perfect. Just an engineering flaw that was easily remedied.
I’ve been deciding between the Skyline UL chair and the Helinox Chair One. I believe the Chair One is a smaller footprint when packed (slightly shorter) but am interested to know about comfort differences. We already own a One in our household for moto camping but I can’t find a store with a Skyline UL to try locally. Does anyone have any feedback comparing the two? Thanks!
I'll ask around and see if someone can chime in with some info. The Helinox chair one sits lower than the Skyline. But the Skyline has a lower weight capacity.
@@jennifercheung5750 oh okay, no worries. I actually ordered both yesterday from backcountry for pickup today so I’ll let ya know what one I like more!
Those definitely look like the premium camp seating options. I'd probably 3D print wider feet for sand and soft ground. My no-added-weight solo ultralight camp seat is my Hennessy hammock. I can pitch it lower to the ground and sit on top of it as a camp chair, and after cooking and eating, I can use it as a hammock for luxurious reclining. From there, it only takes a minute or two to pitch it as a sleeping hammock with a rain fly and mosquito netting. Because it's large and needs two trees, it's not good for sitting around the campfire with friends, but it's a great ultralight solo camping option.
They are super comfortable compared to cheaper models. We actually have a friend with a 3d printer we are working on making some add on feet to prevent that.
Hammocks are definitely the way to go for minimalistic and small packing. Just not my cup o tea, yet 😆 we are going to start adding more hammock varieties soon.
@@MotoCampNerd - Nothing says The Leisure Life like a hammock. :-) I'm too old to sleep in the typical hammock, but the design of the Hennessy hammock allows me to sleep flat. I can not only sleep on my side, but I can also roll over to the other side in the middle of the night. It's a lot like a tent, suspended in the air. It's also nice to have a rain fly to cook under when it's raining, and the rain fly can also keep the dew or rain off the bike if it's parked next to me, which I prefer for security purposes.
definitely better than sitting on the ground or a rock! Great job showcasing the options available!
Cool stuff, I usually never complain about the rain in Texas but its been two weeks now. I need to ride my motorcycle and get out there.
Get out to NC? Come on over. Plenty of great roads and moto campgrounds scattered across western NC
Agreed. I am in NW Arkansas and it's been 13 days now... the next 8 days show nothing but rain. When did I move to Seattle anyway, ugh!?!
Thanks for the detail.
The chair with the back rest is THE way to go after a few hours on the bike. 👍👍
I would agree! BUT everyone has their own personal preference so we are here to accommodate and welcome them all!
full chair after a days ride...the stool makes my back sore just looking at it...Nice video
I'm right there with ya! I'm going with the chair every time. Thanks!

Motorcycle pucks are small and would be easy left in the bottom of the pannier which is probably what I’d do

@@OOOBRB I’m trying to decide the same thing rn but don’t have either. Did you ever try the UL and decide what one’s more comfortable?
@@mckaykimball I wasn’t able to find a skyline to try in person without buying and returning so I just stuck with the chair one

Cut the bottoms off of four beer cans and there is your lightweight foot supports.
