    I'm pretty sure ten years ago there wasn't a man on earth that could deadlift 1000 pounds. Now there are multiple 1000 pound pullers in the world and two guys can just pull casually 1000 pounds in the same training session. The progress in this sport is astounding to me.

      All about expectations. Typically when a record is broken, more people soon follow. Think about the 4 minute mile, it was thought to be impossible for a long but since the sub 4 minute was achieved (I believe in the 50s) there has been over 20,000 people to run under a 4 minute mile

      it's not 'about expectation', and certainly not 'all about expectations'. Several different factors cause the boundaries of human physical feats to go up, and it quite easy to enumerate the most important ones: sports science, workout science, dieting, supplements, steroids, regeneration science.

    No gonna lie I personally think Shaw is the strongest man in history. Every year he is breaking records and he makes it look so easy. After lifting 1000 pounds Eddie hall, big Z and Thor would fall to the floor and collapse because it was too much for them to handle. Shaw I’ve never seen him Collapse or lose Oxygen. He always looks composed and he knows his limits. And he is getting stronger and stronger

    • @jefffawcett
      @jefffawcett 6 лет назад +10

      I agree. And one thing people don’t mention is every lift he’s moving the weight a greater distance. Actual force being produced Shaw is simply at a different level. It’s him and Thor 1-2

    • @zachmiller3610
      @zachmiller3610 6 лет назад +7

      Gore4ever FulciLives He's not talking about weight classes. What he's saying is that because Thor and Brian are taller, they are lifting the weight higher than the others, therefore using more power.

    • @jefffawcett
      @jefffawcett 6 лет назад +4

      exactly. In fact a scientific definition of power is Force * Displacement/Time. If one guy tows a plane 50 feet and another tows it 40 feet, it's obvious which guy created more power. Same thing if one overhead press moves the weight 30" and another only 24". A TRUE test of "who is strongest" for lifts would require each person moving the weights the same distance.

    I remember first time I saw Caron, in some heats in WSM, kind of "skinny" and his deadlifting was such surprising. It is good that he gets some attention, I have always felt he is kind of underrated, but maybe he have not wanted so much attention himself either? And his English was not very good at first, if I remember correctly. I guess he is maybe the best Canadian Strongman ever, but Hugo Girard may not agree on that though, I guess Hugo has won more, except he always had some bad luck at WSM, and injuries.

      Totally agree. But he is definately the strongest canadian strongman ever. He won way more than Hugo. Hugo was great though.

    • @TwoBlackMarks
      @TwoBlackMarks 6 лет назад

      Guillaume Lepage. Caron has won more than Hugo? Oh, I thought Hugo had won more, Hugo seemed to be more popular though, and of course Caron is stronger if you compare directly, but you can not compare directly since it so different now. The last years Strongman has evolved, I think it is because there are so many who have become proffesionals, and now lives of of Strongman compared to before. This is their job, 100% of the time goes to Strongman, food and recovery.
      On the other hand I think some people compete too much, like Radzikowski, so he kind of never really can keep his peak performance up, and injuries comes because of that. If I was rich I would have sponsored some of them so they could have reached their true potential. That would have been cool.

      Reg Dunn haha bro your are so right! We need to have these guys do a football Columbine type test, sprints, vertical jump. I always been an athlete but once I started training strongman I swear it feels like jump higher and run faster. PS fuck cardio, lifting heavy and doing sprints is just as good if not better than jogging daily.

      I think OP was def referring to the majority of the population, in which case it's true. I don't think you realize how unfit the average person is... Like seriously, compared to the average youtube commenter in fitness videos I'm below average lol, but I'm fitter than like 98% of ppl I personally know in real life

      Not comparable as they pull sumo. Sumo allows people with sufficient mobility to pull more weight. Nobody at 83kg will ever pull 400kg conventional but it has been done sumo. Although sumo and conventional deadlifts require similar hip extension demands, spinal erector strength is the limiting factor for virtually everyone in a conventional deadlift and so, assuming sufficient mobility and practice with the motor pattern, the vast majority of people can pull more sumo. This is why women generally always pull sumo - they have mobile hips and relatively less upper body muscle and so have relatively weak erectors. These rules don't generally apply to super heavies who have a lot of upper body muscle and shit mobility usually. If we're looking at the best pound for pound conventional puller, you'd have to say someone like Tom Martin.

    • @johndoh5398

      Nobody .he had to train a full year to do that deadlift I'm pretty sure if Brian or big z dedicated a full year on deadlifts they could probably do it aswell. Let's face it he just pulled a thousand in training that's awsome

    • @felixdoe4335

      His legs were shaking but there was no hitch. Look at Eddie Hall when he pulled 1102 in competition. He did a couple small hitches and was green lighted
